Looking to purchase another ride. My wife wants a 2017-18 GMC Denali SUV, or a Surburban. Know anyone that has one for sale "Reasonable" If that is possible? Hate buying cars. Most frustrating.

I have the SW MP series and not the shield. Have 3 of them. Totally reliable with 100's of rounds through them. No experience with the other 2. Total S W Fan. Also have a Ruger Max 9 which is a good one also for pocket carry. Carry the Ruger to church when I wear Kakis. Smaller pockets. -

mikegideion, I am NOT in favor of waiting to be shot in your room. Rt101 what about Jean Assam, who stopped the Colorado Church Shooter armed with the AR 15 and she has a 9 MM pistol. Or the Church Security team captain at the Sugarland Church of Christ in Texas. He made a head shot, with a 357 Sig pistol, on a shotgun toting perp at 40 paces dropping him on the spot. It is possible and can be done! I agree not many teachers will apply, IMO. But to use the other sides musings, "If It Stops One School shooter, early, It Will Be Worth it." -

That training comes from the Universities where they go to school originally. Just look at the demonstrations going on campuses now. The Ivey League colleges are the worst. They spue hatred and distrust of anything to do with guns, period. People are sheep. -

I feel this law will help those less populated counties that have no SRO the most. I really think Rutherford County will join the anti-counties soon. We have had SRO since shortly after Columbine. Down the road it may change in these more metropolitan counties when they see that blood will not be flowing because of teachers who carry in other schools. For sure this is a hot button issue in TN right now. This could be a good thing, IMO. For sure, cut down on response time if they work it out correctly. Cutting down on response time cuts down on body count, as many of you know. Won't stop it but can cut the count. I know when my Marine friend backed up our SRO, here locally before the Gun Free Zone was set in place, they had a plan, and backup plan, and the teacher would dawn a bright yellow vest that had SECURITY printed in front and back. They trained on their own dime spent many, many hours when school was not in session. The SRO trained constantly at the Sherriff department also. They all had mobile radio contact with the principal included. The students had no Idea my friend concealed carried. Guys it can work and be beneficial "IF" implemented correctly. Edited to add; This is a totally "volunteer" program. The news media persist in broadcasting the stories like it is mandatory for teacher carry which is totally incorrect. The Nashville news has been totally against this law and has reported numerous false and misleading stories nightly. Folks, they don't call that style of reporting true unbiased journalistic reporting, but indoctrination garbage, IMO. The TV anchors, in Nashville, seem to be seething with distain about this subject. I, for one hope it is beneficial and a service that will not be needed in the future of our schools. Kids need to be safe and feel safe, and many don't now because of the way this subject has been handled in the news. -

The Govenor signed the bill today. Will be law soon. -
The pair of hummingbirds at our feeders are feeding regularly now. I have 2 feeders out, one on the front porch, and one in the back of the house. That feeder is very close to our breakfast bay picture window, and we get a show while we eat our meals. We also have 2 bird seed feeders hanging on tree limbs out the same window. Bird shows extraordinaire!

The Governor said on the news, last evening, He intends to sign the bill. I was wrong because I thought he would not. Egg on my face! I too agree there will not be many teachers signing up. Training is rigorous and costly. May be a few, and if not many signs up, I believe they will tweak the law next year. I think the Legislature intends to give trained willing teachers an opportunity to carry. I hope some teachers will want too. The people wanted change and they are getting it. The state has already made funds available to every school district to harden security in their schools and now it is up to the schools to take advantage of enhanced security measures and implement them. IMO every school district should have a security expert in place to see to the needs in that district. Those in Nashville screaming and shouting in the State House gallery, the Covenant Moms, and those on the street demonstrating did not get their way. I, for one, do not agree with them and believe Tennesseans have gotten political gains in what has transpired so far. The state has prepared a way, and funded it, to achieve success in enhancing security in schools, but the counties must step up and do it. When this law goes into place teachers will have an avenue to move forward with concealed carry in schools. How many will do it, that remains to be seen. CHANGE, Tennesens got some. You may not like it, but change is here. I for one think it is gain. Will shootings stop, I sure hope so, but, IMO, realistically I don't think so. -

