Most of the liberal news media is in total meltdown this morning. Their preference did not perform.

If you had the desire for a new firearm, be it rifle, shotgun, or handgun, what would it be? I have really been interested in the new Henry Pistol Caliber 9 MM carbine. It just looks like an interesting rifle to me. What would be your choice for a new firearm?

I did. My wife will after teeth cleaning.

The guy heading this up has contacted a Wearhouse in Elizabethton, TN., and they gave us a list of items. Thanks for the heads up, gary_boom. You need to have what they need, and can use, and a place to go with the items to be of service. Dont know, at this time, if they are going to need my services or not. I have volunteered or will give them funds. Whatever they need of me I am willing. I have 4 nice winter coats we have cleaned and prepared to give. God has blessed us much more than we need. It is all God's anyways, and we are just caretakers. Bless HIM who is in the highest realm. My hope is for us to be there with Him someday. Edited to add content.

Just found out our stuff will be going to a warehouse in Elizabethton TN. they don't know at this time if they will need my services. Depends on the amount of donations they receive. I am not asking for donations guys.

Have volunteered my truck and an enclosed trailer to haul disaster relief supplies to East TN. Our church is collecting goods and money to take up there. Don't know if I will be needed, but have told the leaders I am willing to do what I can do. Can possibly get 2 30 ft trailers one enclosed and the other open. Say a prayer for us.

If I carried this IWB I would like the 4" brl. That is a tad long for pocket carry which I am fond of. I would be very tempted if I came across a new some day. I have had several different Ruger handguns, and all have been exceptional. I put them on the same plane as Smith Wesson. These two are my chosen/favorite brands. You purchase either brand they will increase in value as time goes passes. I have had others brands that diminish in value after taking them out the door.

Ammo was delivered yesterday afternoon. Three day delivery from Oklahoma.

No carry at "any" school event, the way I understand it.
-
Best policy, don't go armed at any school function no matter where it is. Some "just churches" allow concealed carry but they can ban it. Look for signage. If school is in church building, no carry when school function or studies are happening.

Prayer for you this morning, DeepSouth.

I really, really really like my Max 9 Micro pistol. It is thin(1"), size wise it is excellent and fits most pockets with an extended mag. If the pocket is tight, it has a flush mount with 2 rounds less. It does not print as bad as my 7-shot revolver. My hand fits the extended mag much better because the flush mount only holds half my pinkie finger. I do prefer a full finger grip as, for me, it adds to controllability. With Winchester + P 147 gr self-defense ammo it is a handful. That ammo really whacks the Steel I have on my shooting range. The thinness of the pistol makes it slide in and out of my pockets really easy and with the extended mag it comes out with an excellent grip which I do not need to adjust once the pistol is presented. Caliber wise I have confidence in the 9 MM so as to stop a thug, as that is/would be my goal, not necessarily to kill someone. I feel it may take more than one good hit, but I feel that way with my 357 Mag also. I am not naive enough to know that death could "very possibly" happen, however that would not be my goal. Just stop them from hurting my family, or myself, is. I pray often that I am never faced with evil again and be forced to use my tools. I realize that scenario would be my very last resort if all else fails. I know there are several other brands of Micro pistols on the market now. At the behest of my daughter, I went to Outpost Armory with her, and we picked out a Hellcat for my S-I-L's birthday, this year. I hope to get with him and fire that Micro pistol in the future. IMO, the Micro Size is a very good size pistol for concealed carry with tools that are "formattable/adequate" in power, and very comfortable and concealable. I haven't purchased a pistol, in the past, that I have that much confidence in lately. I carry mine in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster and it keeps the grip upright and ready for a fast hand retrieve should I have a pressing emergency. My first love are revolvers because that is what I grew up with. I have personally witnessed their success, on several occasions, at stopping evil without firing a shot, and yes, they are very effective deterrents, however one must possess the mindset to use them if forced too. I have a 7-shot revolver in my pocket as I type this, and yes, I carry at home always. Life taught me a good/valuable lesson a few years back. I never get out of bed, and go outside without it, ever since my date with evil, in my own front yard, has passed. Just some of my thoughts on Micros as I had mine out on the range a couple weeks ago. My Max nine fills my cup, guys. Edited to add content.

