A Jewish Sinagua had a visitor who fired off some rounds outside today. I don't think he made it in the building but was stopped outside. I didn't catch where it was. We have been a little more cautious at our church as of late, however we are not being paranoid about it. Neither do I conceal carry because I am paranoid like some seem to think. I overcame paranoia while in Vietnam in a foxhole during "The Tet Offensive" of 1968. Nothing much unnerves me ever since, thank God. ERay, you are entitled to your opinion. Let me share with you my thoughts on this subject. Jesus told the Apostles to buy a sword. (Luke 22:35-38) Anyone can read it for yourself in your Bible. In (Luke 9:3) earlier in the book of Luke, Jesus told the apostles He would take care of them, as he sent them out, and they acknowledged that fact He did take care of them in (Lk 22:35). And He said to them, "When I sent you out without a purse and bag and sandals, you did not lack anything, did you?" And they said "No, nothing." Then in the very next verse(36) He(Jesus) said to them, "But now, let him who has a purse take it along, likewise also a bag, and let him who has no sword sell his robe and buy one."(verse 38) "and they said, "Lord, Look, here are 2 swords." And He said to them, "It is enough." Why would Jesus do this? Because he knew he was to be crucified, therefore He would not be bodily present to provide for them. I am totally not trying to be a smart butt, or disparage you in any way, but it seems to me if Jesus was not going to be able to provide necessities (including safety) for the apostles, what makes one think that He will do it for you? I mean we are talking safety here, or Jesus would not have told them to purchase a sword. Swords, when close, punch holes. Guns do it from up close or from a distance. They both are offensive weapons and can be used for self-defense. If I get harmed, while in church, and perhaps even die, I too have confidence God will take care of my soul thru my faith in His Son Jesus the Christ. On the other hand, my wife and children are going to be without their husband and father. My church will be without a servant intent on doing good. If I can help it, I am not going to let them loose me, if I can prevent it. I am a God-fearing man and trying to do a good job of serving in Jesus Kingdom here on earth. These are my thought, eRay. I will go as far to say I like the fact that some are concealed carrying at my church. And do pray that, if evil invades, God will guide them to protect all of us. Why does 80/90% of the people, of the world, just think they will never be in harm's way. I watched the T V news last week and saw the Muslims/Palestinian's pull up and jump out of a car, at a bus stop with many people waiting, and open fire with pistols killing and injuring, and no one had any way of defense. I mean just about everyone in their area are out to kill them. We don't face the problems the Jews do, but we still have a slight/mediocre. chance here in the U S/TN. How does people not see the risk and prepare themselves as best as they can. It just blows my mind! Like sheep being led to slaughter, so-to-speak. Last week I was drafted to be one of the security guys, at my present church where I attend. I am going to be in the regular rotation now. About 14 years ago, I started a "Safety Team," consisting of 17 volunteers, at the previous church I/we attended. I have become a little more mature, and driving at night is harder so we changed to a church much closer to where I live. Instead of driving 45 minutes we drive 8 minutes now. Big help for me with night driving. I call it my church, but in fact it is one body of the Lord's church here on earth. The team I started had to deal with several serious disturbances over the 14 years I was there. The church I am attending now already had a team, so they learned my history, and I got drafted. As I sit there in the entrance, behind locked doors, I pondered what I had seen earlier on the TV News how those Jews were just sitting ducks and wondered why they have not prepared, if they could. I prayed to God to keep us safe, and prayed I would never need to use my tools in any situation, however if I needed too, I would have the ability. I just amazes me!!!! I guess warriors are in short supply now.

I had 2 971's and both are still in use with 2 of my daughters. Not as good as Smiths, from that era, but satisfactory revolvers. I never had any trouble with either of the revolvers.

I have not got on the bandwagon concerning Red Dot Sights on handguns. I have seen trainers, good ones, hunt for the dot in demonstrations, while using them. If you are interested in learning about them, Pros and Cons, google "What Ken Hakathorn says about Red Dot Sights". it is very informative. His opinion, at self-defense distances 7-10 yards, one most probably will be served better by iron sights. Interesting video if you are on the fence.

