  1. I went thru a few man purses, Versipacks were pretty good but just too small for me...I finally ended up with a Maxpedition Malaga Gearslinger, Maxpedition Malaga Gearslinger Shoulder Sling Tactical Messenger Gear Bag - MAXPEDITION HARD-USE GEAR Tactical Nylon Gear for Military, Law Enforcement, Tactical Concealed Carry; Tailored to Perform Tactical that works well for me. It has a single padded back strap that can be worn diagonally across the shoulder or just over one shoulder for shorter trips...holds a BUG or two, spare mags/ammo, knives, spare glasses, pens, paper, water bottles, multi-tools, can opener, matches, my pipes and my nook, lol, along wioth some spare chargers for my electronics. ..I couldn't care less what people think of me carrying it, EXCEPT I hate that it looks military enough that perhaps some would make me for being armed. Only one Ive seen that I might consider over this one is possible one of Maxpeditions tactical attaches.
  2. Its funny how one guy, in the right place, at the right time, can truly change the world.
  3. Funny how things change. i grew up in Hamilton County and I remember seeing those old black & whites all over the place. I lived in Soddy-Daisy and Hixson and as I remember, they were the only LEOs around outside of Chattanooga and Red Bank, until Soddy-Daisy incorporated and got their own police force.
  4. Although I agree with him wholeheartedly, I wonder if this will prompt his resignation? I fail to understand how the racists in this country have to make everything about race. Most of our prisons have a racial mix that is not consistent with our racial mix as a whole. Wonder why this is? Could it be that the racial mix that commits crimes is slanted in that direction? Hmmm...No, surely not. There MUST be some undertying racist factor that causes these poor downtrodden criminals, er, I mean people, to go wrong. Must be the SYSTEM! Yeah, thats it, its the racist system! I read about and see the gang violence in major cities and I can't help but wonder why we don't simply go to war on them. Just eradicate them. Edited to add that I am NOT a racist, but I am a realist. No need to sugarcoat things, but let the facts speak for themselves.
  5. I saw a flashlight I liked at the Hendersonville Gun HSow yesterday. It was made somewhere n the far east, seem s like the name was Chen something...anyway, it was roughly the size I liked and had an adjustable beam, came with a car charger and a wall charger , one long lithium Cree battery like the one in Rightwinger's picture here, and also had a strobe and was 180 lumens, the lady said. They wanted 35 for it, and i was tempted. Great price. But after reading this thread I was so hesitant that I ended up not buying. I could take a $35 risk on something that just wore out too quick or whatever, but I am afraid to deal with something that may explode or catch fire even. Thanks, Rightwinger! I guess I will keep looking for a surefire or some other big name manufacturer.
  6. I am looking for a holster for my Scorpion. It is a full size 1911 with a rail, and as you may know, most of the Sig 1911s have a more squared off slide top than traditional 1911s. This can affect holster fit in some cases. I have a Crossbreed Supertuck IWB holster that it fits, but that carry style doesnt always work for me. Oddly my other Sig, a 1911 Carry model fits in that holster just fine too and it doesnt have a rail. I have a OWB Don Hume leather holster that fits the Sig Carry quite nicely, but the Scorpion wont even go inside it at all, because of the rail. In the past, for other guns, I have been assured by salesmen that thi holster or that holster WILL fit this or that gun and then it didnt fit enough times, that I despise ordering online. I prefer to actually test the fit before buying. The style I am looking for is OWB, preferably leather, not kydex, open top, not with a strap or snap, and i prefer the holster to cover the bottom of the gun so nothing sticks out, and also for it to have a piece that goes between the upper part and my skin. My current Don Hume has that, but like I said, it wont fit. Anyone have any ideas? I'm almost ready to take the Scorpion to a custom holster maker.
  7. Yeah I wanna pick up a box just to keep as a novelty item...I imagine they wont make it for a long time, and if the zombie apocoaypse does NOT happen, it could be worth something someday, lol.
  8. Go to D & T Arms on Rivergate Pkway. They had them on the shelf today when I was in there.
  9. What he said, lol.
  10. Went and was very disappointed! That show venue has such promise...too bad they are not doing well with it. It started out good last year, but then they had some advertising isses and attendance dropped, then the vendors dropped in response to a disappointing crowd....I doubt they even filled half of the space they have, and many of the venbdors were other than gun related, heck, evem Sam's Club had a booth, lol. I did get to play with a Remington R-1 Enhanced. Had already looked at a regular R-1, but this Enhanced was awesome. But the price was also awesome, lmao, more than I wanna pay anyway. t has some cool grips, a different trigger than the regular an d fiber optic front sites.
