AR Pistol

Notice to Moderators: This is NOT a lame attempt to circumvent the Benefactor rules. I'm an honorable man, and abide by the rules. With my daughters birthday and Christmas coming up, I'm literally months away from even trying to make a purchase, and am not even sure yet that I will be then. I have been thinking a lot lately about an AR pistol. I've looked at the Keltec PLR-16 and similar styles, as well as the ones that have the buffer tubes. If one could only have one AR, I'm kinda thinking that a pistol with the tube might be the way to go. I know that distance and possible accuracy after a certain distance would decrease, but Ive got other rifles for distance shooting and just kinda like the size of the pistols. The tube could be used as a makeshift stock if needed and the overall size might help with concealability if that ever became an issue. I only have one AR at present. I'm interested in hearing others thoughts on this. Thanks for any input!
2. I liked the show. Only thing I bought was a used holster(5 bucks) that will fit a couple guns I have. But it was a nice way to spend a Saturday morning. Had breakfast at Fast Freddies (Cant beat it) with a couple old friends, then we went to the show. Living in Goodlettsville, this one is so much closer, but there's also something about this show that seems...not sure, nicer somehow? I know that probably makes no sense, but it just seems more homier somehow, Although I go to Bill Goodmans at the fairgrounds, I like this one much better. I'd like to see it grow into the extra space it has. Oh, one of my friends picked up a Keltec SUC16B that he had been looking for.
3.
I know I don’t need to explain myself and not really sure it matters to some of you why I did what I did but here goes. First off let me start by saying that we are a family oriented site and do our best to maintain that image. And sometimes in order to maintain that image some posts do need to be edited or deleted. It happens regularly and 99% of the time it goes unnoticed by the members here. As far as why I deleted the link it was not emotion driven, at least not when I deleted it. Yes, as the thread dragged on I did get a bit emotional about it just like many other members here. And just because I am a moderator here does not mean I have to or that I even need to turn off my emotions and become a moderating zombie of sorts. Anyone who has come to me with a problem knows I have a true concern for them and their problems. Without any emotion, as some of you have suggested I should be, I would not be able to do that. I truly am concerned for everyone on this board like any family. Remember that care, concern and compassion are emotions just like disgust is an emotion. For me the link was not a gun or 2[sup]nd[/sup] amendment issue even though it morphed into that. Anyone who knows me knows I am pro gun. Again, for me the link was not a gun rights issue but a domestic violence issue. When it was posted and I first saw it I had two options. Leave it or remove it. Trust me when I say I struggled with it for a bit. Then I realized there really isn’t a gray area when it comes to domestic violence or the abusers themselves. If I were to leave it up then by inference anyone who might come and visit this board might see me, as well as the board, as supporting domestic violence and the damage it does. Remember, people are not going to see the petition as a gun rights issue but as a domestic violence issue. They might also view the members here who didn’t speak out against it as supporting domestic violence in some way. And I, for one, do not want to be associated with or be accused of supporting anything related to domestic violence. Now on the other hand if I removed the link this is what would happen. It prevents anyone who might come and visit the site from ever questioning the stance the board has on domestic violence. And by deleting it that would also show it how we, as the TGO family, feel about domestic violence. So for me I felt that by leaving it up nothing good could come of it. Remember this is not a gun issue but a domestic violence issue. Domestic violence is a violent crime that has serious, long term emotional and sometimes physical effects on the victims. It affects their self esteem, self worth, confidence but most importantly it also affects those who are most likely to witness it, the children. Children mimic what they see and will grow up to do the same thing their parents have taught them. This only perpetuates the domestic violence problem. And I would hope we all agree that domestic violence is heinous and uncalled for under any circumstance. And we all should distance ourselves from anything that can be viewed as a pro domestic violence stance. Remember, a person with ONE post came on here with an agenda. He was either trying to garner support for his own, individual situation that we have no clue about or he was just trolling to create turmoil amongst our TGO family. Either way it seems like a complete stranger has been successful on one or both counts. I do not hold grudges, I do not hate and I try to treat everyone here equally. Besides my memory is so bad that I wouldn’t be able to remember who I have a grudge against and who I don’t so I just don’t hold a grudge. Those that reported me I am not upset or out to get you. I welcome anyone who feels there is a problem with the board to hit the report button so we can address it, not just for you but for everyone. I just needed to get this out there for people to see my reasoning. Please do not turn this into the same discussion as the previous thread, that is not why I posted this. Dolomite
Explanations, while not officially necessary, really DO help us understand and I for one always appreciate them.

