  1. The Axis II is the better rifle. Has the Better Trigger and a little more accurate. I have the first offering AX 1, one in 308 and 7MM 08. Both are serviceable and reliable rifles. Don't expect it to be a 110 because it is not, but well worth the money. Will take anything the caliber will allow. I really like mine.
  2. Don't live there but traveled there. Camped in the Roan Mtn State Park campground. Beautiful place. Hiked a short distance on the Appellation Trail. Explored the 3 Balds there. Totally amazing, the history, and phenomenal topography. East TN is my favorite area in TN to visit.
  3. My daughter just had a Black Cherry tree blow down and I just finished cutting it up this morning. It is really good wood, but I don't know what to do with it, and don't really need it. The main part of the trunk was about 18" in diameter. The Cherry is in the center and is approx 8" in the center with 4" of white colored wood outside of the cherry. There are still 2 logs, one 5' and another 11' in length. The rest of the tree I had to cut in 3' lengths to be able to extricate them from the horse pasture. By the way the leaves are toxic if livestock eat them in the wilted state. Sure wish someone could use it, but one would need several tools to be able to cut and dry the wood correctly.

    Weapon Light

We keep lights on inside every night. Have multiple night light hallway lighting directed on the floor and lights on in the kitchen at night. I know someone can turn lights off, and that is why the flashlights. I don't use a light on my bedside gun, or any handgun. I keep a good flashlight and a bigger spotlight, with fresh batteries in both. My wife has a flashlight on her side also. This ties up the offhand, but I have accepted the drawback of that situation. The flash light system suites me. I did have thought of purchasing a light for my Mossberg shotgun, but never have as of yet. We had a prowler a few years ago. Followed my daughter home, late at night, and was peeping in the front door glass. She worked as a car hop at Sonic and the dude followed her when she left. He was watching her, so I installed several lights and really lit up the outside of our home well. Also installed an audible driveway alarm. Light is a real deterrent, most times. Edited to add; I don't like the idea of pointing a loaded gun at someone in the night. I know some say one can point it at the floor and use ambient light to identify, but I can point a flashlight also.
  5. If there was a SRO there, looks like he would have backed the Police. I am Leary that there were any guns there except for her(the shooter).
  6. We have a man who is running commercials, to get elected for Mayor of Nashville, who has included "Removing Illegal Guns," in his reddrick, from Nashville. I suppose that is his intent. Sounds good to the uninformed, but pure PoppyCock. This guy hasn't a clue how to accomplish this feat legally.

    New Tool/Toy

Moped, your correct on issues with the 22 for S D. A lot of people have been killed with the 22 Lr caliber and not many can deny that fact. The rub comes that they are not instant great stoppers. Most die from complications of being shot with a 22 later. I don't carry 22s for S D, but I would not hesitate if I needed to carry 22lr because of health reasons. The TX I have would be a little large for discrete Concealed Carry, however I supposed one who had a big need could manage that. I took my TX out again and am really liking this pistol. Nice trigger, accuracy, feels good in the hand, and really shootable. I would guess this one is going to get a lot of use, after it cools a little. After "maturity", I don't deal with heat quiet as well as I once did. Me and "Big Red" are quite comfortable with each other these days. I been doing quite a bit of hunting from B R, on the Outdoor and Sportsmans channel these hot afternoons. "Big Red" is my electric lifting Lazy Boy my wife purchased for me after bypass Surgery as I was unable to lift myself from a laying position shortly after they gutted me. She is small and would have been a large struggle for her to get me up. I slept in that chair for 30 days after surgery. My wife says she thinks I love "Big Red" more than her, sometimes.????????? Edited to add; I sleep really well with both.
  8. This is the first I have heard of armed presence at the school. Wonder about its truthfulness.
  9. I second that, RED333. Have plans to get out the new Taurus TX this morning while it is cooler. Have a good day. Also plan to eat some ribs..

    New Tool/Toy

Just took it to the range and fired it. It shoots really fine. Nice trigger and accurate although I didn't put it to paper. Just fired at steel. Think I am going to like it. Too hot to do much outside for now. Edited to add; Well worth the 269.00 I paid for it new.

