SG Ammo had some 9MM practice WWB ammo, yesterday, for 100-79.00 dollars. Also had 556 green tip IMI for 20-17.00. Don't know if they still have it in stock.
  2. I have owned one Dog Taurus revolver, 25 years ago. Own 5 Revolvers now and have had good success with all 5. Will not purchase semi auto pistols from Taurus. Taurus revolver quality has gotten better. Like Raoul said, you can't make them S W's. Taurus will not have the resale as the Smith's.
  3. Had a prostate test yesterday and need some remedy. My urologists' proposed "Roto Rooter" or a new procedure where they use "Rezum Water Vapor Therapy." My swettie, a retired RN, wants me to have the vapor therapy. Says R R is brutal. Ah the rigors of getting old. I don't enjoy getting up 2 and 3 times per night plus going every 2 hours daily. Makes daily travel eventful and want to travel out West in June/July. Any of you old guys had any procedures done? What do you recommend? Listen up young bucks! Your day will come, L/w.
  4. The nature of deadly force, by the average Joe, is also changing. IMO, going to be harder to justify deadly force, in the future.
  5. IMO, "like it or not" the nature of Policing changed yesterday with the Chauvin verdict. In fact the nature of Self Defense/Deadly Force, as a whole, also changed. When "anyone" sets in motion deadly force, you had better have it right, because societies view of force changed along with that verdict. IMO, it will be harder to justify, in the future. We now have public outcry exerting great influencing over the judicial system and one had better be able to deal with it.
  6. Grandson (13) had it during spring break vacation in Snow Shoe Montana. The rest of his family did not get it. He was out of sorts for 2 days.
  7. I also use the Comp Tac Minitour at 4;00 position for my 2 MP's. Works well for this chubby guy with "the furniture disease."(Chest slid down into my drawers)

Does anyone know the difference in the Shield + and the SW MP 9 C 2.0? I have one and the newer 9 MM EZ. Like both, and they both fit my medium hands. I have never seen a Shield +.
  9. I have a Taurus 7 shot MDL 617 Revolver 2" SS I EDC. It is a K frame size. Have had it for years and pocket carry it in a modified Desaantsis Nemesis holster. . It is a great revolver.

    Choices

I find it harder and harder to chat with people about the blessings mankind finds in belief in the Christ. Seems few are interested anymore. Most important thing in life, IMO, is "To prepare for the next realm." because we are not destined to stay in this one. That is why we die. I am looking for Abrahams bosom, by putting my faith in Christ, when I enter into the next realm (life) we all will go too,(Luke 16:22). that will be "The realm of departed Spirits." That is if Christ does not come back to earth before my demise. If He does then we will all go to judgment. Believers into Abrahams Bosom,(Jewish term for a place of great comfort)(English term "Heaven"), non believers into torment.(English term "Hell"). "Choices," each and every one of us (CHOICES). Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me." (John 14:6) Believe it guys and gals. Edited to add; Make a good choice today. Easter Sunday
  12. I had bad experiences with water wells so I don't like them. The pumps may have improved, but in my experience, several years ago, ours was on the blink every storm the blew through it seemed. I had 2, one in the well and one on top of the ground from a cistern. Both were problematic. I have a drilled well at my house now and it has water within 15 FT from the top and it is 95 ft deep. I have never put a pump in it. Edited to add; My daughter just purchased a horse farm and she has 2 wells on it. One, at the house, can be pumped dry in 15 min. She is forced to do her activities over a period of time, It also has Sulfur in it. The other runs constantly and feeds the horses and horse barn and Trailer. It got cloudy during all the rain we just had, so that tells me it is stream fed. She purchases bottled water to drink and cook with. Both froze up this year so we have had to put heat bulbs in the well houses and keep them lit 24 hrs per day during the winter. Both have excellent well houses. Like I said I don't like dealing with wells at my age.
  13. I emptied my rain gauge at 9 last evening, 2 1/2", and again this morning 3". Bradley Creek, across the road was up, but not over the road. The 10 acre field, next to our home, was under water up to our front yard. So far no damage except several tree limbs down in our back yard. Headed to Church this morning to worship God and remember Jesus Christ and what He did for all mankind. Get-ye-some faith guys and gals! Nothing more important to mankind.
