I have a gen 2 Mini 14 Ranch, if that is what you are talking about. The one I have fires 226 or 556. My son in law also has a Mini 14 gen 2. Both rifles are fairly accurate, but not tack drivers. Mine will shoot 1 1/2 groups with most ammo. I have never put it through the ringer, on accuracy, because it is sufficient for what I wanted the rifle for. My understanding is the gen 1 were not as accurate although I never owned a gen 1. I probably have fired 400 rounds through the one I have using 4 different brands of 223 and 556 with no problems in the reliability department. Fires both equally well. The one I have satisfies me. I never expected to fire 5 round groups that a dime would cover. Don't believe my Mini will ever do that. My Mini is fun to shoot, however can get into one's pocket where ammo is concerned. I just do not have the funds to shoot as much as I once did. Mostly concentrate on my EDCs now. Edited to add; We purchased ours at Wal Mart a couple years after the gen 2s came out. I memory serves both were around the 500.00 mark each after taxes several years ago.

I would for practice. I have purchased Alabama Brand reloads for practice and they have been quality. Not sure they are still in business. Would not purchase it for S D purposes. Would stay with name brands for S D purposes.

Google S G Ammo. Tons of 22 LR ammo, however not sure they have Aguila.

I have pocket carried ever since TN passed the Concealed Carry Law bake when. Always carry in a good holster that covers the trigger. Neve carry anything in the gun pocket except my EDC and its holster. Have always strived to be as safe as possible where carry is concerned. I believe any gun is useful no matter the caliber. I don't know many people who want to be shot with any caliber. I am sure there are thugs walking about who will test a man's resolve and I met 3 one day. The 32 is the smallest I have ever carried and I used a flip up barrel Tomcat but it was just too small for my liking so I went to the Colt Pocketlite in 380 and carried it for 6 years. I researched the 32 quite a bit and most have the opinion it is a good caliber and is a fairly effective caliber. I was convinced enough to carry it for a while just didn't like the pistol I had. I recently read a book the security guard (Carl Chinn) wrote about a couple church shootings he was involved with. He was present with a 32 in his hand as the perp walked into the Colorado church campus in which he was security for. The perp had an AR 15 and a 9 MM and 40 caliber pistol on him. He had already killed several on another campus and shot 3 in the parking lot of Carl's church as he came in. The perp drove 70 miles away from the first campus, the came to the church where Carl was head of security for on the same Sunday morning. Carl said he seen the shooter shoot out he glass in the locked door and enter, coming in armed to the teeth, and he realized he was going to face him down with a very small 32 7 shot pistol. Luckly for him, Jean Assam stepped out, just in front of Carl, from a parallel hallway and confronted the shooter with her Beretta 9 mm Police service pistol and stopped his assault. Jean had been a former Police officer shortly before she had volunteered to be on the armed security team in the mega Colorado church. Carl got a bigger pistol to carry after this confrontation. Jean Assam has a web site, and you can Google her name and read her story if you like. I am not on a security team and I know most of you all are not also. Don't have plans of getting into a running gun battle with anyone today either. The 32 should do an adequate job for self-defense although I choose to carry a 9 MM or 357 today, because I can. Helps my confidence level. I, like Carl Chinn, felt under gunned with my little flip up brl Beretta Tomcat. If it works for you, then do it. Edited to add content.

I purchase guns for tools, nothing more. Don't have a love affair with any, just tools. Not a collector or hoarder. Strictly for hunting and self defense since I don't hunt any longer but just know I can if the need arises. That survival instinct thing. Guess I am boring. Only get juiced with a good name brand tool. S W and Ruger my go to. Don't have a long barrel shotgun any longer, gave them all to grandsons. Would purchase a long brl for my mossy mdl 500 12 ga if ever found one. Edited to add; Deer rifle is a Savage Axis 7 MM 0 8.

I have had the same dentist for years. His dad saw me in 1978, and I have been with that office ever since. Have his emergency number on file. He does not pull teeth on me because of heart disease and the meds I am on. I go every 4 months to get my teeth cleaned. Get every cavity filled as soon as possible. I need to pre-med, before doing anything in my mouth because I have a knee replacement. The military messed up my teeth. They ground every filling out of my mouth and refilled every tooth I had. They ground way too much away when doing their maintenance, they called it. I have been plagued with bad teeth, ever since. Down to 2 teeth on top and looking for upper denture, probably soon. I have a partial plate full of teeth, but they need something to hang it on so now only 2 places too do that. Loose one and here comes the denture. Not cheap guys. Sorry for your trouble DeepSouth. Dental stuff is serious. Edited to add; I had a friend that I worked with, and he had an abscessed tooth which he did not take care of. The poison/Infection from it got into his blood stream and he was off work for 5 months. It almost killed him. Very serious guys. Took him over a year to get back to normal and he was on antibiotic for months.

