  1. Teacher "Volunteers" have been carrying in Ohio for a few years (3-4) now. Same old, same old blood will be running in the streets/hallway's thing happened there when they first decided to allow teacher to be armed. HAS NOT happened in Ohio. Those trained for the Ohio program are more highly training than most Police Departments are. You guys are holding up SRO's but you know Cop hit rates are, in many cases, much lower that armed citizens. SRO have some additional training, but not that much. I am glad we have SRO in Rutherford County, and have had for years. I am not against SRO's, but believe volunteers could be an asset to them. You guys are sounding like the TN Dems on Capitol hill. I watched the head Democrat leader saying just about the same as you guys, a week ago when this bill came up, and just about every time a new gun bill comes onto the scene. Blood has NEVER ran in the streets, because of one of these new laws, and it will not in schools if volunteers get to conceal carry. The evidence is "TOTALLY" "NO DOUBT" "CLEAR", one needs to be on scene ASAP to stop continued/prolonged carnage. Young, capable, "well trained" people, on scene, is/has a much faster response than 3- 6 minutes away. Nashville handled the Covenant shooting as good as it could have been handled, and yet they still had carnage. The Lakewood church, in Houston Tx, was handled, IMMEDIATELLY upon entry by the shooter, by security on scene. Don't know if paid or volunteer, but both work. Just consider the Texas church of Christ that the shooting was on film. That volunteer did a head shot at 40 feet with a room full of people. Out of the 3 shot there, out of 170 or so people, was the perp after he killed 2 the two. Only Seconds passed before he was stopped. What would they have done if they waited for 3-6 min for the Police to respond. Open your eyes guys, please! The church shooter, at the church of Christ, had 8 more rounds on him. By no means bragging, but I could have been a volunteer when younger because I could shoot and had a level head on me. I am sure some of you could have also. I can't now because I am "old", however the young can. I don't compare myself to the young now because I know better, and so do most of you old guys. Let the young "WELL TRAINED" guys and gals do it, IF THEY WANT TOO. Many of them can and will if given the chance. Not going to say there will never be any collateral damage, that is an impossibility. I am saying it will not out weigh the good that can possibly be accomplished by allowing them to protect themselves.
  2. Why can't the teacher simply protect himself in a school? That is what I do at church. Been doing it since TN passed the Concealed carry laws years ago. You guys are worry warts! Edited to add; How is it working now? By all means pass the law.
  3. I have had good luck with Taurus. I have 4 Revolvers and 1 TX C 22 pistol. Have 1 38 Spl 7 shot 2" ultra lite revolver, 2 38/357 2" brl 7 shot revolvers, and 1 22 Mag 3" 8 shot revolver. All have been good. Never had what your looking at but I would not be afraid of the Taurus revolvers.
  4. IMO, there is not very little difference between the MP, Hellcat, P 365, Glocks, Ruger Max 9/ LCP, or any of the mid-range priced "Fantastic Plastic" Mini or Micro pistols. These are pistols in the 400 to 500 dollar range. All are fairly cheap and very reliable pistols. My 3 MP have been flawless with anyone I allow to shoot them.
  5. I did the sleep study in Murfreesboro. They said, in my worst hour of sleep, I stopped breathing 61 times. Hard to believe. I am on C-pap and have been for 9 years. It helps my sleep. A lot of drawbacks. Can't snuggle with wifie as the face gear is intrusive. I need the full facemask (covers both mouth and nose) because I breath thru my mouth when I sleep. Have a chin strap to help with that. The machine has stopped my snoring, for the most part. Medicare pays for my setup. It is expensive. It helps me. YMMV
  6. I have 2 with 4" brls, one with a manual safety and one without, and If memory serves me, I gave around 450.00 for mine NIB at Outpost Armory in Murfreesboro TN. The one without the safety is my go-to carry, in a Comp Tac IWB holster. Really like the platform. Purchased a 4" MP EZ in 9MM also. Arthritis!!!! All 3 of mine has been flawless. Highly recommend the MP's.
  7. I hear all these people on TV say they are for "Common Sense Gun Laws". What exactly does that mean? No one ever says what it is they're asking for.
  8. Thanks for the well wishes guys. Going to Physical Therapy now. It is going well, and I am surprised because of all the pain that the shoulder had before surgery. I guess when they relieved the compression on the nerve most of the pain went with it. Dr told my wife he removed 2 large bone spurs along with dressing the frayed rotator cuff that the spurs caused. All I know is it feels much better. Now trying to build strength in the arms. Not easy to do at 76, but I am slowly plugging away at it. I think P T is for 6 weeks, 2 times per week and every day at home. Going to do it. Thanks again.
  9. My daughter has an underground fence. Works great for her 2 dogs. Once they learn their perimeter the do not challenge it. Lots cheaper than a woven wire install.
  10. I purchased a lifetime license and lost my copy for my billfold. How or where can I go to get a copy to carry? Going on a fishing trip in early May.
  11. Defender rough trip for sure. Hope things get better for you. Dealing with shoulder surgery last Monday myself. Just turned 76. No, it is not for sissies. Edited to add; Just prayed for you brother.
  12. Had my shoulder scoped (3-18-24) on Monday, and really feeling it today. Bone spurs. Removed 2 large ones and cleaned up rotator cuff where the spurs damaged. Very sore this morning. Go for bandage change tomorrow and set P T in motion. Been dealing with much pain for over a year. Was on blood thinner for 4 heart stent insertion last year. Looking forward to improvements.