  14. Sorry. Don't do pictures.
  15. Yesterday afternoon a lone turkey hen showed up at my bird feeder. This morning 9 hens showed up. One of them is a white hen with a little feather etching in black. She was here last year, but all the other turkeys were fighting her and she was solid white. I'm guessing because she is off color with no cammo effect. Even the 3 resident deer does were chasing her in our woods. There was also a bearded hen with them last year. She is back also, and has a double beard, about 5" long, this year. Both her and the white turkey are much larger. The males are not here yet, but if they do as they did last year, the males will be following soon. I had 5 big toms and 5 jakes last year. Be interesting to see how many males they are this year. In years past we have had 2 large groups of hens, 30 in one group, and as many as 40 hens in the other one, with each group having different species of Toms shadowing them. One species was the blue heads and the other is a much larger red faced male. Last year we only had 15 hens and the males. I guess predator's have taken a large toll on their numbers in our area. Also a local farmer is not raising the same crops as he did in years past. I always have another neighbor come and hunt the males, and I suppose he will be calling me soon. I don't know exactly when turkey season opens, but after they show up I know it will be soon. Don't know if they will have the big turkey expo in Nashville this year as the canceled it last year because of Coved. I may go and attend one day of the 3 days event, if they have it this year. Cool and wet here this morning and I guess I will stay in today. We have had 1 and 3/4 " of rain in the last 24 hours. About 38 this morning .
  16. I am a little above average, on practice, (50 rounds per month) but have really curtailed my shooting because of the ammo availability, and cost issue, as I am sure a lot of us have had to do. On a retired budget it is hard to spend 800.00 to 900.00 per thousand for practice ammo for 9 MM. I will usually shoot one or the other now, MP 9C or 9 MM EZ to spread the wear time out. You could be right about the excess wear on the EZ because of the lighter spring. Just have to see how things shake out. Thanks for the response to my question Capbyrd. I have about 600 rounds through the 2 MP 9Cs, and only 70 rounds through the EZ at present. By the way I have 2 MP 9C 2.0 pistols because I always like a backup to the pistol I EDC. If this EZ works out may be getting another for backup. I do like the MP platform for, "somewhat", affordable pistols. Edited to add; I have the same concealed carry holsters for both the 9 C and E Z for familiarity purposes. Both feel good in my hand although I can tell the difference with the EZ because it is thinner and has the grip safety on it. Got to keep muscle memory as close as possible for both pistols. Just don't like to do a lot of change should I be FORCED to use either in an emergency situation. Does anyone know where I can get some snake shot for my 38/357 Revolver? I am in the process of cutting horse trails, in the woods, on my daughter's horse farm, and the snakes are out. My grandson seen a big Rattler last fall while bush-hogin. Need some medicine for them and Copperheads. I pocket carry my 357 and need the snake shot ammo.
  17. Capbyrd, what brings you to the conclusion they (MP 9MM EZ)will possibly not the workhorse other MPs and Shields are intended to be? I have 2 MP C 2.0 9MM pistols and the EZ is made pretty much the same. The biggest difference is the lighter spring to allow it to be racked easier.
  18. Saw a small snake crawling across the road in Rockvale TN yesterday at 10:00.
  19. Been using Turbo Tax and already got my Stimulus check on Monday. Paid my credit card off early, but I do that monthly anyways. Cost me 43.oo to purchase the System but my daughter uses it for all of us.
  20. I am 73 and my physical condition is sorely lacking due to age, weight, loss of strength caused by diabetic neuropathy, and several serious medical problems. All of you guys are headed in that direction, if you live to be a ripe old age, so that, for me, does not translate into giving up on trying, to the best of my fading ability, to protect myself, or my loved ones, should I be "forced" "FORCED" too. One thing the officer did have was mindset and will to finish the fight. He was put into the position of reacting to her pulling the pistol just like most private citizens will need to react too. Hard to start from behind the curve. Second guessing is immaterial really. It is what it is! De-escalation, the big catch all in Police work now, he tried, didn't work. Even the Chief brought that "word" out in his news interview. If private citizen does not attempt to do that, in todays social climate, and for sure if there is a ethnicity difference, it could possibly look bad on his actions, even though we do not have a "must try to retreat law" in TN. De-escalation is the catch all now! We all had better get accustomed to it. "What would a pier do if faced with the same situation as you were forced into." That is the standard all will face. If you can "get out of Dodge", you/we had better try to do it. "Try to de-escalate" think about it????
