  1. I purchased the LCP Max a few months back. Carrying the pistol in a Nemesis pocket holster, strong side. Have 450 rounds of practice and S D ammo through it with no failures. Really like it but will not carry the pistol without the trigger covered in a holster. Using Hornady Critical Duty 147 Gr HP +P ammo. Accurate and hard hitting. Really dings steel targets much harder than practice ammo. Hardest hitting 9 MM ammo I have ever used. I have had no safety issues with the Max 9 at all. Carry it often.
  2. Like my Henry 38 Spl/357 Mag W-hex brl.
  3. I try to get on at least daily, and sometimes more. Yes, good place to hang out.
  4. Middle TN Electric put out a message saying Rutherford County "may" have rolling black outs this Saturday. Duration will be 15 minutes. I hope not. I am not turning on Christmas lights and have downed my thermostat 2 degrees. Keeping all unnecessary lights turned off. How are the "Tree Huggers" thinking they are going to put millions of electric cars on the road and keep them charged? What A Joke they are playing/putting on us. TVA can't even weather a 4-day storm right now. We just went through our first rolling block out while I was typing this. Lasted 20 minutes. I guess this is going to be the norm from now on. Sorry Sorry Sorry Edited to add; Temperature dropped 1 degree, on my thermostat, during the electric cut off.

  6. My daughter has a horse farm. I went out, at 9:00 A M with grandson, to help her get ready for the cold. Already put 2 heat lamps in her well house the day before. She has water this morning, so we were good in not freezing. Started our day by going to Kroger, Franklin Road Murfreesboro, yesterday morning and had to wait in line to check out for 20 minutes. Lines were backed up 15 deep at every checkout and the self-check outs had 25 to 30 people at both S-C-Os. Daughter didn't have time to go get her food. Got on her John Deer and put some rock in her feeding areas, has 12 horses, to elevate a mud problem. She then wanted to put out another round bail of hay so I drove to Co Op at Eagleville, and they did not have a hay cradle so put the round bale on a flat rock. She wanted and extra bail out because her tractor will be extremely hard to start at 0. Finished that so then she wanted me to drive to the "Boro" Pet Smart and purchase dog and cat food, and another 48" dog crate, and a large Igloo doghouse for a new Black Lab she got recently. Did this and then did her night feeding on pasture horses while she drove to Barney's Barnyard in college Grove to purchase horse feed for the cold spell. I got home at 7:00 P M and was totally exhausted. Had to ice down my back and neck because of lifting heavy stuff all day long. Did get some good rest last night and got up to o at 6:00 this morning. Have a plan on staying in for the duration of cold weather until Sunday church. Still will be cold but God comes first in our life. Will gladly get out to go worship Him come Sunday. Very long hard day for us yesterday. Wife was out helping also. Long day for a 74 Y O, but what are good fathers for?
  7. I still have a soft spot for the 30 06. Gave my last one, a Weatherby Vanguard 1, to a grandson for a Christmas present several years back. He will not use it and uses his dad's 270 because he says the Weatherby is too pretty to scratch up. It was like new when I gave it to him. He likes Remington Cor-lokts ammo also. I gave him 100 rounds of 165Gr C-L for his 06.
  8. My son-in-law sent me movies, this week, of my 14 Y O grandson using my shotguns I gave him, while shooting a duck and squirrel. He had 2 of his friends with him. Used a Mosberg 20 Ga pump for the duck, and my old 67 Y O 410 my dad purchased for me for my 8th birthday. I am 74 now. My grandson and dad are in Mt Pleasant, S Carolina. They have either been fishing or hunting every day this week while out of school for the Christmas Holiday. The boys will remember these hunts for their lifetime. I applaud my SIL for spending time with his kids.
  9. I like Smith Wesson MP's, and Ruger for mid range pistols cost wise, and Colt and Kahr for mid to higher end. Don't have any experience with other brands. I know they are probably some other brands that are good. At heart I am a revolver guy at heart, but they are limited on round count. The one I carry now is a 7 shooter K frame snubbie. It is confusing settling on a new pistol. My advice try one out and shoot one before you purchase, if possible. That is how I fell for the MP 9C 2.0 with a 4" brl and 15 rounds on board. The SW Shield line is a good choice also. It must be concealed carried OWB or IWB as it is too large for pocket carry. It cost a tad more for these brands but you only pay for a pistol once and if you take care of them they will last you for years/life-time. My policy was to spend that extra 100.00 and purchase some thing yo can be proud of and if you sell it you can recoup your money invested. Edited to add; A good condition Ruger or Smith Wesson or Colt will sell for more than I paid for them when I purchased them years back.

