  1. If a routine traffic stop turns into felony charges because of some new law against legally owned property, passed in some dark legislative hall.   And said felony would take a substantial portion of one's life, in the form of imprisonment, and be a prohibited person for the remainder of said life.   How long before "I was in fear for my life" becomes the normal response to blue lights?
  2. Fentress County Sheriff Tony Choate made a stronger statement; I quoted and linked in the other thread.
  3. From Fentress Courier, our local weekly:     IMO a pretty good statement on the issue.
  4. What's the status of Joe Carr's HB 42? Does the Beavers/Butt bill supercede it?   Man I can't believe I just typed that...
  5. I still have my first .22 - a Remington 514 single shot. My dad bought it and a Savage about 1970, used, got both for $15.00! Great rifle if you can find one.
  6. Done, using address #2 for comment: No business w/ NY until this is repealed!
  7. The February 2012 edition of Handloader had an article (at link, but $) you may find interesting. "Loads for a Lightweight Revolver" started as a Ruger LCR review, then proceeded to some interesting loads. One of these was a gas check 158g LSWC over (charge withheld) Power Pistol. I reduced this slightly, as I used a LSWC with no gas check. Mine averaged about 875 fps from the snubby. Fired both in my .357 LCR and S&W Mdl 36 in .38 Special. Stout!
  8. I'm seriously considering a letter to our local sheriff (with copies of the Utah Sheriff's Assoc. letter, et al) asking what stance he intends to take to protect the rights of citizens in his jurisdiction.
  9. Today: NAGR's Second Amendment Petition Drive and letter generator.   Questions still remain about this organization, but you can sign without donating; besides, I'm really starting to like Rand Paul.
  10. NSSF Statement on the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show Clarifies the (soon to be former) role of Reed Exhibitions regarding the SHOT show. Someone asked in the other thread.
  11. This represents a sea change in second amendment activism.   It's heartwarming to see so many vendors, many of whom aren't even firearms related, pulling out in support of second amendment rights.   Probably having a completely different effect on the Cheaper Than Dick's of the industry...
  12. caveat emptor:   SurvivalBlog
  13. What he should have said: ‘We’re surrounded by gun-grabbers - the poor ba$tard$’ ;)   ...but it takes guts to say something like that.
  14. I got the Corker letter at least twice - without my mentioning Sandy Hook. :(
  15. From my father, then hunter safety class (once for college credit, again with my son), HCP class...and a lot of shooting.   Everything else I know, I learnt on the internet. ;)
  16. Cut DirecTV day after 'election' debacle. I refused to pay for propaganda. Will stay cut until they provide the option of subscribing only to the channels I watch. Ain't gonna happen.   My wife was not happy, until she discovered YouTube...
  17. Gun Appreciation Day/Guns Across America - Thanx for all that y'all did. Amazing that TN turns out 1,000+ while NY, much larger and under direct assault, only managed 2,000 or so.   We made plans locally before this morphed into a state capital march, complicated further by sick kids/grandkids; so no Nashvegas for us. My son and I still wore our, "DONT TREAD ON ME" tees to 2 local gun shops, plus wally and a hardware store. (son needed screws to mount a new evil black grip, doncha know!)   Spent my last three hours shooting a couple of "new" milsurps, et al.   After church yesterday morning, ran into the pastor and family at wally - at the ammo counter. :)
  18. Update: (and sorry for the hi jack!):   Got my 3 T53's - 2 of 3 ain't bad - bores are excellent, and one of those put 4/5 rounds in the black on a 4" at 100 meters - with my tired old eyes! My son got away with the other keeper before I could shoot it.   The third gun, however: looks like it was buried in a sandbar for a long time, then the receiver ground/sanded off. Has the worst bore I have ever seen, deeply pitted, although some rifling is visible. Fired moment of trash can lid, with an exceptionally loud report on 2-3 rounds. Two cases were split at the neck/shoulder. This is steel case Polish surplus that's given me no problem in other guns. I guess there is significant throat erosion to cause this.   Calling now for a return authorization...   PS: Also got a Steyr M95 Hungarian, beautiful rifle!
  19. Called senators today. I've previously sent multiple e-mails to every politician I could think of; and have encouraged co-workers, church-goers, and family to do likewise.   I make it a point to thank gun-related businesses for their support, specifically if they've made news while supporting the second amendment. I invited Remington to move to Tennessee. I've responded to polls and petitions out the wazoo. I've bought more gun stuff. (Don't tell my better half!)   Not likely to make Nashville tomorrow, as we already made other plans for Gun Appreciation Day. Will try to at least hit the local gun shops.
  20. Before Christmas, my wife and I were in a local jewelry/cosmetics store. The conversation behind the counter?   "Gun control is not the answer."   I was the only man in the place, and I didn't bring it up...
  21. Thanx, David. I found a 13 page version this afternoon; only had time to scan. Now there's 22 pages??!!!*$   You are correct about diversionary tactics. It's kinda hard to keep your eye on the ball.   Out for now - trying to compile a contact sheet for the folks at church tonight.
  22. There's a lot of wiggle room between the 23 one-liners, and the actual text of the regulations that will result.
  23. I would replace "misdemeanor" with "felony" but it's a good bill otherwise.