    New Tool/Toy

Outpost Armory sent me an add and they had 3 22lr semi auto pistols on sale for the holiday. I purchased the Taurus TX Competitor for 190.00 off regular price of 459.00. I figured any time one can purchase a handgun new, for about half the price, it might be good. The other brand pistols were Sigs in 22LR, I think. One with an safety and one without. The Taurus is drilled and It has a plate on the top for a red dot sight to be added. Also has 3 dot sight on it. The trigger seems to be good because I snapped it a couple times. Don't favor snapping 22s without ammo in them. I like 22 LR practice because the bigger ones is so expensive to shoot like I once did. I have a Sig Mosquito that has been flawless, and a SW 317 8 shot ultralight 22 Revolver that I have put 1000's of round through both. The Taurus should be a good addition as my 22s are getting most rounds put through them on a regular basis. They also had a Federal 22 Lr ammo on sale for 555 rounds for 29.95. My S-I-Law wanted 2 boxes and grandson wanted 2 also. I purchased 8 boxes, which I kept for me. Haven't had the time to get it outside because my range is wet. Will try it soon, I hope. Rain forecasted for every day this coming week.
  12. I am still seeing only one or 2 H-birds at my feeders.

    Weapon Light

Had a friend try a mounted light, a few years back, and it caused his pistol to have failures to cycle. Don't think the newer lights have that problem as they are much lighter. His was a Glock mdl 17, if memory serves me. I never tried one.
  14. Supreme Court ruled you can't shoot someone for stealing mere stuff, period!
  15. My new 686 7 shot has a 3" brl on it. I like the 3" barrels. I pocket carry and the one I have is just a little too large to pocket carry in my carpenter jeans. I purchased this revolver for a nightstand tool and the 3" works fine for that. Keep it stocked with Cor Bon DPX in 357.
  16. Lots of lollie in steel. Don't have near as much as you do on my range. Nice setup Loid.
  17. Guy told me to use a little Dawn dishwashing detergent in my sprayer as a surfactant.

    My first 5.7

Nice looking pistol, but I don't want to start a new caliber and am sticking with 38/357, 9 MM and 40 MM for now. I have purposefully stayed away from the 30 and 5.7 calibers. Hope you enjoy your new tool. good luck with the ammo thing.
  19. Friend told me today it cost 250.00 to renew tags in TN now. That is how they are recouping the gas tax money. There is also a fire danger to the batteries. I see them on the side of the road "some times" while traveling in our RV. Also see older cars also, but not newer ones. Me, not interested in an EV.
  20. Had our asphalt parking lot sealed, at our church, and they used sand mixed in for that non slip purpose. Don't know if it would work for yours, Lucky.
  21. Thanks for the responses, guys. I could never get a straight answer on how much it cost to charge the EVs, although there are a bunch of variables connected with electric cars. I got into a solar water heater and it never paid for itself before the thing went south. When it went south no one would work on it and one could not get parts for them. Had I not received a big tax credit, when I purchased it in the 80's, I would have lost big money on it. I figure the EVs will cost more money than Gas or diesel powered machines let alone the hinderance of having to charge them very often. I have a grandson who purchased an EV, but he did not keep it long. My daughter said it needed charging every time he wanted to go somewhere out of his routine and he didn't have enough juice to get where he was going. All a big boon-doggle, IMO. Doubt I will ever purchase one unless forced too.
  22. Does anyone here know what it cost to recharge a totally electric car at a charging station?
  23. I have only one male bird this year so far. Woodpeckers are emptying my feeders.
  24. Praying for Sarah remission.
  25. Only statement to make is, "He attacked me, there is his Knife/Gun/Weapon, he/she is a witness, Sir I will file a complaint against this man for attacking me, I was in fear of losing my life so I fired out of self-defense, Say to Police officer, Sir you know how serious this situation is so "I need exercise my 5th amendment right and I need an attorney". Say NOTHING else about the case, period. Expect to be detained and hopefully you have some type of "Self-defense insurance", because you are going to need it really bad. My wife and I are members of the Armed Citizens Legal Defense Network, (360-878-1975). Call them and they will talk to you. "Very Reasonable cost." I don't work for them but do have "some" peace of mind should I be forced into a bad situation. Pray I will never need their services. I consider this cost the same as homeowners or health insurance. My advice, "If you carry a gun, you need it."
