    New Tool/Toy

Just took it to the range and fired it. It shoots really fine. Nice trigger and accurate although I didn't put it to paper. Just fired at steel. Think I am going to like it. Too hot to do much outside for now. Edited to add; Well worth the 269.00 I paid for it new.

    New Tool/Toy

Outpost Armory sent me an add and they had 3 22lr semi auto pistols on sale for the holiday. I purchased the Taurus TX Competitor for 190.00 off regular price of 459.00. I figured any time one can purchase a handgun new, for about half the price, it might be good. The other brand pistols were Sigs in 22LR, I think. One with an safety and one without. The Taurus is drilled and It has a plate on the top for a red dot sight to be added. Also has 3 dot sight on it. The trigger seems to be good because I snapped it a couple times. Don't favor snapping 22s without ammo in them. I like 22 LR practice because the bigger ones is so expensive to shoot like I once did. I have a Sig Mosquito that has been flawless, and a SW 317 8 shot ultralight 22 Revolver that I have put 1000's of round through both. The Taurus should be a good addition as my 22s are getting most rounds put through them on a regular basis. They also had a Federal 22 Lr ammo on sale for 555 rounds for 29.95. My S-I-Law wanted 2 boxes and grandson wanted 2 also. I purchased 8 boxes, which I kept for me. Haven't had the time to get it outside because my range is wet. Will try it soon, I hope. Rain forecasted for every day this coming week.
  3. I am still seeing only one or 2 H-birds at my feeders.

    Weapon Light

Had a friend try a mounted light, a few years back, and it caused his pistol to have failures to cycle. Don't think the newer lights have that problem as they are much lighter. His was a Glock mdl 17, if memory serves me. I never tried one.
  5. Supreme Court ruled you can't shoot someone for stealing mere stuff, period!
  6. My new 686 7 shot has a 3" brl on it. I like the 3" barrels. I pocket carry and the one I have is just a little too large to pocket carry in my carpenter jeans. I purchased this revolver for a nightstand tool and the 3" works fine for that. Keep it stocked with Cor Bon DPX in 357.
  7. Lots of lollie in steel. Don't have near as much as you do on my range. Nice setup Loid.
  8. Guy told me to use a little Dawn dishwashing detergent in my sprayer as a surfactant.

