As well as the others mentioned STI makes some nice commander sized single stack 1911's also, like the Guardian and Ranger II. I have a full size Lawman and have been very happy with it.

I can't speak for the P22, but I do have a Mosquito. It is not extremely accurate(it's decently accurate though) and it can be finicky about ammunition, but it gets less picky the more I shoot it. If your buddy wants something super accurate and stone reliable, then a Ruger Mark II/Mark III or Browning Buckmark would probably be a better choice. I also have a Ruger Mark III and it is much less ammo sensitive and much more accurate than my Mosquito, but the Mosquito is just a lot of fun to shoot and I shoot it more often.Cliff

Since this thread has already gone so very, very wrong, check this out: What, What In the Butt - Clips - South Park Studios

That was great stuff. I was laughing out loud until he started on my beloved 1911's which took me down to a chuckle. But I was rolling again by the time I got to the FN Fal. My favorite was the .32ACP- "Inadequate for anything more thick-skinned than Northeastern squirrels or inbred Austrian archdukes."

Commentary: How insurance firms drive debate, By East TN man.
USMCJG replied to Daniel's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
That's the problem right there. The facts don't support the argument. The number of uninsured among all demographics, with the exception of latinos(read: illegal aliens)has gone down over the last few years. At least it has according to the very same Census report that is being used to justify this power grab disguised as desperately needed legislation. Why is everyone just now becoming outraged because of the cost of health care and the "broken" system? Because the administration and the media are just now telling them that the system is irreparably broken and that they should be outraged. The problem is more an invention of the media than it is an actual problem. Sure, there are problems with the system. But none of them will ever be solved by a huge and inevitably completely government controlled system. Based on the latest census the real percentage of the population who are uninsured(not counting illegals and those who would rather spend their money on other things- people who make a lot more money than me yet somehow cannot afford health insurance when I pay for mine out of my own pocket)is around 6.67%. And that is a pretty generous estimate. The real number of people who are uninsurable or cannot afford health insurance and are not covered by medicare or medicaid is probably even smaller than that. Even if the numbers being thrown around were entirely accurate, the number affected would be less than 20%. I don't see any reason for the government to intervene in private industry to protect <20% at the ultimate expense of the other >80%. Not to mention the fact that the government has no legal, Constitutional right to do it in the first place. For those that have insurance but think they are paying too much for it, you can thank the government for that. As has been said and ignored many times before, increased government intervention that reduces competition will always drive up costs. Tort reform would also have a drastic and nearly immediate impact on insurance costs. But can you imagine a bunch of lawyers(aka Congress) voting in favor of something that could actually adversely effect them and their peers, even if it was in the best interest of the people they "represent"? I'm glad I have health insurance because I think I busted my gut laughing when I read that. -

Well said. That's about as simply and as accurately as it could be put. -

Here's an interesting little tidbit about health care reform and the accusations that the health care industry is solely behind the "conspiracy" to stop government run health care: THE PROPONENTS of the health care bill are OUTSPENDING THE OPPONENTS 3 to 1 in advertising. That should be a red flag right there. As for the guy in the original article, I'd advise some people to do a little research into the organization who signs his paychecks. -
Thanks. It's in a remodel.

British bike?
-
Thanks everyone! As of right now we will be using cherry dowels.
-
I agree, I'm a safe kind of guy too. I actually recommended a safe, but he wanted a display cabinet. But as I said, I really don't think security will be an issue. Let's put it this way, if it were my house, I wouldn't think twice about having a display cabinet there instead of a safe. I'll post more pics when it's finished, but it may be a while.
-
The guns are just sitting in there for the pictures. There will of course be locks on the cabinet and one very pissed off retired vet around if someone decides to try anything. With this guys location and security system, I don't think there will be a problem. Besides, it's what the customer wanted and the customer is always right.Cliff

Wow! That's a great deal for an M&P and a good holster. Congratulations, I love my M&P9c. Did you get the full size or the compact?

This is a solid cherry(except for the subsurface of the back and drawer bottoms) gun cabinet we built for a guy this week. It's a built-in and the walls around it will be covered in cherry raised panels. It still needs the drawer fronts(the screws in the fronts of the drawers are there so that they can be opened until we install the drawer fronts and pulls), felt, lights, and the glass doors with cherry frames. The four rectangular areas below the main long gun storage will be covered in felt and have pegs to hang handguns on. What do you guys think?

I'm not sure how that would work, but it sounds like it might be fun.Actually it's a Kawasaki Z1000. It's a pretty comfortable bike to ride(not quite so hard on the back as the "crotch-rockets" I'm used to, but still quick and nimble enough to keep me interested), except for that God awful seat. I've always meant to get a Corbin for it, but never got around to it.
-
I might be in(if I can't sell my bike before then). But honestly, I don't think there is any way my butt will allow me to stay in my seat(aka the torture chamber) all the way to middle Tennessee. I'd have to put her in the truck or leave three days early.

From what I can tell, the differences between the Ultra CDP II and the Ultra Carry II, with the exception of finish, are that the CDP has the "carry melt treatment", ambi safety, and it comes with night sights. Both of these pistols have an aluminum frame. I don't believe Kimber makes an "Ultra"(3" barrel) sized pistol with anything other than the aluminum frame. It sounds like the Kimber that is closest to what you want, without any aftermarket parts, would be the Ultra Crimson Carry II- Kimber - Continuing The Legacy It is basically identical to the Ultra Carry II, except it has a blued slide instead of stainless and it comes with the Crimson Trace laser grips. As far as best price, I really don't know. Cliff

That was good stuff. Glad those citizens at that town hall stood up against the liberals trying to astroturf their meeting. Hopefully this will keep happening wherever they bus in paid employees to argue in favor of socialized health care. The worst part is that some of our tax dollars are paying for these shills.
-
I was a bit surprised to see it, considering Ermey is a Team Glock member, but he actually said that the 1911 was his favorite pistol. I noticed that he seemed to be a little loose with his trigger discipline too.

First loads done. Questions for those who know.

I don't truly crimp .45ACP reloads. I just "crimp" enough to remove any belling of the case mouth left over from expanding, but not enough to really crimp the case to the bullet. -
That is some of the funniest stuff I've seen in a long time.

I can tell just by reading each characters brief synopsis that this new Red Dawn is going to be a big, steaming pile of crap. A movie this good deserves either a shot for shot remake or to be left alone.
-
I love Red Dawn. The best case ever made in a Hollywood film for the 2nd Amendment. I also just hope they don't screw it up in the remake.
-
Bingo. Well said.
