  1. I use Ring doorbell cams on my front and side doors, they cover those areas well and the motion detection is adjustable in different ranges and directions or zones. Drawback on mine is having to charge the batteries every few weeks or so. I also use Belkin and wyze inside cams aimed outside the windows to cover the other approaches to my house. Ring now offers solar chargers for their outside cams.
  2. One down side is that I had bought several 12 round mags for my 365, and i discovered that they do not fit the 365XL becasue of the butt plate being made to fit the 365 better...hard to explain. BUT, sig now has the replacement flush fit butt plates on their web site so i ordered some of those and will swap them out soon. I guess I really need to sell one or both of the 365s now...
  3. I saw on the news that the cook guy who threatened to shoot up the Marriott Hotel had an 'arsenal', and hundreds of rounds of ammo. Hmmm. The picture they showed looked like 2 or 3 long guns and 2-or 3 pistols. Thats an arsenal? Not saying he couldnt do a lot of damage with that, heck it just takes one gun and some ammo to do a lot of damage. Wonder what the news media would think of some or the collections of guns belonging to people on here, lol. I had more guns than that and plenty of ammo for each caliber before they were all tragically lost in that boating accident in the lake...
  4. My experience with gun grabbers is that they entice you with compromise on what they cal 'reasonable', then you compromise, and they keep pushing and taking. They dont want us to have guns period. Everything is a step towards that for them. I dont care one bit about bumpstocks, but that was a step...
  5. Now that could prove to be a smart move!
  6. Its only a matter of time i reckon. The ARs I have are ones I want to keep. Wish Id held on to the ones I sold but I am not going to invest now in something to sell later. I do want to 'thin the herd' a bit, though, on other guns, both long guns and pistols, but like i said no ARs. Ill probably hold off for a little bit as i dont want to lose money. Seems like used guns are at bargain basement prices right now. Not looking to profit, but dont want to go backwards either.
  7. I agree with you. I do. But the damn ATF makes it confusing as hell for people who KNOW about guns, much less those that don t. You mean its legal to own a 5.56 mm firearm that looks like a scary assault rifle and has a barrel length of 10.5 inches with no special licence, but if you have a short barreled rifle with a barrel that length it DOES require a license, stamp form, whatever? Come on, you have to admit that makes no sense. Only possible justification for the ATF to make the rules so weird is to confuse folks with an end goal of discouraging ownership.
  8. Envious here! I need a suppessor badly for it, and I also wish, in hindsight, that id went with .300 blackout...at the time i want sold on that caliber yet.
  9. Probably be better off. My Sig AR pistol is a 7.5 inch barrel. I wish id went with an SBR, but I didnt want do do the Form 1 thing so...what does that route cost?
  10. I also got an AR pistol for that very reason as well. Unfortunately, it has tremendous flash and sound when shot, which tends to minimize my desire to shoot it, lol. Still would use it in an emergency, but it almost makes me want to store a pair of earmuffs with it.
  11. I feel fairly confident that the police wont try to charge me in a self defense shooting here in middle Tennessee. But I certain ly do not have any confidence at all, despite what the Nashville DA says, that He wont pursue charges. Like DaveTN said above, he is already charging good guys. I can only wonder why he is bowing to the media like he is...is he seeking higher office or something? The Delke shooting appears to me as justified as can be. Bad guy with a gun, it shouldn't matter where the bullets entered his body, all that should matter is that he got put down before he hurt someone. When I first became a cop many many years ago, we were completely authorized to shoot fleeing felons. Interpret that to say in the back. Different times back then. Obviously, things have changed now. But a bad guy with a gun, is a threat to both the police and the public. Its just a matter of time til he shoots one or the other. Recently, there was a patrol car dashcam video on the news of a IOS in Nashville, Antioch I think. Anyway, it was a pursuit, the bad guy bailed after pulling in a driveway, and was shooting at the LEO as he ran towards the back of a house. At one point his back was to the LEO but the bullets were hitting all around the LEO. If the officer had hit him at that time, im sure it would have been in the back. Im reminded of a story where a deputyt, after being asked why they shot a cop killer 68 times, replied, “That’s all the bullets we had or we would have shot him more.” (https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/sheriff-attributed-suspects-shot-68-times-thats-bullets-true/)
  12. I think it boils down to whether you are in its in tended audience. There's obviously trade-offs with this weapon. I got one for my wife because 1. She has trouble racking slides. This slide is dead easy to rack. 2. She doesnt deal well with felt recoil. .380 round in bigger/heavier package may have less felt recoil. Not tested yet. 3. She has trouble loading magazines. These mags are easy to load.
  13. Sounds kinda cheesy, but bicycle inner tubes cut to fit the grip work. Ive done this in the past. The rubber gives a good grip too. Wont last forever but it works., and a whole lot cheaper than grip sleeves made commercially!
  14. Welcome to TGO and thanks for your service! I have long had an interest in Amateur radio, but have still not gotten my license. Was into shortwave and listening to ham, but with the internet, I never never did the licensing. Morse code initially kept me away, but now i have no excuse, lol.
