  1. Saw a small snake crawling across the road in Rockvale TN yesterday at 10:00.
  2. Been using Turbo Tax and already got my Stimulus check on Monday. Paid my credit card off early, but I do that monthly anyways. Cost me 43.oo to purchase the System but my daughter uses it for all of us.
  3. I am 73 and my physical condition is sorely lacking due to age, weight, loss of strength caused by diabetic neuropathy, and several serious medical problems. All of you guys are headed in that direction, if you live to be a ripe old age, so that, for me, does not translate into giving up on trying, to the best of my fading ability, to protect myself, or my loved ones, should I be "forced" "FORCED" too. One thing the officer did have was mindset and will to finish the fight. He was put into the position of reacting to her pulling the pistol just like most private citizens will need to react too. Hard to start from behind the curve. Second guessing is immaterial really. It is what it is! De-escalation, the big catch all in Police work now, he tried, didn't work. Even the Chief brought that "word" out in his news interview. If private citizen does not attempt to do that, in todays social climate, and for sure if there is a ethnicity difference, it could possibly look bad on his actions, even though we do not have a "must try to retreat law" in TN. De-escalation is the catch all now! We all had better get accustomed to it. "What would a pier do if faced with the same situation as you were forced into." That is the standard all will face. If you can "get out of Dodge", you/we had better try to do it. "Try to de-escalate" think about it????
  4. Been going to my daughter's horse farm and started cutting trails through the woods. Great therapy for me. I am trying to look past politics mainly because it depresses me completely and I can do very little about it. Really should quit watching the news also. Sad watching that women's mother on TV about her daughter she lost and not knowing why. Glad they releases the body cam and dash cam evidence. Should stop needless rioting in "The Vill." Just can't shoot a cop and expect to walk away free guys. Really sad for her family, and officer, and prayers for them. Retired and lovinit. Turned 73 last week. Am a Christian, and have done the things, which is required, to put myself into a position to be able to receive God's saving grace, for myself. Can't do that for you guys so you need to find Christ and put yourself into a position to get some of God's grace for yourself. That grace only comes through belief and acceptance of Christ being the Son of God, and confession of God's Son Jesus Christ as your Savior. Then being baptized for your past sins. Read these examples for yourself in your Bible. (Acts 2:37-40). Then read (Acts 8:25-39) for an example of "an Ethiopian Receiving Christ as his savior. Then after this is accomplished, then living a faithful life until your day comes when you will go home to Christ and God who are in heaven after the final white thrown judgment we will all face. You do your part and God and Christ will do theirs. I am confident because I believe God's word revealed to us in the Holy Scriptures. Read that for yourself in your Bible. That what I mean when I said I have put myself into a position to receive God's saving grace, and thereby having faith I will see Them both (God and Jesus) in heaven when my day of final judgment has come. If you have questions I would like to discuss any of this with you, and we both can sit and see what the Scriptures say, or you can simply read your Bible. Nothing freaky about this guys. That good enough Hipower? Freaky Friday chat.
  5. I have had both shots of Moderna and my sweet wife had her second Thursday. Way to go. I am at high risk because of agent orange and have many risks. I had no ill effects and sweetie has had a little nausea yesterday, but can't say it was from the shot because she eat something she said was not really good, and that may be where her sick feeling came from," maybe". Other than that we have had no side effects. She is fine this morning. Praying for you and hope things go well for you. Listen to your doctors Hipower. They want the best for your health. You made a wise choice, IMO, for what it's worth.
  6. Possumslayer, never shot for serious grouping, just shooting steel gongs. I put the 20 rounds on a 8" gong at 15 yards, off hand, with 1 miss. The pistol is new and I have not set it up on sandbags nor rung it out. Just wanted to see if it would eat some blunt HP ammo. I will in the future. Only have 70 rounds through it just testing reliability. I am going to do some real testing for accuracy as soon as I get a chance because I want to carry it in the future. I do like the way it shoots and how easy it is to rack the slide. I do have a MP 9C 2.0 that I have been carrying for over a year so the platform is not new to me. This pistol operates the same as the 2.0, but the 2.0 9C is harder to rack the slide on. I have been having problems with loss of strength, from diabetic neuropathy in my hands and arms, and Arthritis pain this winter.
  7. Just took the MP EZ 9 out and ran 20 rounds of Federal 147 gr Hydra Shock JHP through it. It fired them all with no problems. The price on the box was $20.00 for 50. OH, the days of yester year. Those 20 rounds would be 40. + today. So far the EZ is eating everything. It is a fun pistol to shoot and carries quiet nicely in a Comp Tac Minatour IWB holster. Been wearing it around the house and while doing yard work. Need to run several mor through it to make sure it is reliable. Plan to carry Rem Golden Saber 127 gr bonded in it.
