We had a great time. All our daughters and families were here for a week. We did lots of outdoor activities. Our first born has a horse farm with 2 4 wheelers and our grandkids rode them big time. Took family pictures on horses and in the woods on her farm. Went on trail rides, and hikes all over her 90 acre farm. We eat like kings, big turkey and ham thanksgiving day feast with all the trimmings. Had country ham, biscuit, bacon, sausage, and egg breakfast every morning. The girls got in Black Friday shopping and we generally had a wonderful week. Had not seen two of our daughters and families for over a year. It was time for us. "Reed Manor" was full once again. Hope we don't get sick??? Hope you guys had a good Thanksgiving holiday yourselves. May go to Charleston S C for Christmas. Will see how coved goes.

Both my 380's were S W late models and sent both back, but neither become reliable. I switched to a Kahr P 9 which is about the same size and reliable, but much more blocky. The PPKs were wonderful feeling pistols and I really liked them, but not for reliable service to me. They really are nice pistols IMO.

I had 2 PPKs 380 and neither would keep shooting. Had all kinds of failures with both. Purchased one used and one new. Hope you guys have better luck than I did.

Alleycat, God hates no one. His word says he loves all and wants all to come to Him through faith in His Son, Jesus the Christ. Read your Bible and allow it into your heart(The Mind). Christ worldwide invitation; (Matthew 11:28-30) Come to Me, ALL who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you. and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you shall find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My load is Light. Each persons choice to make. The way God intended it. Edited to add; Bigun, you allowed nature to take it's course concerning your 3 precious loved ones. One does not make those decisions easily or play God when making this kind of very hard decisions. Take comfort in that. I said it earlier, euthanasia is a completely different situation.

My sweetie has a MDL 65 Lady-Smith 38/Spl357Mag in 3" for her house gun. She loves the gun. Shoots it well and she has it loaded with Cor Bon DPX 38Spl. I would keep the Smith. Got one just like it that rides my safe, but my pocket.

My family are all here, and I am so glad. Hope we stay clear from Coved, but we wanted to see them, a few for the first time in a year. We had the 12th birthday party for our youngest grandson Tuesday afternoon. I purchased him a Realtree "Edge" Camo hunting outfit. Great time. He put it on and promptly went out in the rain to see if it was water proof. It was. Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

God's plan is for nature to take it course at life's end. When one uses extraordinary means to keep someone alive then they are going against nature. This is not to say taking antibiotics is going against nature. My mother died of Alzheimer's. Those patients, if their body is strong enough, will live until they can't swallow. When that happens they either starve, stroke and no longer are able to eat, or die from lack of water. This happened to my mother. She had a living will. Hospice honored her will. My sister had legal power of attorney. She talked, at length with my mother about her wishes. My sister gave the DR's her living will and allowed her to pass on. It bothered me. I went to an old preacher and talked to him about it. He told me nature took its course with her. When one signs a living will they are, in fact, saying, allow nature to take its course and thereby not playing God. Works for me guys, and I am a Christian. I have plans to give a daughter legal P O Attorney and my living will, and so is my wife. Euthanasia is a different situation.

The 357 is the ugly duckling of the self defense world. Has best stats of any of the smaller handguns. One must go one must go to 44 and above to get better.

I have a Taurus Mdl 617 which is a 357/38 7 shot with a 2" brl. Matter of fact, I have 3. Been carrying one for 9 years now. One is ultra lite in 38 Spl only. Have had good luck with the 3 I have. Two are a little heavier and bigger than a S W Snubbie, but has 7 on board instead of 5. I carry mine in my front pocket in a modified Desantsis Nemesis pocket holster. I like them and nothing at all wrong with having 2 extra on board, IMO.

I am reading a book by Dave Spaulding, "Handgun Combatives". In most books trainers talk about thugs can pick an easy target by the subtle ques one sends froth from the manner they carry themselves and they way they appear to others in public. Well! I just realized that body language reading also works the other way. Give you an example. When I was perused in my own front yard, while going to the mail box a few years back by 3 thugs driving down our road, one of them read my body language. Edited to add: Furtive Movements As I squared up to the first thugs continued advance toward me, after being told not too, the second pursuer read my intent and stopped in his tracks. Loudly told the other, "it ain't worth getting shot over." Then the first guy stopped his advance. I perceived that they were coming at me in a very hurried pace. What he read was, when he reached that 28 to 30' line, (I am oLd and slow)I had set in my mind that I was going to react, I dropped the mail, I slumped, crouching forward, run my hand quickly in my pocket, set my feet, and dropped my head in a fighting stance, another follower, of the 3, read my intent that I was preparing to fight, then he/they quickly decided they wanted no part of me. He told the other guy to discontinue his aggression and he did. I just realized this happened after reading this book. That thug surely read my body language, and backed down, just as I had read theirs. Now I am not bragging, but was totally glad that the incident ended, with me just being cussed at, by them, and me not being beat to within a inch of my life on that day. They all slowly retreated to their truck, entered it, all the while cursing me. When I got the chance, I beat feted it to my front porch, and collapsed in the front porch swing with knees of jelly. Thanked God my morning was not painful or deadly. I had no doubt that was what they had intended to do to me. I read the aggressor's body language. Matter of fact, I am convinced they were the ones that almost beat one of my neighbors to a pulp later on that morning. He was doing the same thing as me, except he was 84 and legally blind, but had a little peripheral vision. His son told me he never really recovered after the beating and robbery. Poor guy died 3 weeks later. Since he didn't die shortly after the severe beating they said he died of old age. Makes the crime stats look better for the county. That body language reading goes both ways, guys. Trainers have been beating that into our heads, for sure, for years. I was a little naïve in thinking I could continue to go to my mail box, as I had previously done for 30 years, IN This Day-In-Time. Almost paid a big price for being naïve guys. I post this here so some of you young guys can learn from my experience. Many older guys here have traveled miles down this path. Dave said, "If you look like meat, they will most likely eat."

I have purchased a box of CCI Subsonic 22 LR Segmented ammo. I have a squirrel problem and decided to try some. Gray squirrels have cost me over $2,000. in the past 2 years. Chewed holes in my RV grey water tank and eat the gas line off my truck I pull the RV with. I am thankful they have not got to the wiring yet. They were trying to get into my attic, in the house, and coming in the garage when the door was open. My neighbors are experiencing the problem as well. Talked to TWRA and they said if they were a menus, then I could dispatch them, but not eat them. Could only keep the during hunting season. I am using a Model 60 Marlin semi auto and was concerned the ammo may not cycle through it. Well I have used 20 rounds and had 2 fte. I can live with that. I also like the segmented bullet design as it supposed to split into 3 segments, and cut down on possibility of collateral damage. I am very careful and only shoot in safe directions, mostly on the ground. I shot a squirrel last week and heard the slower traveling bullet hit the animal with a loud thud. I never heard that sound with full power 22 LR ammo. The ammo is about 1/3 quieter than regular ammo. I do use hearing protection but my wife said the ammo is a lot quieter that the other ammo. So far I am well pleased with the use of the ammo. I am sure my neighbors like the quieter ammo as well.

ReeferMac, I put cardboard and made the window ledge so the bird cannot land on it. It is there this morning and I don't know where it roosted. Will investigate. Omega, you could be correct. We have 3 wedding venues within a mile from our home. This bird seems not to know how to forage on it's own. I have not put feed out for it in 4 days now. Hoping it will leave.
