  1. Yep it was. The 45 minute rendition of Whipping Post was killer. Those guys lived to perform and it showed.
  2. I saw the Allman Brothers play in Knoxville back in the 90's. Still one of the best concerts I have ever seen. Sad when we lose such groundbreaking true musicians.
  3. I was at work. We normally had no tv or radio and our internet was locked down. I did customer support and was alone in a room because the other guy that had as desk in there quit. I came off a call and noticed there was lots of hubbub on the other side of the hall. When I went over someone told me a plane hit the WTC. A guy had a tv he had brought in by coincidence to give to another guy. It got rigged up and we watched most of the rest of the day. I called my wife to see if she had seen and her work was at a stand still too. I was numb, the closest I had seen to this was watching Desert Storm on tv in high school class. It was unbelievable to see the tower collapse. I found out a little later that day a friend I had in our NC office had a niece in Manhattan at that moment. He left out to drive and get her since her parents were in OH. I understsnd that she was really lucky and was not in close proximity, but still took forever to get out so he could pick her up.
  4. I understand the money thing. I lived on ramen for years in school and during my first job. So having those free would make a big difference. I was 1/2 joking about them being so bad. And as you said, hot sauce helps anything. The real issue is that people think they last forever, but I think they really only have a 5 year shelf life (from memory, correct me if I am wrong). So if you did not rotate these out like the other food, it would end up being worthless. I keep a couple buckets of the long shelf life camping pouches around because I can store them in the garage. They are relatively pest proof and do not require a stable temp. I picked them up at a great deal, so the cost was very manageable. I also bought a few of the Coast Guard Emergency rations. They are not terribly light, but pack a lot of calories in a pack smaller than a coffee brick. That way I can keep a couple in car in case I need to make my way home on foot or get stranded somewhere I cannot walk out of. On top of that though, I do buy extra cans of things like beans and soups in case things get bad. These can be opened and eaten without cooking. Also, all the family will eat them. I try to keep rice and dried beans because they will last for a LONG time if you keep pests out of them. I hope I never end up needing 40 years of food stored up, but I like to make sure that I have plenty of time to devise a plan before having to look for more. Realistically, if something happened that kept us from growing food in the long term, 40 years is not going to be enough time to wait it out. How you prepare is all based on what you are preparing for. Do you prepare for nuclear war, a fast moving pandemic, zombies, EMP attack, solar flares, or a comet crashing into Earth. There is no way you can plan for it all.
  5. I always loved to see those queens come in when my Papaw ordered a new one.
  6. Are they edible in the first place? I don't really class them as food to begin with.
  7. At least the officer's muscle memory kicked in and he reloaded without a second thought. Sometimes even trained guys empty the mag and don't reload due to the stress and focus on the attacker.
  8. How often do you fall flat on your back working around tge house? Lol

  11. Thought about moving it around to small of the back and then slip it into a holster on the tractor when riding? A cowboy gun belt has upsides, but is a lot of extra weight and will get in the way when handling things too. So what kind of pests are you dealing with that a sharp stick would not handle?
  12. You always know someone has no idea when they spend most of the letter explaining how qualified they are......
  13. I already give you the win for calling her Heathen. Lol My son asked for a mohawk at 8 and kept his hair that way for a long while. He would spray in different colored hair spray depending on where he was going since my kids' school is super (stupid) strict on it. I kept my hair waist length until a job loss a few years ago caused me to cut it. Too many bills, I needed an equal job quick. I did not have time for the "you don't look professional" bs. Most of the time it kept it black...you know Black No. 1. I have met clean cut scumbags and tat'd and pierced hardworking, family guys and gals that would drive 500 miles to help you out. Maybe if we teach our kids to see uniqueness as a real plus, they will make the world a little better.
  14. Well I have one that has been cut down. Was my first rifle and given to me by my Papaw. Someone did some nice carvings in the stock. They are great guns. I suggest shooting it some and see if restoring it matters to you later.
  15. Sounds like you need a basement to convert into an armory. Or just sell me the 3 so you don't have to worry. Lol I wish I had seen that AR. Where were you shopping?
  16. Then what will SHE use. Lol maybe club them with high heels?
  17. I am all up for that....unless it comes with a deployment.....
  18. That is why you build it like Johnny Cash. Get one piece at a time. Call it a spare part.
  19. Tell her when the zombies come, she will be glad you prepared.
  20. Nice. I have been meaning to get a .308 bolt gun. I have other caliber bolt guns. I think you will enjoy it. Much different than a semi, in a good way.
  21. Time to buy a second safe. Lol
  22. My kids' middle school bans any "non-natural" hair color. Of course all that platinum blonde is natural that the girls have...sure, right.
  23. Just remind her mom that it is not permanent and much cheaper than other rewards. Also, that helping your daughter to define herself prevents others from having negative influence. Congrats to her on the wins.
  24. Hey guys, my Dad would like to come down and fish, but does not have a boat. Can you bank fish this area?
  25. A soldering iron and desoldering bulb might do it, but might take some time. You could control where the heat is better that way though.
