  1. Worked 30 years at Post Office. First 4 years a City Carrier then moved into the office as a clerk. Still have one daughter that works in the Church Street Post Office in Murfreesboro. Post Office has gone down since my time. Retired in 2004.
  2. Did BIL name him?
  3. Hope you toured downtown for at least 3 runs with the hog strapped to your 4 wheeler. Nice!
  4. Thanks guys. Going to be doing the transaction at an FFL in Charleston SC. Carolina Arms.
  5. Prayer for you bigun.
  6. Do you need to take a gun to a licensed FFL and have a background check done on the person (son in law) you are giving the gun too, if he lives in another state? I live in TN, he lives in South Carolina. We did this and the people in the gun store told us we didn't need too and all I needed to do is give him a signed paper telling I am giving the gun to him, sign and date it with the gun serial number. Told us we were wasting our money. Would like your input.
  7. My family is here for Thanksgiving and my grandson (13) and granddaughter (11) wanted to get my squirrel rifle out for some target practice. We took the Marlin/w Leupold scope out, and went to the back yard range. They started shooting at hanging steel then graduated to hedge apples. They liked to see them explode after hitting them. I am shocked how good they can shoot. Their mother is a natural shot and they take after her. We were shooting the apples and steel from about 50 ft. Their mother backed away to 75' and busted 3 apples out of 3 off-hand. She has always been a crack shot with any gun. She has asked for my Henry Big Boy 38/357 lever gun when I am through with it. Told her she could have it, but not right now. It is hers and my favorite long gun. I ain't through with it yet. We plan to get the bigger stuff out Friday. They can shoot up a wad of ammo if I allow them. We shot a 3rd of a box of 555 22LR this morning. Gave the neighbors something to think about. We waited until 10:30 to begin, out of respect. Their gone horseback riding now. OH, rest for the weary. We are blessed to have them all week. Love it. Going to give my Father's Remington Mdl 11 48 16 Ga semi auto shotgun, along with a new in the box Remington 1911 A1, when we go down to visit them in February L/w. I think Parker will treasure his great grandfather's old shotgun. I will say he is showing some hormones this season. Puberty, do you guys remember? Kinda a rough time for young men, best I recollect. Their both good kids. Just fun memories, guys.

    Flue Shot

Because of all the flue talk, in our area, I went and took a flue shot this morning. I don't want to be sick during the holidays if I can prevent it. I seem to get everything I get close to and we got a lot of family coming in for the holidays. Three of my extended family have colds, at present, so I decide to err on the safe side if possible.
  9. I have 2 MP9C 2.0s and a MP 9mm EZ. All of them has the flat triggers and are good enough for me. Just purchased a Glock Mdl 19 9MM Gen 5. Haven't shot it yet. To me, not a lot of difference in all the plastic guns. I carry one IWB all winter. Old hands are not partial to the 10 MM and 44 and 357 Magnums any longer. YMMV, and that is OK with me.
  10. My grandson purchased an electric car. Cost him every time he charged it. Would only run 1 trip to his work and not enough juice to get him all the way thee the following day. He sold it. Got tired of constantly charging it. Tried to get a fast charge hookup at his house, and found out it coast a fortune to do that. He lives in Florida.
  11. I make it my practice to never purchase new model guns. Wait until they have been on the market for at least a year and their warts show up. After the recall then purchase.
  12. FUJIMO, is correct, juries of your peers, are hard to come by when guns are involved. I went for jury duty 4 years ago. You should see the people they pick for trials juries. The Media has vilified guns, and people (anybody) who own or carry them, to the fullest extent they are able to sway public opinion. Just watch the news, every gun crime they can report, nightly! The trials, like this one, at least every chance they get. Look at Zimmerman. The Media made him the most hated man in America and he did not help himself by all the things he did afterwards. The Media reposted every time he blew his nose in public. This kind of stuff can tear families apart. If one is "Forced" into a S D confrontation, one risk his future, and that of his entire family, for the rest of their lives. One may not agree, and that is OK with me, but I calls them the way I sees them, in my thinker. Doubtful you will have a jury of your peers. You will be lucky to get one gun owner on your jury. The pre jury questionnaire will exclude them and you, if one is truthful, from serving on any criminal proceedings trial. The lawyers don't want fair minded man/women on most criminal juries, IMO. Peers, not going to happen! Edited to add; That lawyer should have been scolded for pointing that AR toward the Jury, if that is what he did? Yes, and I seen the finger on the trigger myself.
  13. This kid has done a lot to hurt himself prior to this incident. Hopefully the jury has not been privy to all the photos and his posing with the AR rifle. Like posting a sign on your house stating "This house protected by a 38 Spl, or, we don't call the police here." When you do stupid stuff like this one is asking for trouble down the road if their ever forced into a Self Defense situation. No bumper stickers either. And above all, don't go looking for trouble. Just MH Opinion. This kid has messed up his life.
  14. I have always wanted an 8 shot SW with a 5" brl. Might be a tad large for EDC.
  15. My intended use for this ammo is for self defense rounds. SG Ammo has a package of 200 rounds for 289.00 which is high, but I don't have a lot of S D ammo on hand for 9 MM. I am torn on whether to pay high prices or will ammo come back down later on. The basic difference in these two is bullet weight 124 gr and 147 gr, one is + p, and another is a bonded bullet. Winchester PDX 1 is good ammo. Edited to add; This is $1.45 per round with free shipping. PLUM HIGH, IMO, but will not break the bank for a 1 time purchase. Many of the pros seem to be going for the 147 +P rounds in 9 MM for Self Defense rounds. Just wanted your opinions.
  16. Which is better ammo, Winchester PDX 1 147 gr + P H P 9 MM , or Winchester PDX 1 124 Gr Bonded HP 9 MM?