IMO, the powers in charge of the FBI and Police went to 9 MM so women could shoot them a little easier. Inclusion at work. Everyone noticed the 2 women who was trying to shield Trump, and one had a hard time re-holstering her 9 MM. By the way didn't do a good job of covering him on the way off the stage, IMO. One simply does not send a 5'3" woman to shield a 6'2" man. Just will not work well, did it??? Edited to add; a lot of Police, "not all", are not gun people any ways. I have chatted with officers that don't even know what they are packing or ammo they are using. Talked to one S Duputy who was, and had just been in a shootout, on I 24, with drug transporters/dealers. They had pistols and he had a 12 Gauge. Shot one and the other 3 dropped their handguns and surrendered. The perp didn't die but it was not pretty afterwards for him.

Just ordered my last ammo purchase for the year. S G ammo has 38 Spl 130 grain Winchester White Box practice ammo for 209.00 for 500 rounds. I purchased 2of the 500 round packages and got them for 199.99. Of course they charge tax. Shipping is free for orders over 200.00. Kinda been hard to find 38 spl on the shelf for a while now. If you do it is 69.00 + per hundred. Good deal IMO. My EDC is 357 mag but I practice with 38 special. Also start teaching with 22LR then go to 9 mm then 38 spl. Got 3 young children plus dad to introduce into the gun culture soon.

There is nothing wrong with a 40 caliber. It is a little snappy, but one will never notice if you need it for emergency work. Kinda like bird hunting with a shotgun. First time I fired a 12 Ga the recoil almost knocked me down. My dad said, "Son the first time you shoot at a flying quail you will not feel the recoil." He was totally right. Same with a handgun recoil. In an extreme emergency one will not notice the recoil if one does not have a medical problem. I would purchase one of these mdl 22's if I were close by. I now have a mdl 23 in 40. I am going to Pigeon Forge on the 14th. May drive back to the "ville" to see if Harveys have any left. Great price if they are quality pistols.

Pete Rose passed away. IMO, they will induct him into the Hall of Fame next year. I saw him play in 1966, in Cincinnati, just before being drafted and on my way to Viet Nam. The fans there loved him. At least he was man enough to admit his shortcomings on his gambling. Don't you know that took "much cohunes". He suffered for it. Really never got the recognition he should have because of it. Some of his records have not been broken, to this day, even with the steroids. This is hard to say, but I applaud the major league for doing the right thing and sent the correct message. Wrong should never be swept under the rug, even for Pete. Lesson there is if you do stupid things they can have lifelong consequences. Just look at Pete Roses' latter life. Edited to add; My father and mother told me this when I was maturing.

I purchased 2 different PPK pistols and could get neither one to fire consistently. Sent both back to the factory and still no firing without hiccups multiple times. Really liked the package and want to carry one. If I were looking for that package today, I would purchase the Bersa 9 MM. IMO, they are "Maby" not better but all I have ever seen were totally reliable in 380 and 9 MM.

I have 2 of the M P 9C 2.0 and 1 M P EZ 9 MM. Not a big fan of their split trigger, but they are doable. Really like the platform size and weight. Also like 15 on board o the 2.0s. Easy to draw and shoot.

I have a gen 2 Mini 14 Ranch, if that is what you are talking about. The one I have fires 226 or 556. My son in law also has a Mini 14 gen 2. Both rifles are fairly accurate, but not tack drivers. Mine will shoot 1 1/2 groups with most ammo. I have never put it through the ringer, on accuracy, because it is sufficient for what I wanted the rifle for. My understanding is the gen 1 were not as accurate although I never owned a gen 1. I probably have fired 400 rounds through the one I have using 4 different brands of 223 and 556 with no problems in the reliability department. Fires both equally well. The one I have satisfies me. I never expected to fire 5 round groups that a dime would cover. Don't believe my Mini will ever do that. My Mini is fun to shoot, however can get into one's pocket where ammo is concerned. I just do not have the funds to shoot as much as I once did. Mostly concentrate on my EDCs now. Edited to add; We purchased ours at Wal Mart a couple years after the gen 2s came out. I memory serves both were around the 500.00 mark each after taxes several years ago.

Sorry about that. -
Question : Would you buy locally made Ammo?
pop pop replied to DraxTheDad's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I would for practice. I have purchased Alabama Brand reloads for practice and they have been quality. Not sure they are still in business. Would not purchase it for S D purposes. Would stay with name brands for S D purposes.