6. I cant help but admire the Israelis. I remember back in the 90's they managed to get a cell phone into the hands of a Hama terrorist they wanted...once they were sure he had it, they called him and asked if this was so and so, when he replied that it was, they detonated the bomb. Can you imagine how involved it must have been to get that device into his hands? Then another memorable one, amongst many, was the one a couple years ago where there was this one terrorist who had hidden inside a compound with civilians for over 2 years! Then on the first day he ventured out, in a car, he had not gotten very far down the road when his car blew up from an airstrike.
7. I've never had a Bluetooth in the ear type that I liked. Now I have a Motorola headset that is over the head type and looks more like a music headset. It works pretty good for music listening and when a call comes in it switches to phone use automatically. Overall, pretty good since I don't like the in your ear types.
8. Reminds me of a sign I saw for sale at the gun show yesterday...was a sign graphic of a couple cops beating and kicking a person, and the print said : Police: Serving and protecting the #### out of you. Or something similar...was funny.
9. I like Morris and hope he's right this time. But I remember seeing him on O'reilly when he said Clinton was gonna beat Obama!
10. Here's a very interesting thread on a different forum: http://chat.anncoulter.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=118450&p=2701814
11. My daughter is a typical zombie movie liking teenager, lol. We were watching this show last night and I noticed something...at one point one of the characters was telling the 'prisoners' that "we are all infected...all survivors are infected. When we die we all will come back as one of them" If so, then why all the concern about being bitten?
12. Wow! If this is about 287g issues, how did I miss that? I read the language in Amendment 3 and decidd to vote for it, without even thinking along the lines of 287g. If I had known that, not only would iI have voted the same way I did, lol, I would have more strongly encouraged all my friends to do so as well. Enforcement of immigration laws MUST be done by all law enforcement types since our Federal government seems unwilling to do so.
13. Ive worked with the Secret Service several times. Reagan at Homestead AFB in Miami in the early 80's, and Clinton several times at Ramstein Air Base in Germany in the early 90's. The ones I dealt with were very professional all the way! Worked more closely with them in Germany since I had a little more rank and a higher job in my unit. I was very surprised at the level of planning and preparation involved. Planning started months out and involved several Secret Service ADVON team visits. They surveyed every place that had line of sight to the places the President would be, including routes to Landstuhl Army Regional Medical Center which is nearby. The closer it got to the actual visit date, the more agents and equipment arrived at Ramstein, including those armored Suburbans which came in on C-5s. They didnt even fully trust us with long guns in his vicinity. Sidearms were ok, but we had to keep long guns away except for our sniper teams which were co-located with their teams in strategic places. Must have been horribly expensive and sometimes we went through all that trouble and expense and the visits were sometimes cancelled at the last minute!
14. Look at the race riots over something as inconsequential as the Rodney King ruling...and while it's true that most of the rioters ruined their own neighborhoods, they still hurt a lot of innocent people. For something as important as losing the Presidency, I'd expect worse and more widespread rioting. Its such a shame that our first black President had to be Obama. There were a lot of others that would have made a fine President. Thomas Sowell for one, though he didnt run, Alan West, Herman Cain, Alan Keyes, any of these would have been good. I think many people will take the opportunity in a riot to just pillage burn and steal. Nashville may have it's own problems too. On a more positive note for black Nashvillians,. Have y'all listened to Carl Boyd on 99.7 on Sunday afternoons? Quite refreshing to hear a local black conservative, and when he talks about Obama, I am so happy to hear the truth!