    .40 Cal

I like 40 and have a Glock 23 and Kahr PM 40. I had a Sig 229 and gave it to my grandson several years ago. IMO, it is a good round for 4" brl and up. Not a good round for smallish pistols. My all steel Kahr PM 40 is a handful. The older my hands get the harder it is to shoot. One reason why I don't carry it any longer. I am into 357/Cor Bon DPX and 9 MM 147 Gr Winchester Defender + P for concealed carry.
  11. How much spare ammo do you guys carry if any. My carry is a 7 shot revolver, pocket carried, and a speed strip with 8 extra rounds in a back pocket. If I carry pistols, 12 shot or 15, I carry an extra magazine of ammo in my back pocket as well. Just interested if you guys carry extra ammo. A lot of trainers, and (Quote) "lots of professionals" say one will most likely not need a reload in a gunfight. I like to be prepared so I do carry extra ammo.
  12. Great Rifle. Enjoy it.
  13. Mills, the pistol should have been on the person, and not in a bag. Just like you don't leave them in your car when not there. Simple guys! Don't want your roscoe handled by someone else, or stolen, keep it on you. So many guns are stolen out of cars, I wouldn't be surprised if the Gov will start charging people, in the future, for leaving them unattended and vulnerable to be stolen. I have both, but preferer hammer.
  14. Had a 1957 Chevy convertible with the factory 283, 4 barrel. When I went into the military, I sold it for 300.00 cash in 1966. What a jerk! Seen a turquoise one sell, which was the color of mine with a white rag top, on the Motor Channel Auction for 115,000.00 a few weeks back.
  15. I have a 2012 GMC Acadia. My wife had a rear-ender while taking me to the Emergency Room, on the 21s of Nov, while I was experiencing heart/chest pain. After getting to the E R I had blockage and 4 Stents put in my veins around my heart. I have been battling the insurance company because they want to salvage it. The SUV has 80,000 miles and was in pristine mechanical, and the body was in great condition. Just put new 20" tires, struts, brakes, and a new battery on it. The Insurance C said TN has a law that if it cost 75% of the book value of the car, they can't fix it. I argued my car was worth more than the average 10 year old car, because of it's excellent condition and low milage, and they should make allowances for the condition. They wouldn't. Finally they relented and they are repairing my Car. Turned out the car was about 700.00 under the 75% rule and they were trying to shuck me. Shes, insurance! My wife loves the car, and so do I. It is her car as I have a Chevy Pickup and another Chevy Trail Blazer. We have owned it for 2 years and it had 70,000 when we purchased it from our neighbor. Eddited to add; I would have regretted selling the Acadia. That car sells in the 40,000. range now. Be hard for a 74 Y O retired guy to pay for now.
  16. Will check out Federal Hydra-Shok Deep for sure. Thanks for heads up. This is a new one for me.
  17. Carried my Max 9 to church yesterday, the first day I have been back to church since my 4 stents were put in my veins around my heart on November 21st. Also, adult RSV is getting better. Had that since 21st also and still coughing. Really like how the Ruger carries in my pocket holster. Have ran a few more rounds through it, but the days of running 500 to 1000 rounds through one to break it in is over for now. Not a cheap thing to do any longer. Still I guess I have about 475 rounds of practice and S D ammo through the Max 9 and it has been flawless. It is a good pistol, and I can say I really like it.
  18. I just purchased a metal RV cover from the outlet in Lavergne, Old Hickory Steel. They said I could pay up front or in installments. I chose installments. Had to pay 1600.00 down to make the order. When the company in Murfreesboro called had to caught up another 4200. Refused to pay it all. They called last week and installed the building 24' wide by 36' long. Had to caught up the remaining on completion day. I "Never" pay for anything in advance. Down Payment is OK to let them know your serious. I even felt uneasy paying my second payment, but was forced too. All went well with my purchase. Sorry you lost your money. Hard pill to swallow.