  8. I purchased a Savage 7MM 08 a few months back and decided to take it out and sight in the Weaver 3X9 scope in for deer hunting last fall. I also purchased a Savage 308 with the same scope on it and let my Son In law have it for my youngest grandson to deer hunt with. I sighted the 308 in and it is truly a very nice rifle and scope combination. Grandson shot a doe with it last fall in the youth hunt week. My SIL said they shot her at dark and the scope illuminated the target great in very low light conditions. He was totally impressed with the Savage Axis 1. This model does not have the best savage trigger, but it is adequate, actually quiet good trigger on it. I went on to sight the 7MM 08 and I loaded it and as I closed the bolt I noticed it was very hard to close. Got the rifle set in the Caldwell Led Sled then pulled the trigger. Nothing but the trigger click. Went to eject the shell, Winchester 140 gr Power Point, and could not get the spent casing to eject. Had to take a hammer and drive the brass casing out. Looked down the brl and it was blocked. Didn't try to fire it again however I tried to load another round and same thing, couldn't close the bolt freely so I didn't force it. I just got it back from the Gun Smith yesterday and it was a squib load. He could tell by the burn on the end of the bullet. I knew about those type loads, but never had one before. Consequently because it was so hard to force the bolt closed, on the first round, I wondered if something was wrong with the chamber in the rifle, so it took it to the Smith to be on the safe side. Turns out it was just a squib load(round loaded with no powder inside and primer fired leaving the bullet in the brl). It cost me some "Lollie," however I am now sure there is nothing wrong with the rifle. Actually he fired another round through the rifle as I had taken the box of ammo with me that the initial round came from. I had ear protection on and couldn't hear the primer fire. If that ever happens to you don not force another shot because it could possibly blow the rifle up in your face. Glad all is well with my Savage Axis. Have plans to sight it in soon. Edited for spelling. BAD spell check!
  9. Like the Texas Star. Need to get me one.
  10. I had an experience with a 22 mag rifle on a dog pack that were killing our calves, several years ago. I shot a Red Bone hound(110 lbs) and the 22 MAG gutted him. The R B was charging me, in the field, and I shot, aiming for his head, however as he ran his head was bobbing, and I hit him in the middle of his chest. It blew his insides out his butt, and he looked like a stovepipe after being shot. Don't mean to be insensitive, but that pack of dogs cost us thousands that year until we thinned them out. There were 7 "city" dogs, (Rented farm was in the city limits), in the pack. We eliminated 5 of them, German Shephard, Doberman, and Red Bone hound, along with 2 smaller house dogs. Never had another calf maimed or killed after that incident. This was back in the early 80's. A calf with its ears or tailed maimed would sell for half what a normal calf would bring plus they outright killed 12 calves. The 22 mag rifle really surprised me how much power it has over a regular 22 LR. I diffidently encourage the 22 mag for your job, but don't know how effective it will be out of a shorter brl revolver. Sure worked great, out of a rifle, for me. I believe that hound would have attacked me, judging from the way he was charging me in that open field. Was glad I dropped him about 30 yards in front of me. The property owner and my father in law was on the opposite side of the pack from me.
  11. Almost 72 hours since my second Moderna shot. No side effects so far.
  12. I took the EZ out and run 40 rounds through it between rains. It was too muddy to carry all my gear out so I just fired it for reliability purposes. I had no problem with the grip safety. It protrudes enough that my skinny hand depresses it without any problems. The EZ fired all the rounds without any stoppages of any kind. I was using WWB 9MM RN practice ammo. I was shooting from a table rest, from 30 feet, off hand and the EZ seems to be hitting a little off center and to the left, but I will need to take sandbags out and use them before doing any sight adjustment. I really like the steel 8 round magazines as they have ears on the sides to aid in depressing the spring to load each round into the magazine. I found them to be great aids. I missed a couple shots on a 6" gong and a couple on the 8" gong. I also found I could pocket carry and draw the EZ, with ease, but I had no pocket holster and it printed. I must try a pocket holster. The pistol measures 7" long and 5" tall in the grip. When loaded it balances pretty good. The E Z has a good trigger. For the first outing I was well pleased. I will take it out again, soon after it dries a bit, and I have the time. Plan to run about 400 to 500 rounds to see if it is reliable enough to carry, and want to check the sights for accuracy.
  13. Moderna
  14. Morning after 2nd shot report is, nothing happening. Feel great with no side effects that I can tell of. Hoping this continues.