  11. Id like one too if available please. Thank you.
  12. Serves more than one purpose, actually, but I agree that some of them are so bright and distracting that they may actually CAUSE safety issues. The other night I was on the interstate when one was pulled over on the side...traffic was so heavy that I couldn't immediately change lanes, and I was so blinded by the lights that it impaired my ability to see. THATS too much. Theres gotta be a point of diminishing returns on this issue...
  13. I'll be there Saturday morning.
  14. My personal favorite defense gun has always been a Beretta Jetfire in 22 short. Over all the years I've been hiking I never leave without it in my pocket. Of course we all know too the first rule when hiking in the wilderness is to use the "Buddy System". For those of you who may be unfamiliar with this it means you NEVER hike alone, you bring a friend or companion, even an in-law, that way if something happens there is someone to go get help. I remember one time hiking with my brother-in-law on Raspberry Island near Kodiak .. Out of nowhere came this huge brown bear and man was she mad.. We must have been near one of her cubs. Anyway, if I had not had my little Jetfire I'd sure not be here today. Just one shot to my brother-in-law's knee cap and I was able to escape by just walking at a brisk pace. That's one of the best pistols in my safe.
  15. Me too! I need to get one before the skinny folks buy them all up.
  16. IMHO, Fatman is easy...its a given that when he hits me we both die...by vaporizing him, one of us will live...let one innocent live rather than 2 innocents die. Thin man is different, morally, but in the end, the only difference I can see is what are the odds he will hit me...but I would probably vaporize him too, my life is more valuable to me than his is to me. In a different line of work than I am now, I obviosuly felt somewhat differently in that I was prepared to lay down my life for others...as a cop and also as a military man.

    Keltec PMR30

Didn't know they made a .22LR conversion for it...dunno if I want one of those or not. Guess it depends on how easy it is to swap out maybe. I DO want the RMR-30 though. Especially if it uses the same magazines as my PMR 30. That would be fun I think, lol. I'm still waiting for the KSGs to come in lol.
  18. What is/are the difference between the Talo and the others?
  19. Really not wanting to argue here, but how did THAT prove your point? Too many people did NOT vote for the lesser of the two evils in that election. I know way too many people who disliked McCain as much or more than I, and refused to vote for him. In situations like that and what we face next time, THAT will get the Obamas elected. Now in Primaries, I agree with voting your heart, but I fail to see how taking a vote away from the GOP nominee will do anything other than aid the the other side. Again, I point to the last time an Independent had a huge following. Look what happened then. Were we better off having Clinton for 8 years or is it just possible that 4 more years of George Bush the 1st might have been preferable?
  20. So whats your solution? Vote for an unelectable person out of some kind of principle?
  21. I agree that it seems like most all of them, local and national, are way too liberal for our needs. However, I also agree with you that change has to come from within the party. Like it or not, we have a 2 party system, and anytime we have a strong 3rd party candidate, all it seems to do is swing the election to the Democrats, i.e. look at what happened when Perot ran a while back. For those of you too young to remember, what happened was Perot ran as an Independent, garnered a very strong following from conservative Repubs and Indies who usually voted Repub...and essentially threw the election to Clinton. I was a Perot supporter myself. That was a real eye opener for me. Now last year the Tea Party, when it looked like it might evolve into a real political party, MAY have worked...but the Repubs were able to squash that from happening. At this point, nationally I'm a ABO (Anybody But Obama) kind of guy...and will vite for whichever GOP candidate wins the nomination becasue he will be the lesser of the 2 evils in my book...Great choice? Of course not, but the only viable one I think. Those that stick to their ideals and vote for the third party candidate or a write in have every right to do just that, but they should also understand that they are essentially helping the liberals stay in power. If they do stay in power, watch out! You think you've seen change so far? Just wait. I heard one of Obama's speeches on TV yesterday where he plain out stated that if you think you've seen change so far, then if you'll work harder to re-elect him than you worked to elect him, he will show you real change!~ Alexander and Corker both are too liberal for me. But Id rather have them than a more liberal democrat. Look at Cooper for example. The only times he doesnt vote the party line is when its a sure bet and they dont need his vote. THEN, he votes fiscally conservatively.
  22. They would be calling for impeachment!
  23. I e-mailed Sen Joe Haynes and Rep Gary Moore and just now received a reply from Rep moore. Here is what he said: Thank you for your e-mail. I support this, and will go a step further and say that I support any certified carry permit holder to be allowed to carry anywhere they choose. Rep. Gary W. Moore Bravo, Rep Moore!!!!!
  24. ...or at least we did pre-Obama...what was it ? $1.79 a gallon then? And now well over $3.00 a gallon? How's that hope and change working out for ya?
  25. John Greer has a nice ring to it!