  15. I know you are right, beebee233, 100%, and this ole world just keeps getting...shall we say, curiouser and curiouser. This is off topic kinds but related. There was a time not that long ago, maybe 20-30 years, when one neednt to think this way. It was good enough that the shepherds thought that way and could protect the flock. Nowadays, the flock is ever so much more vulnerable as well as targeted for attack, both by common criminals/hoods/hard cases, but even more importantly, by those that are philosophically and diametrically opposed to the Christian way and American way of thinking. Terrorism has already come here, but it has not come here the way its come to other parts of the world, but mark my words, its coming and coming sooner than you think. Whats happening in Europe WILL happen here. Our open borders and passive 'refugee' immigration practices have actually encouraged it. And once they are here in large numbers, it'll be almost impossible to stop, without a massive infringement on our civil liberties that the constitution guarantees us.
  16. I had hoped so, but when I read military ID i think active duty...i tend to expect the worst then be surprised if its better than expected, lol. But thanks, good to know,.
  17. Good advice, but also dont forget that God gave you eyes to see and a brain to think with...
  18. Well S***! THATS whats been happening to mine too. But mine, when they do this, have somehow gotten access to my bank account and deplete that also. Wish I knew more about how to stop this...oh, well guess I'll just have to live with it...
  19. Much as I despise flying anymore, there are occasions where i must, and my retired military id im noit sure if it will work...ill probably get the new license...
  20. Havent heard of one anywhere in any of the onlione sites i visit or mags I read, but I hope they heard you say that! Id probably buy one for me. My wife loves hers in .380.
  21. Went to the Gun Crew today in Hermitage and they has SOOO many things I wanted to buy. They had a 12 Bull pup, they had a double barrel AR style rifle, they had...well they haD everything, LOL. But, what followed me home from the Gun Crew Gun Store was brand new Sig P-365XL! Its so cute and friendly, just like a new puppy! I think I will keep it and name it Sally and love it and hold it and shoot it and clean it and...lol. Comes with 2 flush 12 round mags and the 15 round ones i bought before fit perfectly, and comfortably. Ill probably be carrying with a 15 either in it or in a spare pouch after I break it in and start carrying it. May not get to that til next weekend, Anyway, nice gun i think. Its very much like the basic 365 but the size is just ever so much longer and taller for a better grip, and the flat trigger is SOOO much better! I cant wait to shoot it with that trigger!~I may possibly sell one of my P365s. On a DIFFERENT topic , I spoke to the range guys at Royal Range and am on track to get my LEOSA range qual done soon! Overall, a pretty good day!
  22. Please let us know what you think of the 365XL!
  23. I had a similar issue with mine last year. I subscribe to the Blast level of internet speed from Comcast, and they promised "up to" XXX speeds. Well I had an older computer and their rented modem, the kind that also supports the phones, and wasn't getting anywhere near those kinds of speeds. Repeated calls to customer service helped not one bit. Then one day while trying to self-diagnose, i wandered into a Comcast website that listed modem compatibility and their associated speeds. Lo and behold if the dang modem that Comcast provided me wasn't supported at higher speeds, but at that time, it was the only one that also supported their 3 in one phone system/plan. Well since I didn't even use the Comcast phone system, i went out and bought my own Motorola modem at best buy and saw a modest increase in speed right away. After several more calls to customer service I stumbled upon a knowledgeable tech support American guy, lol. No, seriously, they are NOT unicorns, they do exist! No offense, just joking...sorta kinda...anyway, once he properly "registered my modem, i got really really fast speeds. Flash forward a few years. I started having other problems with internet connectivity, and a tech guy convinced me to get the Comcast rented all in one modem/wifi/phone thing in order to get a new plan. He absolutely stated that i could get the new plan with out it. So i fell for it and dont use the phone part, i dont even have a phone handset n the house anymore for a landline. Anyway, the wifi and modem combo works pretty good. It sometimes hangs up and requires resetting but not all too often, really and usually only after a cable interruption of some kind. Just did a speedtest usiing both http://speedtest.xfinity.com/ and speedtest.com and they average 178 dl, 12 ul and ping 8. Thats pretty consistent with me anytime, and i have a LOT of wifi connected devices...cell phones, ipads/tablets/computers, tvs, surveillance cameras, etc...My contract with comcast says "Blast!® Internet Download speeds up to 150 Mbps", but im getting a little better than that. If you go through comcast, id just warn you to be aware that their sales folks dont often know much other than what it takes to sound good and close a deal. Thats not always the case though. When i was first calling comcast to try to fix my issues with speed, they kept telling me that if I upgraded to the next higher level of speed/service, id see up to xxx speeds. but they didnt seem to understand when i explained i was not even seeing the current up to XX speeds, if that makes sense the way i said it...
  24. Not sure if it will work or not, but its a big change thats for sure. I went from 7 to 8 to 10 and probably like 10 better than 8, but not as much as 7...if i remember there are addons from 3rd parties that can make newer systems mimic the look and feel of 7...i had one for a while when i had 8, but finally decided i wasnt going to learn if i didnt just jump in...i actually find myself doing most of my computer surfing on my ipad. So much so that at times when im on my computer ill reacj out to my non touch screen computer monitor and try to make it work...embarrassed to say it never does lol.
  25. Thanks!