  15. Just ordered a Comp Tac Minitour IWB holster for the 9 MM E Z.
  16. Getting my second shot today at 1:00 , at the VA in Murfreesboro. My wife insist on driving me because some have had adverse reactions to the vaccine. Did not have any problems with the first shot. Hoping/praying for the same with the second.
  17. We went to Pigeon Forge for a anniversary get away. While there I went by one of the gun shops there while my wife shopped at a nearby store. They had a SW M P 9 MM E Z in stock with a 3.7 length brl. It followed me home. It is a bit thinner than my other MPs and holds 8+1. Got 2 magazines for it also. A few ounces lighter as well. I am not a fan of the 1911 style grip safety but that is the only way they come. this one also has the 1911 style safety on it also which I am not a fan of also. I will need to acquire a IWB holster for it so I can carry it after it proves to me it is a reliable pistol. I will say it is somewhat easier to rack the slide on, which is a big plus for old and arthritic hands. Will let you know how it drives after I kick the tires a couple or three times. I had to pay list price for the pistol 469.00. No deals with todays shortages of firearms. The store was about as empty as I have ever seen. Even long guns.
  18. Driving up I-40 through Crab Orchard today. Going to Pigeon forge for our 51st wedding anniversary with my Sweetie. Will think of you Darrrell, as we pass through. If you hear someone yelling, from I-40, it will be me! Have a good day guys.
  19. I lived through the blizzard of 1951 in Mt Sterling KY. We had 18" of snow with drifts of 36" of snow in some areas. We then got about 1" of sleet on top of the snow and as a small child I could walk on the snow without breaking through. I don't remember how long the snow stayed on the ground at that time. I have lived here in Mid TN since 68 and can't remember ever having this much snow at one time. My daughter got 7" in Eagleville TN, at her horse farm. Talked to her this afternoon and her ground is still completely white and says it is melting but still has a few inches. Most of ours will be gone by dark. I had to go help my daughter, at the farm yesterday, and stopped to get some Diesel Fuel and took a bad fall. I mean I ended up staring at the roof, in about 2 seconds off black ice. Two fine young men came and helped me to get up. I hoped I thanked them because it kinda stunned me. They had scraped the drive, but the ice was under the snow and the drive just looked wet, however it was a solid sheet of thin ice in a small circle. I happened to bust it dead center and paid the price. Pulled my hamstring in the back of my leg while trying to get up, but didn't break anything. I was very lucky because a 73 Y O has no business out and walking on ice. Am a bit sore today. I will try to do better the next time, L/w. All-n-all, its been a good snow and my sweetie and I have enjoyed looking at it through the window, for the most part.
  20. I have a Ruger PC in 40 caliber. Have had it for years. It is a hard shooting carbine and I have enjoyed it. I keep it for a house gun. It is very accurate at 50 yards, but opens up a bit at 100. For what it is made for, it is adequate. My carbine has 2 15 round mags and I purchased 2 extra.
  21. pop pop

    Fun game.

Any good brand revolver. Most probably the only handguns we will have left after Biden.
  22. I have always wanted a S W 8 shot 357 magnum with a 5" brl. Had a chance at one at the "The Reloader's Bench" in Mt Juliet, years ago, and balked at the 800.00 price tag. It had a red dot sight mounted on it. Regretted it ever since I passed it by. Would like to have a vintage Python, but can't justify the money.
  23. After last evenings snow we have 4" on the ground this morning. Our ####zu, Allie Kate," just went out and the snow is deeper than her legs. She got her necessary business done in record time. Didn't like dragging her belly in the snow. It is 29 right now.
  24. I have no back up heat. That bothers me. I have a back up propane stove for cooking and everything else I need. I have thought about purchasing some "big buddie" hunting heaters that will run off propane tanks. Hunters use them in their hunting blinds. I have 2 tanks for gas grills and 2 other larger tanks for our RV. All are full. Does any of you all have these type heaters and would they be sufficient to heat a room safely. They have 2 sizes so I thinking of the larger 2 burner type. What is your thoughts on these? I have natural gas to the back of my house, but just never had a meter put on it, and put it in our house. Actually have not had the need too. I have had a propane 500 gal tank years ago and that gas has gotten very expensive to heat with now. Would not want to go that route ever again. Give me some ideas what your guys are doing for back up heat. I heat with a heat pump now.
  25. Our road is solid Ice with snow on top. Cars, mostly farm boys with 4 wheel drive trucks, what few are moving, are moving at a snails pace. Thankful we don't need to get out. Having gut buster stew for lunch. A good soup day.