    legal or no?

I had to give my grandson's guns to his father as he was in another state and under age. Did the transfer, and background check, at a local gun store in Charleston S C. Only way to be legal. I am giving my guns to my grandchildren before I pass on to the next life with Jesus. Three of them are in other states.
  19. Well, I treated myself and purchased that Gen 5 Mdl 19 Glock today. Couldn't resist. Price was right. Going to need to get some rounds through it. Had to pay 460.00 + sales tax and 10.00 nix check fee. Had to show Barret Firearms my DD 214 to get that price on Veterans Day. Glocks are ugly, but everyone I have owned have been reliable. Hope this one does not have the "throw BIF" problem my Gen 3 has. Let you know when I can get out to the range, however it will be a few days. Got other fish to fry right now.
  20. A am a 357 guy and my EDC is a 7 shot Taurus snubbie. A 4" would be even better. Would like to have a 8 shot 357 Smith 5", but too stingy to put out the Lolli! I am not a 1911 fan.
  21. I too have the same support system you have. It's the best! I had a good October and will pray you have a better November papa61. God be with(bless) you and yours. We all have down times, and are in need of support, from time to time. May your bio-rhythm be on an upward swing in Nov.
  22. Many believe the Goock Mdl 19 Gen 5 is the best pistol ever off the shelf. Me, I am with SW MP 9 C fans for my plastic pistols. Looked at a gen 5 mdl 19, at Barret's in Murfreesboro, a couple days ago, for 469.00 + tax. Have a gen 3 that spits hot brass back into my face/neck every now and then. I guess I should send it back to Glock and have the ejector repaired. Carry the M P 9 C insted. Seems everyone likes to hate on Glocks.
  23. I am 73, immune compromised, have agent orange poisoning from year in Nam(Danang), heart disease (bypass), and diabetes, and may I say am truly lucky to be alive. I took the booster and will take a flue shot next month. Don't have a problem with it nor the ones who don't want to take shots. After all this is America. Kinda like religion, I got that too, but that is one's choice also. For me, Jesus the Christ takes good care of my dying part for me. I have a blessed life. Hope you guys feel the same way too. IMHO, religion is the most important part of my life. YMMV!
  24. Went to VA and took my booster shot today. Been 8 months since my last one. My wife took hers also. I think we are going to quit wearing the mask unless compelled too. What about you guys?
  25. My 17 YO grandson has a mullet.