  21. Been going to my daughter's horse farm and started cutting trails through the woods. Great therapy for me. I am trying to look past politics mainly because it depresses me completely and I can do very little about it. Really should quit watching the news also. Sad watching that women's mother on TV about her daughter she lost and not knowing why. Glad they releases the body cam and dash cam evidence. Should stop needless rioting in "The Vill." Just can't shoot a cop and expect to walk away free guys. Really sad for her family, and officer, and prayers for them. Retired and lovinit. Turned 73 last week. Am a Christian, and have done the things, which is required, to put myself into a position to be able to receive God's saving grace, for myself. Can't do that for you guys so you need to find Christ and put yourself into a position to get some of God's grace for yourself. That grace only comes through belief and acceptance of Christ being the Son of God, and confession of God's Son Jesus Christ as your Savior. Then being baptized for your past sins. Read these examples for yourself in your Bible. (Acts 2:37-40). Then read (Acts 8:25-39) for an example of "an Ethiopian Receiving Christ as his savior. Then after this is accomplished, then living a faithful life until your day comes when you will go home to Christ and God who are in heaven after the final white thrown judgment we will all face. You do your part and God and Christ will do theirs. I am confident because I believe God's word revealed to us in the Holy Scriptures. Read that for yourself in your Bible. That what I mean when I said I have put myself into a position to receive God's saving grace, and thereby having faith I will see Them both (God and Jesus) in heaven when my day of final judgment has come. If you have questions I would like to discuss any of this with you, and we both can sit and see what the Scriptures say, or you can simply read your Bible. Nothing freaky about this guys. That good enough Hipower? Freaky Friday chat.
  22. I have had both shots of Moderna and my sweet wife had her second Thursday. Way to go. I am at high risk because of agent orange and have many risks. I had no ill effects and sweetie has had a little nausea yesterday, but can't say it was from the shot because she eat something she said was not really good, and that may be where her sick feeling came from," maybe". Other than that we have had no side effects. She is fine this morning. Praying for you and hope things go well for you. Listen to your doctors Hipower. They want the best for your health. You made a wise choice, IMO, for what it's worth.
  23. Possumslayer, never shot for serious grouping, just shooting steel gongs. I put the 20 rounds on a 8" gong at 15 yards, off hand, with 1 miss. The pistol is new and I have not set it up on sandbags nor rung it out. Just wanted to see if it would eat some blunt HP ammo. I will in the future. Only have 70 rounds through it just testing reliability. I am going to do some real testing for accuracy as soon as I get a chance because I want to carry it in the future. I do like the way it shoots and how easy it is to rack the slide. I do have a MP 9C 2.0 that I have been carrying for over a year so the platform is not new to me. This pistol operates the same as the 2.0, but the 2.0 9C is harder to rack the slide on. I have been having problems with loss of strength, from diabetic neuropathy in my hands and arms, and Arthritis pain this winter.
  24. Just took the MP EZ 9 out and ran 20 rounds of Federal 147 gr Hydra Shock JHP through it. It fired them all with no problems. The price on the box was $20.00 for 50. OH, the days of yester year. Those 20 rounds would be 40. + today. So far the EZ is eating everything. It is a fun pistol to shoot and carries quiet nicely in a Comp Tac Minatour IWB holster. Been wearing it around the house and while doing yard work. Need to run several mor through it to make sure it is reliable. Plan to carry Rem Golden Saber 127 gr bonded in it.
  25. I purchased a Savage 7MM 08 a few months back and decided to take it out and sight in the Weaver 3X9 scope in for deer hunting last fall. I also purchased a Savage 308 with the same scope on it and let my Son In law have it for my youngest grandson to deer hunt with. I sighted the 308 in and it is truly a very nice rifle and scope combination. Grandson shot a doe with it last fall in the youth hunt week. My SIL said they shot her at dark and the scope illuminated the target great in very low light conditions. He was totally impressed with the Savage Axis 1. This model does not have the best savage trigger, but it is adequate, actually quiet good trigger on it. I went on to sight the 7MM 08 and I loaded it and as I closed the bolt I noticed it was very hard to close. Got the rifle set in the Caldwell Led Sled then pulled the trigger. Nothing but the trigger click. Went to eject the shell, Winchester 140 gr Power Point, and could not get the spent casing to eject. Had to take a hammer and drive the brass casing out. Looked down the brl and it was blocked. Didn't try to fire it again however I tried to load another round and same thing, couldn't close the bolt freely so I didn't force it. I just got it back from the Gun Smith yesterday and it was a squib load. He could tell by the burn on the end of the bullet. I knew about those type loads, but never had one before. Consequently because it was so hard to force the bolt closed, on the first round, I wondered if something was wrong with the chamber in the rifle, so it took it to the Smith to be on the safe side. Turns out it was just a squib load(round loaded with no powder inside and primer fired leaving the bullet in the brl). It cost me some "Lollie," however I am now sure there is nothing wrong with the rifle. Actually he fired another round through the rifle as I had taken the box of ammo with me that the initial round came from. I had ear protection on and couldn't hear the primer fire. If that ever happens to you don not force another shot because it could possibly blow the rifle up in your face. Glad all is well with my Savage Axis. Have plans to sight it in soon. Edited for spelling. BAD spell check!