Noid, I just recently took my EDC's out and practiced with them. The Max 9 shoots on target for me. I put 2 mags of Winchester Defense High pressure S D ammo through it and can shoot it well for 76 Y O hands. Also took my 7 shot revolver 357 Mag and MP 9c and fired my old carry ammo in them. I fire the carry ammo every 6 months to keep it fresh. I really like the Max 9 for pocket carry. Purchased a Hellcat for my son-in-law, which is a micro also, but have not fired it yet. Edited to add; Choatecav, I had a little Beretta like yours but it was kinda hard to manipulate in my hands, so I traded it for a Colt Pocketlite in 380, which I carried for several years back when I had much more control of my hands. Arthritis and neuropathy have griped my hands now, so I need something a little larger in my pocket.

I am a pocket pistol fan and that is my EDC, however I like your collection of 32s'. I have never carried anything less than a 380, however there is not a lot of difference in the 32 and 380 as far as effectiveness is concerned. I tend to dress around my pocket guns and do carry almost mid/micro size revolver (K frame 7 shot) and a Ruger Max 9 (micro 14Shot ext mag). My wife fusses at me for wearing deep pocket Carpenter Jeans and dress trousers that are 1 size too large. Carhart jeans work well also. I have the capability to carry a S W M P 9C 2.0 IWB if I feel the need for more rounds(16). Pocket carry is my preferred carry mode. The only thing bothers me is drawing when seated. When I travel I always have the S W MP in the consol to grab in a pinch. Also my wife can use it as one of us always stays in my truck. Fuling up is the most dangerous thing we do on the road, IMO.

I just ordered 500 more rounds of Winchester Defense 147 Gr + P bonded 9 MM ammo from SG ammo yesterday. I have plans of having plenty of my carry SD and Practice ammo on hand for my 2 EDC calibers. Need another 1000 of 38 Spl practice and I should be good for this flavor, also another 250 rounds of SD ammo in 38Spl and 357 mag then be good on these ones. Hard to pay for but I am "biting the bulllet" so-to-speak. Farnum stated in his article most ammo can just about become extinct, from major suppliers, because of this shortage of components. You guys do what you want. Just saying I am not going to be caught with my paints down this time, like I was the last time.

My steel targets are hung with a slight (2 1/2") downward cant, meaning the splatter is focused downward into the ground just in front of the hanging steel. The splatter has whittled a 4 ft tall 2X4 half-into adjacent to, and downward beside the steel gong. All the steel is hanging on 14" long rubber straps which allows the steel to swing backwards when hit, which also directs the splatter downward. I once had a red oak back stop and I had a bullet come directly back to me and brought blood on my lower shin one time. I do realize what you are saying is totally true. We always wear eye protection anyways. Can't be too safe around guns and live ammo, Deerslayer. thanks for the tip.

Every 6 months is my choice. I like to get the practice and experience the feel, often, of the S D ammo recoil. Big difference in practice and S D ammo recoil, for sure + P ammo. Didn't notice the hand hurting thing before like I did this time. I know my ammo is very protected in storage, but I clean and lube my guns often so don't want to take the chance of oil contamination. I have read where it takes oil over a year, but I take no chances. I keep all my ammo, except for what is in my EDC's, in military ammo cans and they are stored inside one of my closets. My house is climate controlled so minimal chance of big climate swings. Keep the house at 74 summer and 72 winter. John Farnum put out a paper on purchasing ammo. He predicts a big ammo drought coming also. He says it will be a component problem on the horizon. Mentions 2 components that will be almost extinct for our civilian ammo supply. Also the Israeli and Russin/Ukraine wars are sucking up supplies. Said one of the major ammo company leaders told/warned him. Better lay in a good supply guys.

Went out to my back yard and fired some practice rounds off this morning. Just purchased some of the Winchester 147 Gr + P Defense ammo, from SG Ammo, and wanted to make sure my Ruger Max 9 and my SW M P 9C 2.0 would fire them without any problems. The new ammo looks just like the Win PDX 1 147 Gr + P but has a little different design bullet in it. Both Pistols fires the PDX well, however better safe than sorry when it comes to changes in ammo in carry handguns. Also took my old revolver and burned the 7 rounds in it also. That carry ammo was about 6 months old so time to replace it. I was 100% with all 3 handguns, in the hit thingie, on a 6" steel target at 7 yards. I always paint the target between magazines or cylinders of firing to make sure on hit ratio. Cost a lot of money, now a days, to fire off much S D ammo. Some of this (357 Mag) was over 1.00 per round. Old man can't stand much of that! Edited to add; My old hand is kinda aching, from all the 357 and 9 MM + P. Got a little sore during the firing. First time I have noticed that in a while.

