  1. It wont happen overnight, but will be more of a slow, spreading, progressive burn. I live inside Davidson County, though on the outskirts. That decision is one I regret greatly not rectifying years ago. Living in a 'burb, not many ways to defend really, unless enough neighbors are of like mind, though i'll try, and am stocked enough to do so. Food and water and other consumables though, that's another problem. Guess the best to hope for in my case is that it dont get this far or last too long before order is restored. As Thomas Paine once so aptly said, "These are the times that try men's souls."
  2. Very similar on the regular shield vs the sig. Guessing the weights are about the same within an ounce or so, it seems like anyway. The shield with the laser/flashlight is heavier tho and felt recoil seems a little less on it. The grip on the Sig is way different than the shield. I like them both, but the sig for edc for extra capacity.
  3. I love my 2 9mm shields. One is equipped with a crimson trace green laser/flashlight combo, and it is within arms reach when home at night. But my edc is now a Sig P-365Xl, with a 365sas slide with 15 + I and a spare 15 round mag, with others readily available as needed. Prob will never need that much amp, but one never knows.
  4. I also usually carry extra. I keep one spare mag for my primary on me, and several more along with an extra box of ammo in my bag, as well as 2 spare mags for my backup. If things keep going sideways, I can see taking a long gun along as well.
  5. Cant go wrong in these days to think about these things. I err on the side of carrying a little too much stuff. Seems like there was a really good podcast on our sister site here about church security issues. You might check it out, Also, I think you are right about liability and also the training status of fellow churchgoers. I'd suggest seeing about forming a committee of like minded folks who might be interested in helping. At the least, I would want to know where the other 'guns' are in case I had to sue mine there, and have some kind of idea of what they will do. Lastly, I saw this online and it might give you some ideas: https://sheepdogchurchsecurity.net/church-security-guide/
  6. Wow. $350 is a lot of money!
  7. I watched that when I was there, when Tom Baker was Dr. Who...way different than anything lately tho
  8. Don't meant anglophile exactly, but having lived in England for most of my 20's, with little money, in a time before cable or satellite or even rentals, i learned to love both English TV and their sense of humour. Im talking shows like Month Python's Flying Circus, Dave Allen, Fawlty Towers, Benny Hill, Dads Army, Are You Being Served, Yes, Minister, Last Of The Summer Wine, The Goodies, Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'em, The Two Ronnies, The Fall & Rise of Reginald Perrin, It aint half hot, mum, To The Manor Born, Ripping Yarns, etc...I know the list goes on, but that's what I remember in this moment. Anyone else like this and can add more?
  9. I loved this show. I lived in Germany and still watch some of their shows if they are either dubbed or subtitled. This one i watch the dubbed version. Can hardly wait for the next season. Another good one was Berlin Station. but i heard its not coming back for a new season...
  10. Sorry to hear this, but you should be proud you didn't let her suffer. I think its admirable that you are leery of adopting another because of your age (Im right behind you, BTW), but having said that, I recommend you talk to family really soon and see if they will take care of your next, should you pass first, then if they will, go get you another friend! I've always wanted to adopt an older dog, myself, but have not been able to do that yet. I kinda inherited a pit bull 7 month old puppy a while back, pit bull of all things ( I hate pit bulls, lol) ! But she's become a real family member now and I cant imagine not having her here now. So sweet AND SO LOVING. These kinds of friends bring an enrichment like no other to our lives if we let them.
  11. Phil Valentine
  12. I also have an heirloom .22. My dad got a Winchester Model 67 when he was a kid. I got it when I was a kid. Its not a great gun, although it was more accurate than i was last time i shot it. I busted the stock a long time ago and go a new one on it now, but I still have the original. It'll go to one of my kids or a grandkid.
  13. Thanks, I'll check it out!
  14. Looking for recommendations for a new AR charging handle. Im interested in one that will make the handle easier to grasp and pull back/ Not sure what you call them, but want bigger 'wings' preferable on both sides.
  15. I figured out his name on here, it was Tommyboy.
  16. Is there a way for me to pull up a list of members?
  17. A good friend died a few years back, but I cant remember his name on here...it was Tommy something. Is there a way for me to search to figure it out?
  18. brownells and many others already out of stock.
  19. In a post about spares a while back, i posted that I tend to carry more than i think i will need. Soooo, ya cant carry spares without mags, lol. Like Hipower, i tend to stock up on mags when i first buy a new gun. There have been exceptions, but thats what Ive mostly done. That said, kinda wish i had more mags, lmao.
  20. I’m slowly getting used to the way that my Adamas opens as opposed to other kinds of autos. Axis autos are way different that most others. Not bad, just different. I edc this one every day, as opposed to my protechs that I’m sorta afraid to carry, lol. This Adamas is a brute, and obviously designed for heavy use. I’m loving it!
  21. I like mine too!
  22. Whelp. Went with optics planet in first place as they said in stock and it was cheaper than brownells. After ordering was complete they said out of stock. Cancelled the optics Planet order just now and ordered through Brownells, who says in stock, and then found and used a coupon code onlione for 25.00 off, so ended up being overall 10 bucks cheaper than optics planet! Thanks TGO for always giving great advice!
  23. I ordered something from OP yesterday that the web site said was in stock. They still have decucted my money or shipped my item and the email from them said unknown availabilioty. Pissees me off to lie and say they have it in stock when theu dont.
  24. I did that! Also some future terrorist kid friend of mine figured out we could take the really small Christmas ornament balls, put a mixture of gas and dish soap in them, and make napalm for our little men army wars. One time, my cousin and i went to a strip mine and 'liberated a stick of dynamite and a blasting cap and some fusecord. from the storage facility, which oddly enough was an old school bus. We knew it was dangerous but I dont think we realized just how dangerous until we blew something up. He had an old wooden go cart that he had built, all wood except for the axles and wheels. He didnt play with it anymore so we decided to experiment on that. Of course this was at his house in the country. We used just the one stick of dynamite. you'd be surprised what one stick of dynamite will do. We only ever found one wheel. The explosion also took out most of the branches of one tree in the woods right behind his house where the cart was sitting.
