  1. No...the one on the left is bigger.
  2. My 9x18 rounds loaded w/ Unique. Anything by Remington UMC (especially the old yellow box.) Brown Bear dirtier than Silver Bear (9x18) but cleaner than the above. My Yugo 7.62x39 from Aim is quite clean, better than Wolf, only minor complaint is the orange primer sealer flakes all over the receiver.
  3. This is the bestest thread in the whole panzified world! A thread to hang on by...
  4. FWIW - I use Pyrodex "P" and a .451 Crisco-coated ball, no patch - shaves off a tiny lead ring as you ram it into the cylinder. A .38 Special case holds 24 grains of BP or equivalent; a .357 Magnum case holds 27 grains. Either is a safe load for even the brass-framed Pietta. 24 grains is plenty, IMO. Although supposedly designed for #11 primers, #10's fit mine better - the #11's will sometimes fall off unless I lightly crimp them in place. YMMV. Reminds me - since I bought a new toy chronograph, need to try with various BP loads - another excuse to shoot!
  5. Silver Bear, good price from Aim Surplus when they have it in stock. Also Brown Bear, a little dirtier than SB, but shoots fine for me. If you want some good carry ammo, check out Wholesale Hunter. Best price I've seen on Hornady XTP. I bought a case to share with my son and daughter. Out of stock right now but should get more. IMO, it's better than Silver Bear, but not by that much (more than twice as much!): Silver Bear HP: 984 1009 1024 1051 988 1028 1007 Avg 1013 Std Dev 23.48 Hornady XTP: 1028 1018 1042 1024 1050 1002 1010 Avg 1024.86 Std Dev 16.96 (Seven rounds of each, average velocity, standard deviation) All from my CZ-82. Only place I know that has mags in stock is J&G Sales, and they're not cheap!
  6. Sunday: I stopped at Dollar General on my way home after an afternoon of shooting. I picked up a couple of things, but no one was at the register. I was open-carrying my J-frame OWB (not my EDC, but one i wasn't shooting that day); shorts and a tucked in tee. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the cashier scurry to the register, saying, "I'd better hurry...he's got a gun!" She was all smiles, obviously joking - then apologized for saying anything at all. Then gave me a $5 coupon for an upcoming sale. Pleasant encounter.
  7. Doesn't count unless you buy ammo and nachos...
  8. My wife cannot operate any slide. She ended up with a Beretta Bobcat INOX in .22LR for practice (picked it out herself, thanx Outpost!) and a Beretta Tomcat in .32 ACP (which I found used) for SD. Given your constraints, the Tomcat is a viable option, IMO.

  10. J&G Sales has Smith & Wesson .38 Special revolvers in the $250-300 range. Model 10's and 64's, police trade-ins. I'm tempted...
  11. The Guerena Shooting: Initial Analysis & The Guerena Shooting: Initial Analysis 2 Scroll down for the story, as Confederate Yankee doesn't link individual posts. Jose Guerena is innocent until proven guilty, and sadly, he will not have his day in court.
  12. CZ-82 is an all steel frame and quite durable.
  13. Jennings J-22 Gave $40 a couple years ago. Only rarely would it fire a 6 round magazine without a stovepipe, double feed, or some other malfunction. Put a few hundred rounds thru it. Dispatched a turtle and a copperhead. Then one day it fired out of battery, and cracked the slide. Dummy me bought another slide - back to square one!
  14. Potters - fair selection for a country hardware store - Ronnie Cooper your principal contact for firearms - and don't be afraid to make a reasonable offer. My business with them is limited, for personal reasons. And Skull, some of your "information" is outdated; most of it is patently false.
  15. I really question the legal defense made on behalf of the pharmacist. It would seem that the "temporary insanity" defence would be taylor-made for this case, IMO.
  16. I carry old commie guns, but this is somewhat relevant: I carry the single stack Polish P64 much more often than the double stack CZ-82. The P64 fits neatly IWB; I hardly know it's there.
  17. Today? target practice! Recently - armed my wife, daughter, and son. Gave good ammo to several people. Letters, calls, e-mails, and posts in support of the 2nd amendment. Dispensed a few nuisance animals. Ordered another rifle...hey, it helps the industry!
  18. I think I have a new goal:) I maybe could carry one for each day of the week. Welcome, NV2TN
  19. Wally Jamestown offered to order, and had a fairly large catalog of selections. DK about Marlin; I was looking for a Rossi R912 carbile in .357 magnum. Apparently made of unobtainium, nobody has 'em!
  20. Rode the BSFSR several years ago. Train was nothing special, just a diesel pusher and tram cars. The scenery is worth the trip, and includes historical info on the Blue Heron mine and coal tipple.
  21. No Lawyers - Only Guns and Money Comment period on the bATFe proposal to require reporting of multiple long gun sales is open thru May 31st. We were badly outnumbered by the Brady bunch the first go-around, thanks to their e-mail stuffing. John Richardson, et al have countered with an editable e-mail form letter. You know what to do.
  22. Just listened...good stuff!
  23. Anybody watch "The Marty Stuart Show" on RFD-TV? Saturday at 7:PM! That helps to scratch my itch for C&W (that's Country AND Western for you neophytes!) IMO, Marty's program invokes the best of the Buck Owens and Porter Wagoner shows. From last show: O they say that country music's gone to town, O'l Joe Clark has put on a cap and gown, What's this world a-comin' to, what's a country boy to do? O they say that country music's gone to town. Leroy Troy, doing his best Uncle Dave Macon.
  24. Baja, I started reading the train post, thinking you'd be a rich man if you'd only kept all those silver quarters. But by the end, I realized it's the memories that are priceless.
  25. Glad it went well, Steel - you got to back up one of my heros. Sorry I missed it - got a call yesterday to play at the Crossville Palace theater - couldn't pass that up! Not gonna tell how many notes I missed. (edit - found the Opry archive - I'll give it a listen when they post last night's show.)
