  1. Odd they admitted https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/business/dicks-sporting-goods-admits-suffering-gun-policy-backlash-as-sales-slide Thursday, November 29, 2018 Dick's Sporting Goods admits suffering gun policy backlash as sales slide by Joe Williams | November 28, 2018 10:56 AM Print this article AD Sales at Dick's Sporting Goods dropped in the past three months amid backlash against tighter gun-sale restrictions following a mass killing early this year at a Florida high school. Revenue dipped 4.5 percent to $1.86 billion amid challenges in the company's hunting business during the quarter through Nov. 3. Sales at stores open at least 12 months – a key metric for the retail industry – fell 6.1 percent compared to the prior year. Dick's raised the minimum age to purchase a gun to 21 and stopped selling assault rifles last February after a Valentine's Day shooting in Broward County that left 17 students and staff dead. The decision sparked opposition from conservative activists, some of whom had proposed arming teachers in response and threatened to boycott the brand, and prompted at least one employee to resign. While Chief Executive Officer Edward Stack previously said the firearms policy brought in new customers and sales were reported as flat in August, Dick's has now warned that "negative reaction" could affect future results. Despite lower sales, cost management and a higher margin helped the Pittsburgh-based sporting goods chain boost profit 2.5 percent to $37 million. Stack is investing in new bricks-and-mortar stores, opening six in the quarter, and bolstering the firm's e-commerce business, where sales climbed 16 percent. "Our efforts have been focused on driving profitable sales and managing our business to deliver higher earnings," Stack said in a statement. The company "accelerated freight coming in for January" in response to President Trump's tariffs on $250 billion in products from China and said it would, among other actions, raise prices on customers in 2019 to help mitigate the added costs. Trump has threatened to hike the tariffs from 10 percent to 25 percent and extend the levies to an additional $267 billion in imports.
  2. This is usually a story I would pass over, but it shows so much bad judgement on both sides. The gate agent was highly disrespectful and unprofessional and posts it for the world to see. The mom..what did she think people were gonna say? ABCDE, Really? https://abc7.com/amp/travel/oc-southwest-gate-agent-mocks-5-year-old-girls-name/4784236/ A Southwest Airlines gate agent at John Wayne Airport is accused of being awful in front of a five-year old girl - and on social media - because of her unique name. The girl's mother says the agent made fun of the name and even posted a photo of her boarding pass on social media for others to chime in. Five-year-old Abcde Redford pronounces her name "ab-city." ... You can go read the rest if you want.

  8. Thought I needed to post something more like this today. It is easy to get caught up in things and wound up. Sometimes we just need to remember to look up and not miss the scenery In honor of the ETN snow today....2 different looks at Norway
  9. I saw a guy work the bar strip in Nashville running people to and from hotels a while back. At certain times of day/night that could keep you busy. Not sure if anything like that is closer to you than Nashville.
  10. I know a teacher st my kid's school drives for them during NASCAR races in Bristol. I am guessing that qualifies as a Surge area. Lol Hats off to you, I could not do it, but then again I would avoid all face to face interaction if I could. I am anti-social like that. I assume it pays better than talking to tire kickers all day.
  11. My Dad bought my kids both one for their 1st birthday. Wish it had beem around when I was a kid. Seemed pretty straight forward from what he said.
  12. @robtattoo Look today some of the streaming devices are on sale today. Amazon Fire stick with voice remote $25 Google Chromecast $21.25 Roku stick $30
  13. So how does Uber pay?
  14. Not followed guitars in a while. Do they still make Japanese Strats? They used to be better than the Mexican but not as good as the US from what I remember. Is he a new musician or older established one?
  15. Are you calling a Gun Jesus a liar?
  16. I'm in
  17. Looked like the blade came out his collar bone area. Even without Talking Dead, I assume he is dead. Typical though. He could have just went out the gate. Jam a limb in the gate and run. After all this time, these guys still suck at tactics. Plus sometimes I think the show just needs to lighten the payroll. Maybe with Rick and Maggie gone their budget got reined in because they expect lower viewership. So it has been 6 years. That is a lot of time to manufacture ammo. It seems like they are not using their guns much at all. I mean even in life or death situations. Black powder is not rocket science. It is not as good as smokeless, but it would work. Primers might be a commodity, but some chemistry could cook up the compound. Just re-use the primer caps after taking out the dent. Oh well there I go being practical again..
  18. Except for big box store fliers and some email lists I am on, I did not see much without having to dig. I saw some online chatter about Wal-Mart being hell as always. Though you can get a lot of the same deals online (if the site cooperates ) I remember seeing a $250 AR last year, but most like PSA stuck to $300 or so. Academy offered $50 gift cards with several guns that were on sale. So the crazy kickoff day to Christmas shopping survives.
  19. Just think of it this way. Now you have some knife handle material.
  20. If I knew you could put Thor's hammer on a handle I would have talked to you about that before. Is it carved or branded? Can you do a Tiawaz rune? I like and would use this, but the size does make it more of a costume or display piece. I would favor a stand or wall mount rack, maybe with the more traditional sheath displayed with but off it. A drinking flask would make a goid addition too. On the glass case, if you check with a local glass cutter, you might get something much cheaper than you think. I have had them cut me several custom pieces, but not a box.
  21. All they have to do to avoid lots of costs if a buyback does occur is require origional proof of purchase. 2nd hand owners will not have it and the origional owner will no longer have the stock to turn in. Heck lots of 1st hand owners may not have a receipt anymore. Plus the receipt will let them make sure they target every business that sold them. I agree that a buyback is not likely though.
  22. Because it says Smith & Wesson on the side...? Ok, I bite...How?
  23. And what is with the scars? Did Daryl have the same x scar as Michonne?
  24. No there was another toddler that showed up when Magna was about to come in and fight Michonne. Guessing That was it.
