I like waze also, but it's upto users to make it work good! It was Israeli developed but I think Google bought it a couple years ago.

Saw something like this at the gun show once. Thought it wa a nifty idea. It attaches to the outside side wall of your gun safe so when rearranging or whatever, you have somewhere to lean a few guns. I thought about making something like this on my own, but never got around to it. http://www.amazon.com/Real-Avid-Mag-Rack-Portable-Magnetic/dp/B0055KW62U

Sorry for your loss. I lost my best friend the same way this past Christmas. He was a Vietnam and Gulf War veteran.

I was Federal. LEOSA requires a police approved firearms qual from the state of residence, issued by the state of residence. I have NOT made this happen yet, just got thevLEOSA credential do far, still gotta go thru the hoops for this state yet for the range qual card.

I've just finally got my LEOSA credential from the agency I retired from. While researching how to get firearms qualified in accordance with the law, I find that there are several places I can do that, however, to get the firearms qualification card form the State of Tennessee, they make one jump through even MORE hoops. The POST guy I talked to was very discouraging and recommended that I not do it, but instead just use my TN HCP. Apparently, I have to go through the Tennessee POST commission, and they seem to not be following the law as established under LEOSA. As I understand the law, and I have read it many times as well as discussing it with experts in other states, the criteria for authorizing handgun carry under LEOSA rests with the agency one retires from. They do the fingerprints, the FBI background check, verify your law enforcement retirement in good standing, etc, and then issue the credential. The credential alone, however, does not permit one to start carrying. One must then maintain an annual law enforcement firearms qualification in the state of residence and be in possession of a properly issued, valid LEOSA credential. TN POST requires one to go through the fingerprint background check yet again, submit another application through TN and pay a another fee, in addition to whatever fingerprinter and the range charges. They also require a copy of the credential. The guy at the POST commission told me, and the application they sent me says there are two separate levels of the TN authorization. One only requires a qualification every 4 years, is valid in TN only and not LEOSA compliant for all states. The second one requires annual qualification and is LEOSA compliant in all states. Another problem appears to be that they want a signed letter form the Agency with the information that is already on my credential, which is signed by the agency. It seems to me that TN is not only non-compliant with Federal law, but is also throwing up discouraging obstacles to keep qualified retired law enforcement officers from legally carrying under LEOSA. I'vr talked to others in other states, and everyone seems to think that I am right in this and that TN is con-compliant, but they also said nothing will likely change until someone sues TN for this. Im not inclined to do that. Has anyone had any experience with this? Can anyone make any recommendations? One of the reasons I wanted the LEOSA compliuant credential and authorization to carry was in case I went to a state that does not have HCP reciprocity with TN, I would still be able to carry my handgun. Although I dont travel outside this state much, one never knows. In reading LEOSA, all that TN should do is insure that the annual firearms qualification i take is TN POST certified and issue a range qualification card, period. What say y'all? Any advice? Also would welcome any legal opinions from the legal eagles on here.

Speaking of the brace, does anyone know where I could find one at a good price? Maybe on sale somewhere? Also, are there other manufacturers?

I picked up this gun a year or so ago. It has shot just fine and I have carried it both as a backup to my EDC as well as sometimes in certain situations when wearing certain clothing, its been my EDC. Lately, it has developed magazine issues. I carry it in a pocket holster. Frequently the magazine will pop out on its own. At first I thought it was because of getting jostled in my pocket that the magazine release button was being inadvertently pushed in as its in a soft holster. Then I tried a new mag and the problem was solved...for a little bit, then started having the same problem with that one too. Now its all my mags. And the problem is worse too, now the mag will pop out at he slightest touch or jostle. Its to the point that I cant trust it anymore, and am contemplating sending it back to S&W for repairs. Any idea a( what causes this, and b) how it can be fixed, preferably without sending it back to the manufacturer?

Think Bond's Walther was in .32ACP, wasnt it?

PM sent! -
When I was a cop, we called badges shields. So when I first read your post, first thing I thought was oh no, a HCP holder with one of those badges! Lol. Then I realized you were talking about a S&W Shield! I agree with you. The guy was probably trying to be helpful, but maybe should mind his own business.

Other than voting for Carr, i have no clue who to vote for in this primary. Wish there was a way to find out more about the judges without months of research.

Yeah, dunno how to fix that. ANyway, it is a Sig Sauer P516G2-7B pistol. Gas piston, 7.5 in barrel. Havent shot it yet, but will soon! Its my newest favorite gun!

Good SHTF Survival Fiction Books

Lots of good info n here for ones who like to read this genre...but hard to keep track of..wonder if it would be possible to have a sticky (I think thats what it's called) on this thread with an updateable master list? Then one could see all the books without having to read every thread. Once one decides to check into a particular book, you could then do a search for the title and rad reviews...good idea, or not? -
Something big is getting ready to kick off

lol, this reminded me of when I was in Germany one time during REFORGER, a couple of Army warrants got in trouble for landing their chopper in a local McDonalds parking lot, cuz they wanted a burger! -
Not sure if there are any other USAF SF types here, but I thought this was a cool pic!

OP: Glad you had a good experience. I normally hate car dealerships, but recently bought a good used vehicle, since I very rarely buy a new one. I had heard good things about Carmax, so I went to the one in Rivergate. Great experience al the way around. They offered me peanuts (but probably a fair price) on my old car, so I just kept it, No haggle price, great car (2011 Ford Escape) and an all around pleasant experience.I did my research before on car prices, and they were as good or better than any other dealer. The salesman was friendly, respectful and guided me (based on my desires) with no pressure to buy this or that car. Id go there again.

A great book I read a few years ago was: Stolen Valor : How the Vietnam Generation Was Robbed of Its Heroes and Its History, by B.G. Burkett and Glenna Whitley. http://www.amazon.com/Stolen-Valor-Vietnam-Generation-History/dp/096670360X You would be surprised at how many of these guys pass as heroes, and also at how high they can rise in organizations...one poser in this book was a high official in the american Legion or VFW in the Texas Chapter...like Commander or something, and he wasnt even a veterans. Another was drawing VA service connected disability, and wasn't a veteran! The book went a long way to help pass the Stolen Valor Act, making some of these things criminal. Seems like a court gutted the law though, later on..

I'm surprised someone didnt whip that butt, lol!