15. I heard he was gonna change the words to "Born In The USA", to "NOT Born in The USA".
16. I hope youre right.
17. I can see our country fracturing into a number of nation states, tightly aligned but having separate governments...many cities end up like Detroit, DC, Chicago, LA, etc and shunned by the rest of the nation.
18. OK. I can at least pronounce TEOTWAWKI, lol, how do we pronounce THIS one?
19. What about the Keltec PLR-16? That one has no buffer tube at all. Is it piston driven? Personally, I really like the one with the foam padded buffer tube like the RRA one I saw. Seems like it would function a lot like a SBR.
20. Betcha some departments have less stringent courses of fire too!
21. Maybe we should apologize again. That will surely help. Those peace loving gentle folks in the mideast just love some Obama apologies. I bet they will start really liking us if we just apologize again...yeah, that sounds like a plan. (Sarcasm, for those that don't know me)
22. I'd bet a dollar to a donut that his security detail was routinely insufficient to meet the threat. There is too much concern by politicians about how things "appear", and that interferes with opsec. Probably they were afraid that adequate security would "offend" the host nation...and that's a crock. Those people perceive much as weakness, whether it IS weakness or not. They understand strength. There's a legend, and I dont know if its true or not, but it could be. From Wikipedia: "in October 1985, Alpha Group( a KGB Group with a Spetsnaz team attached) would be dispatched to Beirut, Lebanon after the Kremlin was informed that four Soviet diplomats had been taken hostage by a Sunni extremist group. By the time Alpha was on-site, word had spread that one of the hostages had already been killed. Through a network of supporting KGB operatives, members of the task-force were able to successfully identify each of the perpetrators involved in the crisis, and once discovered, began to take the individual relatives of the extremists hostage. Following the standard Soviet policy of "no negotiation with terrorists," the hostages belonging to Alpha Group had some of their body parts cut off and sent directly to the Sunni militants. The warning was quite clear: more would follow unless the remaining hostages were released immediately. The show of force worked, and for a period of 20 years[4] no Soviet or Russian officials were taken captive until the 2006 abduction and murder of four Russian embassy staff members in Iraq." How many did we lose in that same 20 years? And continue to lose. Brute force is what they understand. And yes I think we should fully support Israel. I was trying to count up the numbers of times that Jews and Cristians have killed Americans with Government or religious leader endorsement, and you know what? I cant remember many at all...oddly enough. Now contrast that with the number of Islamist killings of Americans, both here and abroad, and is your number slightly higher? Its time to wake up. I read a statement that I liked, and although it may not be 100% true, I like it. It said that " Not all Muslims are terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslims." I hope Israel strikes, very soon and very hard. I hope they do not wait until after the elections as Obama wants. He wants that because he wiull not support them after the election, despite his support by American Jews. He could possibly lose their support and the support of other Americans and lose votes if They attack and he doesnt support Israel before the election.
23. Im sorry if my answer wasn't correct or caused any confusion. I was basing it on a Q&A on the ATF's web page: http://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/national-firearms-act-firearms.html#necessary-le-certifications Q: What law enforcement officials’ certifications on an application to transfer or make an NFA weapon are acceptable to ATF? As provided by regulations, certifications by the local chief of police, sheriff of the county, head of the State police, or State or local district attorney or prosecutor are acceptable. The regulations also provide that certifications of other officials are appropriate if found in a particular case to be acceptable to the Director. Examples of other officials who have been accepted in specific situations include State attorneys general and judges of State courts having authority to conduct jury trials in felony cases. [27 CFR 479.63 and 479.85] The language used on their site leads me to believe that it really dosn't matter whether it be county or city as long as he/she's the CLEO of that entity. But Im certainly no expert.
24. You guys must be racists. Oh yeah, also, it's George Bush's fault! (Hey, I'm kidding!)
25. I believe if you live inside a city, then you go to the cities PD chief, if in the county outside city limits, then the Sheriff.