I believe I read, somewhere, that the Covenant shooter, wrote in her journal, she passed on other locations because she thought they had too much security. That should tell us something. If this becomes the law of our land, there will be a big expense getting the required mandates of this law. Time consuming and training is not cheap. Thearmededucator, kudos to you. Train yourself well should this come to be the law. Will not be easy. I viewed some of the Ohio required training, in their shoot house, and it is not easy. One really needs a good mindset and be able to make good decisions rapidly. Ohio had several volunteers, and "few" made the whole way and graduated, however that is what the training is for. I have no doubt good people can be trained to do this job. The deterrent effect will be over the top. Even the theater shooter drove past several theaters because they had security and picked his easiest target. If done right it will be successful, IMO. One of my daughters teachers was armed, with the principals and SRO Officer corporation, the whole 8 years my daughters were in our local elementary school. Then the Sate put schools in a gun free statis and Johnie and the principal retired. We enjoyed a new school building which was constructed with 2 main hallways and built in a U shape. The SRO was always in the entrance, office, and cafeteria wing, and Johnie was in the other education wing at all times. They had radio contact. That was an excellent setup. Johnie was a Marine during the Vietnam War and had a good head on him. Our Principal was a non- combat veteran also. They both came back from the war and used the G I bill to become educators. Johnie was also the assistant principal. I never worried about my girls at that school. Rutherford County has had SROs in them for years now. We are one of the lucky counties because of the foresight of a Sherrif who set the program in place and funded it many years ago after Columbine. I have confidence this law can be a big benefit if done right. Edited to add content. -

The TN Senate passed this Teacher Carry Bill. We will see if the Gov signs it or Vetos. He could just do nothing and let it become law. What say You? -
Without the US Ukraine would be Russa again. Would you care about that? One thing that amazed me is how ineffective the Ruskies were in this war. When the opposing Army got more than rocks to throw, the Russian Army turned out to be a paper tiger in front of them. Amazing, and this war was on their border, in their back yard so to speak.

Agreed on the comments will be varied. I have a "Fantastic Plastic" Ruger Max 9 and I favor heavier along with + P. My Max 9 is stocked with Hornady 147 Gr + P ammo. I also like Hornady Critical Defense which is 115 Gr, and the Critical Duty which is a + P with a 135 Gr bullet and built to Police Specs. Suppose to be superior for metal/glass car body penetration. Several of the premium Self Defense brand loadings will be sufficient in these micro guns. Purchase you a few and see which you, and your Pistol likes.

We now have 2 birds visiting our feeders regularly. A male and female. Don't know if they are travelers or home bodies, but they are frequent feeders. It is 36, here in Lascassas, this morning, and they are flying slow.

When a person can visit a restaurant in Nashville, and shoot 10 people "because he was disrespected," we got problems.

Why is it no one even wants to discuss the elephant in the room. Who is killing who, mostly.

Seen the first Hummingbird today. Put my feeders out. Hope they don't freeze tonight.

Grunt, I am doing well also but have noticed my zip is lost. Could be medicine induced. I walked 10 min fairly brisk on my treadmill today. Felt good after but they told me not to push it for a couple weeks. I go the end of the month for Rehab interview, but probably will not start until after the 1 of May. I am in heart failure and am in hopes of getting my heart output to be over 50. Should be 50 to 75% but down to 30 % at present. Cardiologist said I could function pretty well if I can increase it to 50%. Heart Muscle damage is rough to overcome and there is danger of enlarging the heart while it is trying to catch up. Oh well, enough of gloom and doom. Hope you do well also. A blood clot got me this time, possibly because of the Coved fiasco. Seems they are having blood clot problems with the new strain of coved after having it. I had coved 4 months ago.

Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers. Getting Dr and Physical Therapy in place today. Also need to do follow-up visit to my Cardiologist at Nashville's ST Thomas West and my local family DR. Getting started on the uphill climb and praying for some success. First time I have started in such a whole but that is life. To borrow from Minie Pearl. "I'm just so proud to be here."