  13. If you don't mind sharing K, are you armed when you do your running? This is a personal question, and you don't need to answer if it bothers you. Just curious. I have something to share with you if you don't go armed in the country. Your choice completely to share. Will not offend me if you don't.
  14. If the dogs are fenced in and not on the roadway, he is within the law. If the dogs are out running loose he is wrong. If he was out at 11;00 PM he was probably thinking something was after his livestock, if he has any, most likely. You have a right to go down the roadway, then again you must live there. You must try to resolve this issue as best as you can. You and him need to have another face to face and try to resolve this issue. He has no right to restrict your movement up and down the roadway. He very well may be trying to intimidate you into doing what HE wants. You got a big problem K. Just may need to daytime run to solve this issue. When chest get pushed out between 2 people, it needs to be resolved. Pushing the issue "POSSIBLY" could lead to real trouble.
  15. SG Ammo.com has the best prices I have found lately. Purchase the shipping Insurance. If gets lost in shipping, they will give you full refund. Anything over 200.00 free delivery.
  16. A 22LR revolver to start, for sure if it is a lady or young child. It simple and will introduce them to the noise and very slight recoil. Then head up the caliber range. Usually stay with the revolver platform in 38 Spl then go to Pistols starting with 9MM. Thats the way I fly. Have a young family I intend to teach to shoot, for the first time, with 3 young kids, 14, 12, and 8. Wife may take part also. Edited to add; if the want to go to rifle, then I go with an AR 15.
  17. I have pocket carried a 7 shot revolver for a long time. Have purchased a Ruger Max 9 that I carry to church when wearing trousers that print my revolver. If I go with larger round count I go with IWB S W MP 9C 2.0, but For 95% of the time it is the old-style revolver in the strong side pocket.
  18. Don't know you but welcome. Edited to add; From Middle TN.
  19. Been there for me although I never had the attack. I now have 9 stents in my veins and had double bypass. Dr Boyd is my Dr at St Thomas West. Like that Hospital, Dr's, and staff. At 76, with Agent Orange problems, I feel thankful just to be here. Prayers for you grunt67. Do the rehab.
  20. IMO you would be lucky to get the revolver for $200. That would be a bargain. I would say more like $350. to 450. this day in time. Just purchased a new in the box S W 686 + 3" and shelled out 999,00. The revolver is worth whatever you decide to pay for it. If you want it, purchase it and don't look back. IMO worth more than the 2 mark, but it is your "Lollie" at stake here.
  21. I make it a point to stay away from rallies and such. Leave the politics to the crazies. I just go vote and then let it go. I have friends who you can't mention politics, or that will be the subject for the next hour.
  22. Big K, not hard to believe. most investigators and insurance companies will look at your every action for the past few months. This is not the first time I have heard about USCCA denning coverage to their members. I am sure the teacher who did you Concealed Carry permit training told you about self-defense laws. Take a class, Noting wrong with training oneself. I do that every time I go to my firing range. Prosecutor could say I went to my range and practiced before I shot someone but wouldn't necessarily make it so. I try to go to my rang on a regular basis. Educate yourself all I am saying. I don't know about the lady your speaking of because we don't have all the facts, so it is hard to make a judgment in her case. I just hope and pray I never need to use S D for me or mine.
  23. I am a member of ACLDN and have been for years. It is NOT insurance but does have a review board. Massad Ayoob, Marty Hayes, John Farnum, Tom Givens, and a couple more are on the review board. These are some of the names of the most knowledgeable people in the Self Defense Field. These guys will do a review to make sure it is self-defense afterwards. Comes down to trust guys. I trust these men and this organization, Armed Citizens Legal Defense Network. Like crc 4 states, they all do it(some type of review). Now I don't know about Attorneys on Retainer, but I would need to know they, are highly skilled in self-defense law, and can defend a Self Defense (affirmative defense) case. IMO, I want the best attorney I can find in Self Defense cases. They are few and far between (good S D attorneys). I also agree with crc4 you must know your states, or the state where you are in, laws of self-defense in order to be sure your within your rights to legally use force.

    Birthday Gift

Talked to son in law this morning and he has already ordered a green laser and an IWB holster for the Hellcat. Told him I have a pocket holster for the Hellcat so he is bringing it over tonight to see if it will fit my DeSantis Nemesis Pocket Holster I have here at the house. I have my Ruger Max 9 in one we modified. I like pocket carry. If I go IWB I go bigger, MP 9C 2.0.
  25. We hired a couple men to come and cut about 4 miles of horse trails on my daughter's 89-acre farm. First guy had a work ethic problem. That might be an option for you if you just need a tad bit of cutting. The last guy we hired did superb work and was fairly reasonable for the amount of money he had tied up in the cutter and tracked skid steer. The last guy we got was out of Lebanon TN. The trails were really grown up and he had the grinder head that ground the trees and brush into chips. Said the cutter cost him 60,000. new and the Skid Steer was about 40,000 used. Plus, he had to have a dully truck and heavy trailer to be mobile with it. We paid him by the hour, and he produced good work. We cut 4 miles of trails, 10 feet wide, up and down hills, and it ended up costing my daughter about 6,000,00. I walked the trails and used surveyors' tape so he could follow it through the brush. Worked out really well for us. May be an option for you Darrell.
