The 38/357 is the best all around revolver IMO. I carry a 7 shoot every day. It is loaded with Cor Bon DPX in 357 Magnum.

We are beginning to get ready for our upcoming RV trip, with family, to the Grand Canyon/ Zion Nat Park, and surrounding area. Two of our daughters, and their families, will be going with us. One is driving out with us in their RV and the other is flying into Las Vegas and renting a car then driving to meet us in Grand Canyon Village at the Campground. Be 11 of us total. This will be a large trip as our family will be with us for 16 days, then leaving us out there. We, L/w will be going on from there, if we feel like it. Will probably try to leave St George UT, go to Salt Lake City then on across Idaho, and then onward across Oregon to the coast around Eugene and Coase Bay. Will then go to Northern Calif, Crescent City, to see the Redwood Nat Park. Then begin plotting our return trip to Middle TN. We have 5 or 6 weeks to make the trip. being advised the Parks are crowded this year as everyone seems to be shedding the Virus blues out of doors. A trip of a lifetime for me. Hope to stop and smell the roses along the way. We should be leaving on the 26th of June. This trip will most likely be our last big one as my age is creeping up on me.

Where can one purchase snake guards/leggings. I see hunters wearing them on TV. The kind you wrap around the calf of one's legs. About 18" tall. Does anyone know? I have checked at Bass Pro with no luck.

I killed a snake, yesterday, 4' long, in my back yard, about the size of my thumb or a little bigger. Don't know what kind it was but it was predominantly black, small head, with yellowish spots/markings on it. Anyone know what it was? Hate any snakes.

Liability Insurance and Concealed Carry
pop pop replied to Skyhunter's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
None of these companies' plans are perfect. Biggest thing with Armed Citizens Defense Net, which I now am a member of, is they reserve the right to review your case to make sure your situation is a true self defense case. Meaning you can not plan to go murder someone, call them up beforehand and join, all the while planning to go commit that murder, then have them fund your defense. ACLDN is not a insurance program. It is a network of like minded individuals. Another is they will spend up to half their war chest of funds, which I think is about 1 .4 million now, on your case so there is a limit to their coverage. To me that amount (700,000.00) should/would fund an adequate defense, where I live, but my case must be actual self defense. One of the other major players (insurance companies) did pull the plug on a defense case, and is being sued now over what they did. So like I said, they are not perfect. All the companies require that you did not start the confrontation/fight. I will say, If I did not belong to Armed Citizens Defense Net, I would consider the CCW Safe program as a second choice although their fee is much more costly than ACLDN. To each his own. DHF posted a link to the Worriorpoetsociety, all who are interested in insurance, should watch the interview with Andrew Bracca. It is quiet informative and spot on. -
Liability Insurance and Concealed Carry
pop pop replied to Skyhunter's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I belong to the Armed Citizens Legal Defense Network. Much, much, cheaper that others and about the same benefits. Check them out 360-978-5200 and get a person to talk too. They are on the west coast time. I think I pay 89.00 per year but it is a little higher the first year Maybe 125 per year. -
Never heard it put that way before MacGyver, but your probably correct one could find his pathway to perdition there if he had a mind too. Come to think of it, one could do that just about anywhere.

There is a New York Pizza place on, the strip, and we try to eat there every time we visit. Best pizza I have ever eat. One piece will fill you up. My daughter lives in Ponta Vedra, just up the coast from St Aug.

I carry a 7 shot revolver. Trust it is enough. If going to a gun fight, I would take a shotgun or rifle. Seven shooter is for forced emergencies only.

My daughter purchased a new John Deer 0 turn a month ago. It was a commercial grade 60' cut. Major bucks.

My yard has more white clover, this year, than it ever has. Guess from all the rain?????

Went to Franklin Gun Shop today and purchased 10 rounds of CCI 38/357 Snake Shot with # 4 shot. It cost 19.99 which I thought a little high but livable. Went on line and what I found, was 10 rounds of the same, but was 79.00 + shipping. Too rich for my blood.