I seen the nut, in Memphis, on the body cam footage, tell the Police he had previously been followed, and that is why he was open carrying the "seems to be" A R pistol. Admitted to them it was probably a bad Idea. Wonder if he was followed that morning?

My EDC is a Taurus Mdl 617 2" 7 shot snubby in 38/357 Mag. I have 2, one in an alloy frame lightweight 38 Spl only. Both are K frame size and I pocket carry the 7 shot SS 357 daily and have for the past 10 years. Carry it in a modified DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster. It has probably 6 to 800 rounds through it and has always been there. It/they are quality revolvers. I had 2 earlier 38/357 Rossie in 6 shot 38/357 mag 2" brls. Gave both to daughters. They were adequate, but reliable revolvers. If Smith Wesson made a 7 shot K frame, I would purchase it. They don't that I know of. I did recently purchase a 686 + w/ 3" brl, however it is not a pocket carry revolver. I recommend the Taurus or Rossie, but just know I preferer the Smith Wesson brand if they made the same thing. I learned a long time ago to spend the extra 1 to 2 hundred to purchase the best, if they have what you want. It will be much more satisfying in the long run. Taurus is a good second choice IMO. Rossie 3rd. Edited for sspelling.

Buying a gun safe was the hardest thing for me to do. I knew I needed one, but very hard for me to spend the money. Know what you are going thru! I also purchased a Cannon Gun Safe from TSC years ago. They do not deliver so you would need to get it to your house. Sometimes they put them on sale. My Cannon holds 42 guns, so they say. I think they called it a "Fat Boy" at the time. I have a friend that purchased the biggest safe TSC has around the same time I purchased the one I have 20 years ago. Ours have served us well. It cost 1/3 what a Liberty safe cost at that time. I got mine on a special sale. I checked out the Safe House in Nashville, and also D T McCall's in Carthage. Purchased form TSC. Good luck on your find, TSG. Edited to add; I think my safe weighed 500 pounds. We moved it in the house strapped on a 2 wheeled dolly. It is 60" tall, 24" deep, and 40" wide. I picked it up on an 8'x12' lawn mower trailer and we rolled it off on the dolly and into the house. Was not a large job. The safe House delivers for a small fee. I have been well satisfied with the Cannon.

I am on the side of a slight declining in sales. Black Friday usually has nothing to do with gun sales except at Bass Pro. Sometimes, they have some deals a Xmas. Edited to add content; My wife's money man told her the economy is tanking. Car sales are down, housing sales down, and new construction down. Sounds like problems ahead to me. At least in our area.

DHF, that is the one I have. Thanks for the link/picture. It is great for the kitchen. Bout 4 licks on each number and the knife will be very sharp.

My son-in-law ordered me a kitchen knife sharpener, from Amazon, while they were here last week. My old one that came with the kitchen knife set is worn out. It was just a steel rod type. This new one is a drag through made by "Kitchellence." It is a 1, 2, and 3 drag thru process. 1 is a rough cut on the blade cutting edge, and 2 is a more suttle cutting on the blade, and the number 3 is a ceramic dressing drag through. It takes about 4 drags on each number and the thing will cut anything. I even sharpened my pocketknife, this morning, and it is totally sharpened. The appliance is a small stable handheld appliance with a rubber coating that sets stable on the counter. Has a cut through glove to put on your hand that holds the large handle made on the sharpener. One just aligns the knife blade straight, with the sharpener, and drag the knife thru one way. Don't know how much it cost, but "That thing works" guys.

I have decided not to go with a gate. I have a 35' RV and it would make it almost impossible to turn the 5th wheel into my drive if I installed a gate. Just not enough room and I would be forced to move the gate so far up the drive it would not be feasible/effective without fencing the drive up to the gate. If this situation persists then I will need to take some kind of additional action. I do like the idea of a gate, but my wife says we get deliveries during the day, Amazon, Fed X, UPS, and Snail Mail, so we would need to leave it open during the day. It still puzzles me why this person circled my drive at 4:20 in the morning. I have been up every morning since and have had no other intrusions. Just puzzling. My wife says I am obsessed with this stuff. We will see! Glad I had the driveway alarm at any rate. At least I knew the car was in my drive at 4 in the morning. The alarm gave me prior warning and did its job. I too feel no good can come from nighttime prowlers. Just worrisome.