Woke up Monday morning with my truck sitting on my chest. Woke my wife and told her I think I am having an attack. She called 911 took the ambulance 20 minutes to get to my house. Ten minutes later I was on the road to Ascencion St Thomas in Murfreesboro. There about 20 minutes and was taken to Cath lab. Had a blood clot in one of my bypass arteries. Now heart muscle damage and am in heart failure with only 30% heart output (should be 50 to 75 % at my age) but finally home. Not feeling real bad but am somewhat weak. Will need serious rehab and rest. Heart muscle damage and in danger of several bad outcomes in the short time future. I got to get the weight off and watch diet plus take 3 different heart related new meds now and pray for the best. Consensus is, most probably caused by my bout with Coved about 2 months ago. Seems a lot of people who get the new strain of Coved are having blood clots shortly afterwards. Looking to an uphill climb at 76 now. My wife and girls are very glad I am home. Life is short guys. Hope you all are prepared for your demise, I am. I am a child of Jesus the Christ and live for HIM. I am sure my attack took place 5 minutes down the road to the Hospital and could tell the Paramedic was excited with trying to show it. Kept running heart strips all the way to the Hospital. Both my arms were tingling and almost useless, and I began sweeting profusely. I was not scared and was at total, peace, after my prayer, with whatever happened. Only way to be that way is to be a child of Jesus, guys. I did feel terrible concerning and sorrow for my wife because if worse came to worse she would be left alone. Think about eternity guys, please.

The 308 is a good all-around caliber. I purchased an AR 15 last year. I did not practically like the 556/223 caliber as I carried one in Vietnam. Still not much on that caliber however I just decided to purchase my Springfield Armory Saint because I still can. I went to Outpost Armory, in Murfreesboro, after a S W AR, but the sales guy convinced me to purchase the Saint. The all metal rifle along with metal sights appealed to me even though it weighs a tad bit more. I have always favored metal guns. Go for it if you think you want it. I did. I will say I did have a Ruger Ranch Hand Gen II, in 223/556, and have really enjoyed plinking with it. The gen II's are a little more accurate than the I's were. I like mine.

Even if this bill passes the House, and Senate IMO the Govenor will NOT sign it. Deerslayer, the reason other teachers don't want guns in the school is simply FEAR of guns. IF an SRO can be trained to carry a gun to protect children in schools, a teacher can be trained just as well. Now that is a "common sense" gun law. This will be all over soon. -
Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman finally get a little Justice
pop pop replied to Omega's topic in General Chat
Sad to say, but justice will be paid now. If he did kill them, no slick lawyer or jury will get him off now. I pray he didn't, but that is OJ's ball game. Once you go where he is, and the Bible says he is in the realm of departed spirits (Luke 16:19-31), no changing things there. It will be what it will be. Wouldn't want to wish hell on anyone, and I am by no means inferring OJ was guilty. God knows. I prayed God will have mercy upon OJ's soul. Edited to add; when we arrive at the point OJ just passed, eternity is ahead. I am trying to go to the good place, torment is not my goal. Bible says "Abrahams's bosom, (Jewish term "A place of great comfort") or torment. My goal is for A's Bosom. I have accomplished the things to put myself into a position to be able to take advantage of God's saving grace through faith in His Son, Jesus the Christ. Hope you have also. We all will only answer for ourselves. -
TWRA re-introduced Black Bears, about 8-10 years ago, in the Big South Fork Park. When we checked in, they told us no left food left outside. The last time we camped there the Rangers patrolled the park constantly looking for campers that left food or unlocked coolers out. The bears roamed the park, and they did not want them to get accustomed to eating people food. The bears migrated down to Cookville a couple years back and I guess they are moving this way as well. I really don't care to have them roaming my yard, at night, but guess I can't do anything about that.

Two farmers has spotted a black bear, on Jefferson Pike, in Lascassas this week. Black Bears! "Howed they ever get here?"