RSV better today. Still little hacking. Bersaguy, we are all here by God's Grace. God has been good to me, much better than I deserve. Have you guys ever wished you had more money to help really needy people you come in contact with? We have more than enough to take care of us in our retirement, but I got an unexpected windfall not too long ago. Not a large sum, but a good amount for me. I have determined I have need to use it very, very wisely. I feel it may be a test. I hope to give it all away to the needy over time. God has blessed me in my old age. Mind you I am not telling you this to be bragging here!!!! Just a feeling I got when receiving a large, totally unexpected check, in the mail a few months back. Thanks for your stories and witnessing guys. It is encouraging to me. To God be the glory.

So glad you guys have made peace with God. His Son is my hope and I feel totally at peace. My wish is for all to find Christ before it is too late. Thanks for the replies. Start my Cardiac Rehab on the 14. Walking on treadmill every day now. I also am getting over RSV.
  21. I have had the Max 9 for a while now. Have run about 400 practice rounds through it (Win W B 115 gr RN) and 60 rounds of Winchester Defender 147 Gr + P Hp through it. I have plans of carrying this round for S D. It has been flawless. I allowed my grandson and son in law fire about 75 rounds through it at Thanksgiving. Have had no issues with it. It is very accurate and shoots to sights at 25 ft off hand. I really like the iron sight green pipe front sight. Easy to see for old eyes during the day. I have been pocket carrying it to church and around in dress clothes. It is flat and the 2 different mag sizes adjust well to different front pocket sizes. One magazine holds 10 and the other 12 rounds. Tighter pockets gets the 10 rounder and larger the other. I am using a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster, and it works well. I like the Ruger Max 9 and believe it will become my preferred church gun. Do like the 13 rounds on board. Does not hurt that I shoot it well. For IWB I have a SW MP 9C 2.0 9 MM for a larger choice. Also using the Winchester 147 Gr + P ammo in it for S D. The max 9 works well with the MP setup. I like Ruger firearms. Edited to add; The Winchester 147 gr hits my steel targets hard. Really pings them better than any S D Ammo I have on hand. Hard hitting round.

Woke up with some discomfort and tightness in my chest Sunday morning. Went to E R at St Thomas West, in Nashville, Sunday afternoon. Monday afternoon I had to have 4 additional stents put in my veins around my heart. Now have had double bypass, with 9 stents. Feel lucky to be her on this Thanksgiving Day. Am having a great day although kinda sore. I am now 74, and want to tell you that one better have made spiritual provisions for your death, and most of all where your soul will spend eternity. My soul will be with my savior Christ Jesus in the next realm(realm of departed spirits(Paradise) if Christ don't come first. Search and find out where your souls will go before it is too late. When you get to the next realm it will be too late to change your fate. I have done the things necessary for me to be able to take advantage of God's saving Grace which He freely will give to all who follow His Son Jesus. This is serious guys. I would be glad to help you if you can get in touch with me in Lascassas TN.
  23. We just finished remodeling our kitchen. Purchased a 24X36 metal building to put our RV and trucks under to get them out of the weather. When all that is up and paid for I intend to get after weatherproofing our house. I need to put more insulation in the attic, weather strip 5 entry doors, and caulked around windows. Also plan to get an energy evaluation done by the Mid TN Electric company. Got to tighten up around "Reed Manor." I have faith that the cost will be recouped in time.
  24. I have 3200 Sq Ft all on one level. Just me and wife and our bill has run from 170.00 to 420,00 being the highest last winter. Up until last winter the highest was 360.00. Keep it 73 day and 72 night. Wife is cold at that. I would guess average for 12 months would be 220.00. Your bill sounds awful high to me. Have the meter checked. Have an energy test run. just might save you some lollie.
  25. No plans for a red dot. Not a fan
