Been a couple weeks for me. I hope to get out tomorrow unless I get to meet a guy to buy some ammo. I have a couple guns that I bought used that I need to put the first round through. Sad when I can't get out often enough for that. I usually shoot outside though and the weather limits me.

Oh do you have invisible friends like me?

I did it, but I promise I did not know what I was doing.

7-11 employee on smoke break, smokes a robber.
Ronald_55 replied to bubbiesdad's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
If I was her, I would give up smoking. The counter would have possible stopped the bullets if she had been behind it. Good for her that she was aware enough to get her gun clear and make the shots. Shows she has some training not to freeze up when getting shot at. This is the reason I never wanted to work night shift at a convenience store. In some cities you would be safer shipping out to Afghanistan. -
I believe that was intentional misdirection lol

Welcome. Glad to meet ya!

Hardest part for me is that the one that sleeps next to me is the one that thinks I am the craziest. lol

A good start is Scratch and take a look at Python. Does her school have a Lego First robotics team? My son loves it and they have to program the robots actions in a fairly simple drag and drop type program. The idea is not too far off from game programing at its base level.

Take a look at the issues of MagPi on the RaspberryPi website. They cover lots of project info. I have a v1 B. Also, SD card are cheap, don't limit yourself to one OS, get a few.

I doubt he thought...at least not with the head on his shoulders. I just wonder how he came up with a remote cabin in California. Seems to have been planning a while.

Spam can ammo - Do I need an opener????
Ronald_55 replied to Ronald_55's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Thanks for all the input guys. Turns out the guy got back in touch with me and has another tin plus an opener that I can buy. Considering it is 32.5 cents per round shipped, I'm grabbing it. -
I hate to say it, but from seeing previous cases like this, they better give her a pregnancy test. Also, I wonder why charges were not brought up originally. I mean firing him was right but kissing a 15yo should have landed him in jail most places. He is a figure of authority even if she is old enough to be "concenting"

The pretty obvious danger of taking in other people is that, even if they have skills, they might decide they can use your supplies better than you while you are sleeping. On the other side, if you have some trustworthy people the extra hands could really help to work with crops and animals. This will be important after the initial stages of a long term issue. The problem is finding these people before things go bad. Trust should be a very limited commodity after. Some of us that see the need to have plans in place do not live in a setting or with others that see the same thing. This makes it even harder because if things go bad either of the two may cause dangerous delays in putting plans into action. All the food, guns, and ammo in the world will not help if you can't get people in the car and moving if things happen fast and you are away from home. When making simple suggestions to better prepare, such as stocking up on more canned food, get you the "when are you putting on the tinfoil hat" stare, it is hard to plan for the bigger issues. Hopefully I never need to say "told you so". Either that or I need to move to that off-the-grid 10x10 cabin I have been thinking of. It might help me keep my sanity for a bunch of reasons.

Good catch. Lol

86,000 M1 Garand Rifles to return from the Philippines
Ronald_55 replied to Omega's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
That is one. How do you like it? I have visited Kettlefoot, but it is way too expensive for the little I get to shoot. It is nice though. I saw there is a Watagua, but I don't know anything about it. -
Can these people worry less about searching everyone for guns and focus on the idiots that decided it was a good idea to attack this guy. I love that the gun was like 1/2% of the story, but becomes the focus. I mean no one shot him, they beat the crap out of him, so can we just remove everyone's hands on the way into the zoo? I am guessing the real motive was that they were mad he did not loan them his phone.

Spam can ammo - Do I need an opener????
Ronald_55 replied to Ronald_55's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
So no wonder the $0.23 per I was seeing on gunbot.net seemed to be all out of stock. Though I do think gunbot is not updating like it used to. I will watch for some. -
I have always said that all else failing, let it go back wild. Maybe get someone to bush hog some of it twice a year to keep the saplings down. As far as the trees down, if your son-in-law can, just cut out as much as you have to to get access. That is unless you can get someone to come cut it up in exchange for the wood. I have never had luck at that though. As far as renting one of the doublewides out, just vet your renters well. Also, don't charge too cheap for it. Good people assume it is trashed and then you get people in that do trash it. Overall, enjoy it. I wish I had that much.

Well maybe I don't need my p38 can opener in my bag then. A good file would work. Sometime I just wonder what prompted a guy to think of this stuff. Thanks -
Spam can ammo - Do I need an opener????
Ronald_55 replied to Ronald_55's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Thanks. I will get it in hand and let you know. So are they rare enough now that I should just hold on to it and get some commercial ammo? This is my 1st Mosin, so never has to look for this ammo before. -
Does that mean you could give a guy a fall assistance block of steel?
-
They always find ways to make it harder. I have always heard that all constriuction loads are harder anyway

Thanks. I am in NE TN close to Johnson City. I was just afraid with my luck I would go boom banging on it. -
Got a good deal on the last tin of Bulgarian 7.62 x 54R that a guy had I just bought a Mosin Nagant off of. Only thing is that he did not have an opener. I can pick one up pretty cheap, but do I need it? I don't what to be prying this open with a crowbar but I doubt I will buy a lot of these cans. On another note. Anyone seen any good deals on the 7.62 x 54R? seems like several good deals have dried up suddenly. This is a pic of the one he had posted that had an opener.

Like the ammo...and the Viking. Looks like you must like video security systems.