    My first 5.7

Nice looking pistol, but I don't want to start a new caliber and am sticking with 38/357, 9 MM and 40 MM for now. I have purposefully stayed away from the 30 and 5.7 calibers. Hope you enjoy your new tool. good luck with the ammo thing.
  10. Friend told me today it cost 250.00 to renew tags in TN now. That is how they are recouping the gas tax money. There is also a fire danger to the batteries. I see them on the side of the road "some times" while traveling in our RV. Also see older cars also, but not newer ones. Me, not interested in an EV.
  11. Had our asphalt parking lot sealed, at our church, and they used sand mixed in for that non slip purpose. Don't know if it would work for yours, Lucky.
  12. Thanks for the responses, guys. I could never get a straight answer on how much it cost to charge the EVs, although there are a bunch of variables connected with electric cars. I got into a solar water heater and it never paid for itself before the thing went south. When it went south no one would work on it and one could not get parts for them. Had I not received a big tax credit, when I purchased it in the 80's, I would have lost big money on it. I figure the EVs will cost more money than Gas or diesel powered machines let alone the hinderance of having to charge them very often. I have a grandson who purchased an EV, but he did not keep it long. My daughter said it needed charging every time he wanted to go somewhere out of his routine and he didn't have enough juice to get where he was going. All a big boon-doggle, IMO. Doubt I will ever purchase one unless forced too.
  13. Does anyone here know what it cost to recharge a totally electric car at a charging station?
  14. I have only one male bird this year so far. Woodpeckers are emptying my feeders.
  15. Praying for Sarah remission.
  16. Only statement to make is, "He attacked me, there is his Knife/Gun/Weapon, he/she is a witness, Sir I will file a complaint against this man for attacking me, I was in fear of losing my life so I fired out of self-defense, Say to Police officer, Sir you know how serious this situation is so "I need exercise my 5th amendment right and I need an attorney". Say NOTHING else about the case, period. Expect to be detained and hopefully you have some type of "Self-defense insurance", because you are going to need it really bad. My wife and I are members of the Armed Citizens Legal Defense Network, (360-878-1975). Call them and they will talk to you. "Very Reasonable cost." I don't work for them but do have "some" peace of mind should I be forced into a bad situation. Pray I will never need their services. I consider this cost the same as homeowners or health insurance. My advice, "If you carry a gun, you need it."
  17. I once carried extra firearms insurance but quit several years ago. I am 75 and never lost a firearm. I also have a Cannon Big Boy Gun Safe bolted to the floor, and good locks and security doors on our home. I had a policy with NRA Lockton policy for years. Nothing wrong with this insurance. Never had ammo insurance and not sure one can purchase that type of coverage. Now a substantial supply of ammo is almost worth more than the guns. I will say I am not a collector of real valuable guns, but mine are to me and I can understand one's concerns. Hope you never have any loss. Edited to add; Had a friend who asked me about this type of insurance. I went over to his house and he had doors on the house that one could blow hard on and get in. I told him he would be better off spending the insurance premiums on his house and getting rid of the cheap hollow core doors then hardening entry to it. Hollow core doors and just door handle locks are a joke. Very little security with them.
  18. I pocket carry a Ruger Max 9 in a DeSantis or Remora pocket holster every Sunday to church. IWB I go with SW MP 9MM 2.0 in a Comp Tac IWB holster. Preferer the IWB carry in cooler weather with outside shirt untucked. Every day carry is a 7 shot Taurus revolver in modified DeSantis pocket holster carried in Carpenter shorts or jeans with deep pockets. I make it a point to purchase only jeans that have large pockets. In winter I do carry in an OWB in a Galco blet slide holster some, but one must use a cover garment with this mode of carry. I never carry open carry. I also carry every, day even at home. Just returned from visiting our daughter in the Charleston S Carolina area and I never seen so many "NO" concealed carry signs in businesses. Several years ago, they had the church shooting, and a few weeks back, during spring breakers visit, they had a shooting on the Isle of Palms beach. Charleston has become very woke and un-gun friendly. Also S Carolina State Law prohibits church carry, so I had to leave my "Roscoe" in the locked glove box with the doors locked also.
  19. I have not smoked any type of fish, but had some fried catfish yesterday. The pieces of fish were about 10" long so we fried it with an egg dip then Corn Meal, and it was great. Just a little sea salt and pepper was the ticket for us. Baked fresh asparagus left crisp, cold slaw, and beans to go with it. Meal fit for a King! Have not fried fish in years. Purchased the fish from Kroger, and the guy said it had just arrived and was fresh. Had no fishy smell.
  20. Not seen any black H_B's but have had Downey Woodpeckers drinking from my 2 H-B feeders already this year.
  21. We have a grossbeak pair feeding at our feeder this week. they will be here for a few days and i know they are on the way north. I am about thorough feeding as the cow birds and black birds are storming the feeders and running a lot of other birds off. I have some that are eating almost a half cake of suiet daily. Got enough feed to last till next week then it will be over till fall. Have 2 male hummingbirds for now.
  22. My prayers are and have been with these victims and their families, however local news mentions this event, as sad as it was, every night since it has happened. They will not let it die because they want to influence the public, and TN Government to ban guns, IMO. Sad use of a public trust. (the air waves). Media is a small part of the problem by publicizing these events. Mental illness is a major problem in these events. Edited to add; Dare I mention "Gun Free Zones."
  23. My father had one of these flashlights when I was a kid.
  24. I wanted a lever gun for years. Looked at the Henry's every time I went to the gun store. When the gun shop put the display case in their store they were 550.00 a few years back. I fooled around until they rose to 750.00 and finally, about 8 years back, purchased a Henry Big Boy in 38/357. It was hard to spend that much Lollie on it, but they aren't gettin no cheaper, are they? I purchased the brass one and have really enjoyed that thing for years now. My youngest made me promise she could have it when I am through with it. Holly and her family love the gun. She told me it was her favorite rifle. Guys just something about cranking that lever! My rifle is more accurate than I am. Holly can bang center target at 50 yards constantly with that rifle. I told her she could have it, but just not yet. Just purchased a new SW 686, 7 shot 3" revolver to stand along with the rifle. Good combination IMO. Both in 38/357. I am a 357 fan.
  25. Just got a ad from Outpost Armory, located in Murfreesboro TN. They have 9 MM USA (Winchester) 115 gr RN and PMC 115 gr RN 9 MM on sale for 12.99 per box of 50, if that interest you. Pretty good price for around here. I don't work for them. YMMV Edited to add; Sale is from 4 May to the 7th.
