By sheer stupid luck I had picked up a partial box of N95 that were gonna get tossed at the place I used to work. Tgry used then for dusk masks. I mean I had everyone other type masks, but not N95. Wife never so happy for once that I carried "junk" home. Not a lot but 2 for each of us. If I run into a source I will toss it out here. Maybe the government will hand out some of the million that they confiscated from that guy. I really hope there is more to tgat store than they just came and took them .

I had to go to Lowe's last weekend because I needed some hardware to repair the mower. I saw the same thing. Tons of people essentially buying landscape supplies. Mulching my plants is the last thing on my mind right now. And if I didn't want the mower secondarily as a means to haul stuff on the property, I would have probably just waited. Plus 1/2 or more of the people I saw were 50+.

Well you gotta know Carter County... Nothing there surprises me.

I work for a financial institution. Federal regulations put in after the Great Depression cover a lot of what can happen. If a location did not have enough to satisfy a withdrawal, we can pull from others, Worst case, we might even dip into the huge amount sitting around in or ATM machines, Believe me the Federal Government has printed PLENTY of cash to satisfy all the people that want it. We could make a call and have pretty much any amount we want in our hands in a couple days TOPS. Lots of those "checks" are actually going to be electronic transfers. Then a lot of people are going to buy what they want on a credit card and pay for it with a check or transfer. Unless things completely fall apart a lot of people will go right on with their habitual spending routines, Also, remember when a guy cashes his check and goes to the liquor store, that cash generally ends up back in the bank in a few days, I do keep cash around and recommend people do. Keep more that 20's though. I keep a large stack of $1 bills in my EDC pouch. If things go bad no one is making change period. Plus easier not to show off how much you have. Pull out a $20 then that $15 bag of beans just became $20. Hard to argue with the guy if you NEED that item. So when you get cash, get a decent mix. $1s, $5s, $10s, etc. I even like to keep a good stock of coins. If I had a hard time getting home from work and had to walk, I pass at least 10 outdoor vending machines. Not the best but if I had to have food or drink, it would help out until I could get home. I don't want to be the guy sitting in jail under arrest for breaking into vending machines when the apocalypse fully blooms. Plus if it all falls down then I could load shotgun shells with my change like Billy the Kid or Resident Evil. LOL At some point, if this slides far enough, cash will simply be good fire tinder or bad toilet paper. Rough times are like a playground for bad guys. Plus, those on the edge that keep away from trouble because they fear the consequences will have more of a tendency to cross that line. Spread law enforcement 5 times thinner than they already are and break-ins will be the least of what people do to each other.

Got the word that someone we know passed from Covid-19 today. Worked with my wife, but she had not been around him for a week before she started working at home and has been working from home for 2 weeks. Even more sobering when you have met the person.....

As several have said that water is there, but I would rather thing of that as last ditch options. One thoughtless push of a handle by a family member can empty that toilet tank. @monkeylizard I wish I was that close to a good source. Side effect of making sure I am not somewhere that can flood back when we bought the house.

@bud Great to hear! Honestly I don't get a ton of feedback on the site even though I can see traffic coming to it. Glad it helped. That is the whole reason for it. I got tired of only seeing "be ready for the Zombie Apocolypse in an underground bunker" type of planning discussed. Thanks. If anyone else is interested, this is the list Bud referenced. I finally broke down a year ago and put it where it can be directly seen. http://leveledsurvival.com/2019/03/10/the-list-i-thought-i-would-never-make/ I will look at those containers. I bought a couple 7 gallon ones a while back, but they don't stack and 7 gallons is a lot of weight. Around 58 lbs. Not something you want to move around a bunch. 5 gallon (40 lbs) might be a bit easier. Still have to figure out where I can get that stacked away from kids and animals, but not subjected to cold and heat.

Going in every day here.

So far, the number one thing I have learned is that I need to organize. That is my personal character flaw. I have had to pull together some of the stuff I have spread around and it has taken too long. Then again, some of it is spread out to keep the rest of the family from hassling me. At least I have the stuff already though. I started a very long post for this, but felt it was over doing it. I have been seriously studying emergency preparedness for years. I have a lot of ideas my family doesn't exactly go along with. I am not a "prepper" as the term is used usually now. I have shared it before here, but if anyone is interested I run a site dedicated to all levels of emergency preparedness. I'm not an expert, but I have had time to process a lot of ideas about this. http://leveledsurvival.com/ Anyone used these water bricks? Water Bricks

Coronavirus: The cure can’t be worse than the problem!

I know a huge company that only still has people at the office because their inbound connections cannot handle several thousand VPN connections at once to the main location. Issue is as much as what backbone providers will provide in this area as having the hardware to load balance. CenturyStink is impossible to get decent service from. Charter and Comcast are a bit better, but can't provide that kind of bandwith. I guess they could move upstream to Level 3, but not sure how much you need before they even talk to you. Fiber in this area is way behind unless you are in a new industrial park. -
Pretty cool. I have seen those around but never knew we had the inventor on the board.

So is said member still hanging around here?

Wow.. I know I have seen the Mag light kits and the freeze plug set ups. All those require drilling and such to make it anything more than a tube and plugs. I bet this is the same Chinese company that was making the glock full auto kits and shipping them. IIRR, ATF got all the shipping addresses for the orders and started arrests... I like to choose who I live with, not be assigned a cell and bunk. I would run screaming from the above link. BTW, buying adverts on Google is easy. Anyone can. IIn this case I doubt their admins even realize this is a bad idea. So just because it pops up does not make it good.

So where are you hunting?

May be like some of the national parks being "closed." No staff on site (TWRA?), so they don't want the activity.

85 cents? or $1.85? -
My employer knee-jerk ordered 30 new laptops to get people working at home apparently right after everyone else ordered laptops. We are still waiting. I am guessing by the time we get them, we will not need them. In the mean time, we are moving people between buildings to split departments so no one department can go down. Being a financial institution, if we close it has gotten hip deep in spinning chunks. Yet I am still working from the office even though I have a laptop to use (and can do most of my job remote) and I am in several categories of high risk. Especially since I only have 1 and 2/3 lungs...

Saw them in the 90s in Knoxville. Still one of the top concerts I have ever been to. Those guys have an energy in stage that is amazing.

I didn't say that was true, just that it is a idea being pushed around online. Just one of the many crazy ones.

Schools Providing Breakfast and Lunch to go for kids in many areas
Ronald_55 replied to Ronald_55's topic in General Chat
I remember my Mom's cousin who ran the high school cafeteria slipping certain kids brown bags of rolls to take home for the weekend. She knew how bad the families had it.
