  1. I thought maintaining control of your firearm was the first safety rule....
  2. You would hear bells for weeks after getting out. Wonder if anyone ever thought of firing a grappling hook from a rifle mounted grenade launcher and just dragging the wire back to be removed or at an angle to the side until it breaks?
  3. I can't believe someone broke tgeir leg running from the restaurant.. The guy that stopped this shooter will still go through lots of crap before it is over.
  4. So many people were so obsessed with that. I had no desire to watch a total stranger's wedding.
  5. Is there a story link or something on this?
  6. Precisely why I have no desire to go south of the border. Good kit. I recently had to fly on a last minute work trip. I had little time or transportation while there. So I threw some paracord, electrical tape (small and explainable by my job), a small pen light, a carabiner (secondary use like the bottle opener) and a sturdy pen in my bag. Once there I did have dinner free the 1st night. I had a fantastic prime rib washed down with a Drafty Kilt Ale...or 2...in the hotel resturaunt. On the way out I might have palmed my steak knife. Back in the room, I made a makeshift sheath from paperboard and electrical tape. That rode nicely in my sock for the rest of the days. At the end, I tossed the sheath and left the knife in my room as seemingly a room service forgotten item. Now I know this was far from ideal, but it got me a option.
  7. That was so worth the read. I think I woke my wife when I snorted at the instructor interaction.... Different cultures breed very different tactics and weapons.
  8. Ok, I give on how the knife and "bottle" opener" work together. Unless... you need a cigar cutter...? Defensive uses and cutting restraints I see.
  9. Yeah, I know. Trying to avoid hot water at home since I can't ship to work any more. Lol But is out of stock online too now. That woukd have been sweet. I bought 2 9mm and 1 .45 bucket when they had that.
  10. Well since she stored it like this, I would day it was more for show..More like wall art....Definitely not the best idea. Either it is loaded (I doubt) or the ammo is not real close....
  11. Went to get some a few days ago and was out locally. Hope it comes back in before sale runs out.
  12. Welcome. I am within spitting distance of you.
  13. Zebra, another model pen, and sharpie - for writing and other things.. Handcuff keys - high kidnapping rate in Mexico Small and large flashlights Tourniquet FAK ? "Bottle opener" Dental Floss - traditional use, repairs, cordage Neck knife Lighter Duct tape around a card Wallet with cash and cards Secondary wallet for more important cards and such. Lets you hand off some cash and misc useless cards to a mugger without losing your real items and larger stash of cash. Cigars - for social and be friending. Also can be used as a deversion in the hand if needing to off balance someone and draw them in closer. If distance or longer range options not at hand. A real last ditch effort. Or maybe I am analyzing it too much. Lol
  14. Donate them to the "Ronald_55 Home for easily offended children" I promise to give you a tax receipt. Think of the children.
  15. Has anyone noticed that the foreend on that shotgun looks square? I bet there's no way she could shoot that without falling down. Even though it seems she has handled some big guns in the past.....
  16. I would have him order it and get it shipped to a GA FFL. Then just give him cash if you want to gift it. Save's a lot of hassle and fees.
  17. Just put out 2 types of peppers and some tomatoes yesterday. My wife's work was giving plants away as part of their healthy inintitive. I still have cucumber., cantaloupe, squash, and watermelon to put out. Gotta get some dirt to get the other raised bed set up. Hopefully get tgat done today. Got more strawberries to pick once this shower lets up. Looks like my rhubarb may not be coming back though. Does anyone use a rain water catch barrel to water the plants. Either manually or via soak hose. Rainwater always seems to do better than utility water. Just would be hard for me to set up.
  18. I picked up a Rossi 92 off a member a while back. I love it with both .357 and .38. Almost no recoil. Been looking for a .357 lever for a while. There are just so many 30-30 levers out tgere used. That keeps the price down.

    CMP 1911’s

I agree this is a lot of work. I looked into it all when tgey first announced them. You would think they were selling them for $200 on a Black Friday Special to require this much. I would have to join a club that I might never use just to be eligible. I would like one, but I doubt I would shell out the cash. I am not really a collector though. Plus if I bought it, I would feel obligated not to resell it at a profit after that much work even if I could.
  20. The banning of importing some of the Russian stuff hurt AKs and overflowed to hurt SKSs. I have all 3 mentioned. I like them all. If it comes down to a cash decision, I agree the AR is it in the semi auto. You can find fully assembled new ones at less that $400 before taxes and fees from makers like PSA, DPMS, and others. Plus ammo is reasonable. There are also bolt actions like some of the Savage models that are nice for the low end.
  21. Looks like no scary ARs involved. Just a shotgun and a .38 revolver belonging to his Dad. So no law short of total confiscation would change this. The people around this kid maybe were not paying enough attention. I struggle keeping on top of all my kids do, and I am in IT. I try very hard to call them out on stuff either by grounding them for unacceptable behavior or by talking to them when they are the one getting abused by others. You have to do that so much more nowadays or you can have kids act out in due to the pressures they face. A percentage of that can lead to these horrific events. AND I keep my weapons and ammo secured at all times where they do not have access. I agree with Bersa that when I went to school I had many a fist fight, but no one involved ever thought getting a gun was the answer. Even though I had a very rough social time in school, I did not want to go kill anyone there.
  22. Sounds like a great trip even though I am not a boater. Last canoe I was in ended up making me swim. The chance to get out and away would be great though.
  23. Less than 5 hours for Pelosi to be using this as leverage... the blood in the ER is not even try yet... Yep. They seemed to have talked to a lot of kids really quickly during an active shooter event.... It does make one wonder.....
  24. I saw that. Media is already all over it. Initial reports talk about a shotgun. If a kid can walk into a school carrying a shotgun, security is probably not being implemented at all.
  25. I stopped by the gun counter at Wal-Mart since I was there at about 8 PM. I thought I would look and give you an opinion. After waiting a few minutes after the call for a manager, the young man running the counter told me that the only manager that could open up the gun cases was just leaving. He was not allowed to since he had only worked in sporting goods 2 weeks. I feel old sometimes, but for a 24 hour store I always find that the people in charge go home and take the keys. I mean, 8 PM is not a ridiculous hour to look at a gun. 2 AM maybe... So sorry. If I am back in there earlier in the day, I will take a look.
