I agree that we can't carry for every situation, otherwise we would all be humping a huge pack with a shotgun, sniper rifle, AR, and 3 sidearms. Plus 5000 rounds of ammo.....for each. Having anything is better than nothing and shot placement is everything. A .25ACP through the eye socket will kill someone/thing as easy as a 45-70. So if a Bengal Tiger jumps you in the grocery store, just use what you have, because no one plans for that.

I bought a Winchester 37a 12ga single shot. It refuses to cock the hammer when closed. Gratifying and frustration to work on. I think I know the issue, but there is no clear reason why it will not lock completely. I gotta stop buying broken guns. Lol I still have to test the Iver Johnson .32 S&W top break that I had to put the firing pin in.

I would love to get back to smithing. I took one day with a smith and was working on a forge. Things have gotten in the way though. Are you taking a group class? I had a hard time up here even finding a smith that would teach. They do have a local meet up once a month.

I just bought myself a 12 gauge Winchester 37a. It needs a little work but it'll be great for just playing around. I want to try out cut shells and a few things.
