The real problem with coyote is that they are highly adaptable. So as we consumed native habitat, they adapted to the landscape. Hunting turned from native rodents and birds to the much easier porch food bowl, trash can, housecat, or lapdog. In fact life got a lot easier for the opportunistic scavenger. That is why their numbers are growing.

Yeah I was trying to finish mowing last night at dusk. I felt like a pin cushion.

They taught me that I should take a blanket when having a little fun with my girlfriend out in the hay field. There are places you do not want then to get.

Still does not explain how it makes it a better as a last resort. I see it catching and hanging on the opponents clothing. Though, I am biased that I like very little Spyderco makes.

Uhhhhh... I have no idea why the blade is shaped that way...

That reminds me. I have some of those somewhere. I bought it for the actual pond/spring that is on her property a few years ago before it filled the rest of the way in. Thanks I would love to have one of the propane powered traps. I here they are great.

I remember turning over a block of wood at our woodpile at about 6 or 7 that had a yellow jacket nest under it. By the time I made it to the house I had 30 stings and they had crawled into my clothes. My mom had to kill a dozen that were in my shorts and shirt and toss me into a soda bath. I don't even remember how I got through the barbed wire fence. Since that day, I nuke every nest I find. People used to say hornets were bad, but at least they hunt flies. That is a positive service.

Yep. Both my grandfathers had sheds where they kept feed. As long as the snakes and such left the hens alone, they said the more the merrier. Otherwise the mice carried the feed off quicker than you could buy it. Take a look at Australia where the transplanted rodents had no natural predetors. They over ran the place. It is like bats too. People are all scared of them, but they do a decent job at keeping the mosquitoes tolerable at my house. Since my neighbor let her pool become a scum pond I need the help.

Nice stuff, but I agree on the price. My family abuses the kitchen knives too much to drop that much on them. That is why my nice knives stay out of sight.
-
That is bad. Hopefully if someone shot it the others got away. Few people understand how some of these animals can be helpful to have around let alone fun to watch. I have seem people shoot things just because they were eating the cat food that was left out on the porch. If I could get a few foxes and larger snakes to hang around, my gopher and mole issue would be history. So far though no luck. All the snakes I see are garter snakes and they are way too small to help out.

Too bad I can only like this once......... I hate yellow jackets with a passion that few humans can achieve....

I had a (adult?) red fox show up in my back yard and hang around for a few hours a while back. I got worried at first since it was broad daylight and did not seem scared, but it never came close to the house. It lounged and played around like it was chasing some of the gophers in my yard. At that point I would have built it a house if it chose to stay and kill those dang things. I think they are beautiful and it had been years since I saw one. Some evidence suggests that the fox was kept as a pet companion by early people. even before the dog. I can see why when I watch them.

To save you some work in the future (if you do something like this again) there are boards like Freecycle and Trashnothing that you can post stuff free to give away. Then have people pick it up. As long as you are ok with people at your house. I gave away a pile of leftover gravel and form wood away that way. I also gave away some old furniture that way too. Sure beats trips to the dump. I bet there would be interest in river rock.

We used to see this when my Papaw had bees. Sometimes they would swarm and leave or sometimes he would go to someones house to cut a swarm out of a tree to bring to an empty hive. It used to be pretty common when bees were way more plentiful.

Wow. I shouldn't be surprised, but the stupidity... I was hoping he got bit. He does happen to know that killing a native species of snake is illegal in most states. And the "gang" symbol hand gesture at 39 sec. just cements how TOTALLY stupid this guy is. Just walk around the snake and keep going unless you are in a situation where you need a food source.

Nice, but I have a feeling the effect would wear off quick...unlike a 12ga slug. -
Most days I like opportunities to improve my income . That would be a painful story to explain in jail though. "I stole fake boulders"

A lot of strip malls and apartment complexes near me are using these to hide water or electrical boxes so that it is "more aesthetic" It is better than burying them where you have to dig them up.

We have enough trouble with electronics at dinner without the centerpiece chiming in. lol

Female cardinal banging on my window... how to stop?

Look up crow traps. They make kinds you can catch a bunch in at once. If you do, then you can dispose of, relocate, or cook them up. -