Darrell, where did you purchase the gate. My drive would be perfect for a gate. We only have a 30' opening to leave the main road. We have a large roadside bank, 6' high, that runs the entire road frontage of our property and the one next door. A gate would stop people at the road. Thanks for suggestions. as I stated in opening post, quiet unnerving to us.

My driveway alarm activated at 4:20 A M this morning. Got up and walked to the front door and viewed auto taillights exiting my circle driveway. It was an older large car. My drive is 300' off the road and one cannot see the circle from the road. One way in and one way out, with circle at the top of the slight elevated hill. Had to be someone intending to come back here. Unnerving guys. Turned on outdoor flood lights and sit up watching. I had a prowler a few years back and I have lit up the outside of my house really well. I don't keep all of them on but have several plus a streetlight on at all times. I am thankful I installed the driveway alarm a couple years ago. They were having prowlers looking for Xmas presents stored in car sitting in driveways on Xmas Eve in my area so I purchased the D alarm from Amazon.

I used the ceramic kit from Wal Mart on my truck lights. Easy to do, and under 20.00. No sanding, just clean with provided cleaner and spread the ceramic liquid evenly over the freshly cleaned surfaces and let dry. Wal Mart also has a kit to treat the black plastic around bumpers and wheels and it works great also. Leaves the plastic looking new. Easy to apply and restoration does last.

myg30, your so right. I almost got beat down, in my own front year, just walking 300' to the mailbox. IMO, if I had not had a revolver in my pocket, and the will to use it, I would have been beat down by 3 druggies.

My youngest daughter and her family are here, and we were shooting yesterday, and she asked if I would get the Henry Lever out so she could shoot it. She loves that rifle. Hope to get it out on Friday and bust some caps. It is 38/357 Mag caliber. She asked me to give the rifle to her when I get finished with it. I am. We have shot up some expensive ammo this month. We have fired around 2,000 all totaled, rounds this past 2 weeks. With the 3 newbies I trained last week and my grandkids this week. They look forward to this week every year. My 13 Y O granddaughter took my Model 60 22 w/scope and was dinging the 22 steel tree target with 2" swing out targets at 50" feet like crazy. That thing is a "hoot to shoot". She out shot her brother, mom and dad with that rifle. That thing is a tack driver. Shoots 1" groups at 50 yards off sandbags. Edited to add; They all want to shoot the Henry lever. Guess another 100/200 or so rounds of 38 Spl and 357 Mag are going to get burned, L/w. I will say the Henry is one of my favorite rifles also. Just something about swinging that lever. When I was a kid my dad had a 243-lever gun. I shot it all the time. He also had a pre-model 10 38 Spl revolver and I fired it whenever he got it out. Guess my love for them followed me from kiddom into adulthood. Truly thankful today for family, and epically for Jesus Christ, and what he has done for us all. I praise Him.

Moped, I had 2 PPk/s and could not get either of them to run reliably. Sent both back to the factory with not good results. Both were 380's. Loved the size and fit, but I got rid of them. The Max 9 is close to the size/feel, but blockier. My max has better sights and been very reliable. My son-in-law purchased one, upon my recommendation, and carries it all the time. Between us we have about 1500 rounds thru both and no problems.

One report said the perp was armed with a knife. We will se later.

Had a shooting at a strip mall in M'boro this morning on N Thompson Lane. Attempted Loomis Armored Truck robbery. Loomis guard drew his pistol, and the perp ran to the nearby Jason's Deli and attempted to rob the restaurant. M'boro Cops arrived and confronted him and ordered him to stop. A shootout ensued and he was fatally shot by the Officer. Reported a 44 Y O local man. Details to follow.

Took my TX to the range this morning. Run 300 rounds through it. Also took a Mdl 60 Marlin 22LR. Can't beat a good 22. Grandkids loved them both. Can't beat a god 22.