Watched Ike Eastman take a 6X6 bull this morning on "Eastmans Hunting Adventures" TV program. He was concerned that if the elk went 200 yards, after being shot, they would need to get permission to enter neighboring private property. He shot the bull at 390 yards with a 300 Win Mag and the elk went 40 yards and dropped. Ike believes in the 300 W M for a quick kill.

I am disabled vet and purchased 2 new Glocks at Outpost Armory with the blue discount. Best I remember it was around 60.00 at the time. I do have an active ID card with my picture on it. Edited to add; didn't work for recent Smith Wesson purchase.

When I was a kid, in KY during hunting season, we took our shotguns to school and stored them in the coat room until school was out then hunted rabbits on the way home. A Yankee family moved in our community and the mother found out about our guns and complained. The principal made us bring the shotguns to his office, to appease her concerns, and we had to leave them there until school was over. Edited to add. I was in the 4th grade and 9 Y O. My friend was 10.

Just as the fellow suggest in the NRA article, I have concentrated on S W MP 2.0 Pistol line. Have several in different sizes. I own 3 Glocks but preferer the SW's. My revolvers are the same also. All 7 shot 2" brl 38/357's. Also have a 3' 7 shot revolver but too long to pocket carry so it goes on the hip. IMO, this is wise. That is my EDC combination. All the rest of my handguns are just for fun.

Had a 15 Y O student get stabbed at Okland High School yesterday. News did not say stabbed with what.

At what distance, self defense? When my event happened, while walking to the mail box, I was within 21 feet of the closest thug. The other was within 50 feet while advancing fast toward me, and another was still in the truck. It started at a much further distance, but very soon got to within just a few feet. Not saying one will ever need to practice self defense at longer distances, but if one does one will need to be doing a lot of explaining when the event is over. I am not a fan of electronic devices in serious/L-D situations. Red Dots may/are fun to play with, but! JMHO, and yours is OK also. Total familiarity is a must with your EDC. For sure for us old folks. Changing EDC often is something that burns a lot of ammo if you stay proficient with them all. I can see carrying a larger handgun IWB, and a backup in the pocket, however one needs to practice with both, OFTEN. Many carry the same configuration, but the pocket one much smaller. I have done it both ways. Pistol IWB, and revolver pocket carry as backup. Or 2 pistols, one 16 rounds on board IWB and 13 pocket carry. Its a your choice thing, IMO. Edited to add; I had a 2" 7 shot revolver in my pocket the day the 3 thugs confronted me. Just thankful I did not need to pull it and see if 7 was enough. It was for that day. My neighbor wasn't as fortunate.

I have carried the same setup for years. See no need to change now. My practice is always the same. Have often thought of changing to a larger compacity but just haven't seen the need to. Seven rounds in a revolver seems adequate to me. Hope/pray no running gun battles are in my future.

TN past teacher carry last session. To my knowledge not one teacher has qualified, for many different reasons. Mostly the bigger school districts will not allow teacher carry. State needs to change that, IMO. Then if teachers want to carry they can become qualified. Also, to my knowledge this school had the famed "Panic Button" that came out of the last shooting discussions. News reports said the button was activated. Didn't work well enough, did it. In the Nashville shooting the lockdown worked to deny further access to the kids, but still had casualties. Sorry, but the "Panic Button" does not work 100%. Not the perfect solution. I feel so sorry for these parents and that school. Prayer they can get the handle on this but wonder if they ever will. My solution is "Armed, Dedicated, Well Trained, Teachers", but most can't go there at this time. Quicker repose is better, but not perfect either. I really don't know if there is a "Perfect Solution'" IMO.

Since when did the 2nd amendment ever come under majority rule. It is a right given by the constitution, not something anyone/anywhere can just vote away. What a bunch of stooges thinking they can do that. If I lived in Memphis, "I would Move." Simple guys.

My project is poured and top finished. They will come back and take the forms off soon. It is 24" above ground level on the far end from the driveway. Looks like a deck but poured out of concrete. I almost built a deck however I am glad we decided on concrete. No cleaning and staining or upkeep. The patio is 15'X60' and is large chunk of concrete. Thinking about sloping around the edges, however I just may keep it like it is. Kinda like the raised deck look. I will purchase one concert step to exit if I keep it like it is now.
