  1. Hornady Critical Defense and Federal Premium HST, in my XD-E, and am kinda testing Hornady Critical Duty in my full size 1911 and FNP-45
  2. Yes, dang autocorrect, lol. SO he shouldnt be allowed to carry at least until and if its expunged...
  3. As I understand LEOSA, he shouldnt, as a convicted felon, be allowed to carry a gun. Once that engagement takes place, then of course, things change, but until then, LEOSA carry must also not be a prohibited person under state laws. Am I not right in this?
  4. I agree.
  5. Welcome, Mike!
  6. I like it, Its a little over the top sometimes, and obviously they dont have a walking dead type budget, but i like it,.+
  7. I wish the law would require a formal certification of the animal and also a permit or license of some kind that had to be shown when asked by the business owner upon whos property the person travels.
  8. Not an expert, but I had to learn a little about ADA and service animals a while back, and was quite surprised at the lack of regulation. While Dolomite_supafly is correct that emotional support is not a valid function of a service animal, there are some qualifying reasons that are related to mental disabilities, like PTSD. And, sadly strict limitations as to requiring any documentation (none required) and also limitations as to what one can even ask the person with the alleged service animal...specifically, one can ask if the animal is required because of a disability, and also what work or task is the dog trained to perform. I am disabled in that i am not physically able to protect myself from bad guys with guns, so I need an ADA accommodation to be armed by my service gun to perform that task for me. So can I carry beyond posted areas because of the ADA? :-)
  9. Dunno the answer, but I\m envious! I went to the one in Nashville a while back and i stayed most all day...wanted to go more than one day but couldn't with my schedule. One day doesn't do it justice. I attended no meetings or seminars, just visited the vendor areas and was absolutely overwhelmed. I got there early not long after doors opened so I got to a few before the crowds but once it got crowded it was hard to move. You've definitely got the right idea by trying to do it on other than peak days! Let us know how that works out. If they ever have another one fairly near me, I will go again. Good luck with it.
  10. Just listened to it...I like it. One of the things i like most about it is that I can listen when I want to, not just the time it airs. and of course the professional job in content and editing as well, of course.
  11. Hate to get into an argument over bumpstocks, when I don’t even want one...and although I obviously disagree with you, I’ll refrain from calling your opinion ‘ridiculous’, but I feel fairly certain that the atf could have easily prohibited bumpstocks, yet did not. Also your point (More people would probably be alive today if the shooter in Vegas hadn’t had access to them) suggests that volume is the issue, not the murdering. So maybe we should have restricted the idiots to knives, that would cut down on the numbers significantly. If there were such a thing as a handbook for gun control, there would be a chapter entitled, Small Steps, and how hey lead to big steps.
  12. I just said almost the exact thing to my wife last night.
  13. I agree with you. I have zero interest in a bump stock personally, what with the costs of ammo, lately, but its a step in the wrong direction. Once you start down that road, its hard to keep from going full steam ahead...
  14. I got one last week. Finally got tired of the weight of my FNP-45 with 31 rounds pulling me down all day, lol, and got this one, with half the rounds, but still ,45ACP, and not quite half the weight. I've practiced carrying it on it on my belt and although there are lighter guns, not many lighter in .45acp. Couldnt get to the range this weekend but plan to next weekend. I really prefer an exposed hammer fired handgun as opposed to concealed or striker fired. just a quirk of mine.
  15. I keep hearing good things about the XD line. I just picked up a new XDE-45. I had been carrying a full size FNP-45 with 16 rounds and finally the weight got to me, lol, so i wanted to downsize. Plan on shooting it this weekend but so far I love the gun. Love the front fiber optic. Not sure why, but I dont like striker fired guns...May be a little bit of the traditionalist in me coming out, but I prefer hammer fired.
  16. Thanks, DaveTN! Do you how the "list of firearms qualified on" works? Some of my friends in other, more LEOSA friendly states, interpret that to mean pistol;, i.e. my dept uses the Beretta 9mm 92, but in those states I'm talking about, any semiauto is ok as long as you qualify on a semi auto pistol, and you dont have to only carry the one you qualify on. What does TN say?
  17. Anyone recently get LEOSA carry for retired LEOs? The State of Tennessee, while not not honoring this, seems to discourage this, in my experience. A while back when I inquired about this they tried to get me to go a different route that wouldn't be honored nationwide, only in TN, but it was cheaper and lasted longer, if I recall. Any comments?
  18. I kinda think 'single projectile' might be key words here...just sayin'
  19. Just heard oin Fox news that the matter has been referred to TBI for investigation into criminal wrongdoing. I have already forgave her for violating the public trust in her judgement (flawed). Now she can resign.
  20. You know, I KNEW that, but sometimes i start hoping for the best...like when I first read about the act you mentioned...I think Montana and maybe Texas did something similar a while back. Seems like I remember the ATF sending out letters to TN FFL holders at the time, warning them that Federal law supersedes TN law or something like that. Thanks, man, I appreciate your knowledge in this.
  21. I like sigs, have several and would consider this one as well, but like you, Id like more info...
  22. Not wanting to hijack the thread, Oh Shoot, but does this apply on federal property like the post office parking lot? i.e. HCP permit holders can leave a firearm in locked vehicle while running into the post office to buy stamps or not?