Hernando Desoto Bridge closed I-40 Memphis
pop pop replied to TennesseeCamper's topic in General Chat
Going that way next month. Will use I 55 bridge I suppose. Going out 40 to the Grand Canyon. Usually drive from Murfreesboro to Little Rock for the first lag of our trip. HDB will not be opened for this trip. Be pulling a 35' RV. -
Sure it will do the job you intend for it to do. My hands and wrist are too old to handle the pistol grip any longer. Can do it, but it hurts later. Can not beat a good pump with extended mag for home defense if you are not in an apartment building. Will penetrate most walls. I load mine with OO buck and Slugs. Edited to add; IMO, leave the bird shot for the birds.

Thanks gregintenn. Will do

Got the chance to go and shoot some this afternoon. Took my S W Mdl 317 8 shot 22 Revolver and my M P 9MM Ez out. Shot the revolver double action only and of course the EZ only fires with the trigger pull. I wanted to run some more rounds through the EZ (400 now) to make sure it is reliable. Will put another 100 or so, but it has fired everything so far. Arthritis has caused my index finger, dominant hand, to roll over slightly and after a 100 some odd rounds started wearing a blister on my first joint so I quit. Never experienced this before. Other than that had a good outing. Growing older is not for sissies.

Yes ReeferMac. A Dakota Alert DCPT-4000. My wife really likes the system as she is home by herself sometimes and likes to know if someone enters. This thing has not failed. Catches people coming and leaving. Highly recommend it for someone living a distance off road.

Been several months since we installed our driveway alarm. Turns out we really like it. Took a while to get accustomed to the chime, but it has turned out to be a real asset. Our dog has even learned to go look out when it goes off. The chime is loud enough to wake us up at night. It goes off every time someone comes into the drive. I located the magnetic sensor in the middle of the driveway and the wireless transmitter in a tree beside the drive. Painted the transmitter box grey to match the tree trunks. There are trees and a fence keeps people on the drive until they get past it. After an uninvited guest, that was ransacking unlocked vehicles in driveways around here, just 2 nights before Christmas this year, we got the alarm. It just went off and the Mail Man just brought a package, and put it in our package box up close to our house. Our drive is 325' long. The magnetic sensor is about 35' up the drive. By the way I think we caught a Porch Pirate, a couple months ago, as he entered just after the Fed X dropped a package of medicine on our front porch then exited the drive. I went out and he was startled, then he stammered around and asked who lived here, which was a ruse, IMO. We have never had that to happen in 35 years that we lived here. There are advantages and disadvantages, but we are well satisfied with our alarm. Cost me 245.00 from Amazon.

Won't take a chance on luck at 1500 +. Don't want one that bad.

What do these carbines usually sell for. I like the M-1.

I thought the Wal Marts in Murfreesboro quit selling ammo.

I have the Mossberg 500 in 12 Ga, and it is a very nice shotgun, for an affordable shotgun. Had the 500 in 20 Ga 18 1/2" brl also, but purchased a 24" brl and a set of screw in chokes, new from Mossberg, and gave it to my 12 Y O grandson as he is a hunter now, and he and his dad go all the time in S Carolina. I have checked out the Mavericks and like it fine, and see nothing wrong with them. Could have purchased the Maverick for $199.00 and went ahead and paid $325. for the 20 Ga instead. IMO, Mossberg is a little better quality. Both are adequate shotguns and will do the job needed. This is just like purchasing a Taurus(Maverick) or Smith Wesson(Mossberg) revolver. Can't make the Taurus a Smith. Can really see the difference when it comes time to sell either of them. My father always said, "It cost a little more, at the time, but will pay dividends later," both in pride of ownership and value down the road, so I had the extra money and decided to take Pappy's advice. Have never been disappointed in his advice. However to answer the question, the Maverick will do what it supposed to do and most likely just as good as the more expensive one. Choices! "My" preference, I bought the Mossey. Happy, Happy, Happy and 10 years later don't even miss the $125.00 dollars difference I shelled out initially. Edited to add; Protongunner, ask yourself this question, if a Mossy 500 and a Maverick were both sitting on a shelf, and both were priced 200.00 dollars each, which one would you walk off with? Good question!

Auto Manufacturers pushing synthetic oil? (I’m a bit long winded today)
pop pop replied to Randall53's topic in General Chat
I have a 2002 Trail blazer we purchased for my daughter 10 years ago. She let me have it back when she got anew 4 runner and it has only had synthetic blend oil in it for 234000. Does not use a drop of oil in an in line 6 cylinder. Good stuff, but I will also say we have much cleaner burning gas today. I do hate the alcohol!!!!
