  1. Thanks for all of the suggestions.  I took the advice of a few people here and bought the Glock Sport Combat.  You guys were right.  It's ugly, plastic, and works well.  I've been using it for a couple weeks and really like it.  It has good retention for the average user and after heating up the small belt-loop wings on the side and bending them back a little it's plenty comfortable and conceals very easily.  It rides high and tight with the trigger completely covered and the gun doesn't move around much at all.  In short, I like it.  I would be very comfortable carrying this every day.   As an added bonus, it was only $14.00 and a few bucks for shipping.
  2. Thanks for all of the replies.  I've ordered the Glock sport/combat holster.  There are a ton of really good reviews out there on it and most people seem to be surprised at how well it works given it's extremely low price tag (the one I ordered cost $14.00).  If it doesn't work for me I've only wasted $14.00 and I imaging I can sell it and get most of that back.  I get the feeling it's going to work well given the great reviews.  We'll see...
  3. Hmmm... The Glock Sport Combat looks interesting (and at a GREAT price).  Being close to the body and not hanging too far below the belt is very important to me.  I'll have to check around to see if I can find one in the Franklin area to try out.
  4. Hello to all.   I am looking for an easily concealable OWB holster for my Glock 26.  I've narrowed it down to the holsters listed here and would like your thoughts from those of you that have used them (pictures are welcome).   Crossbreed snapslide Safariland 527 Desantis minislide Galco Tac slide Galco m7x Galco quick slide Galco Jak slide I already have a good IWB holster that I really like (Crossbreed Supertuck).  I'm looking for a good, easily concealable OWB holster as another option.  I'd like it to ride pretty high and be secure on the belt.  I'd also like it to sit as close to the body as possible.  I'm a relatively small guy -- 5'10 and 170lbs.     Thanks in advance for your thoughts.   -- Jay
  5. Thanks for the info, Tungsten. I've emailed customer service about the extended baseplate for the magazine. I definitely don't plan on carrying it until I've had at least a few hundred rounds through it. I'll keep an eye on it for the slide locking problem. I'm glad you mentioned that, I hadn't heard it before. I've generally heard really good things about this gun. I think I'm really going to like it. Jay
  6. ...and came home with a nice Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm. I shot the xd9 sub-compact while I was there and didn't like the way it felt in my hand. After shooting the m&p, I was hooked. It's a great size for carry and was a tad bit cheaper than the xd (plus there's a $30.00 mail-in rebate going on right now). The only question I have is does anyone know if Smith and Wesson makes (or will make in the near future) a pinky extension for the magazine? If not, I'll probably buy another magazine with the extension. I've only shot about 50 rounds through it, but like it so far. Jay

Unplug the doorbell (just kidding). Maybe put a sign up right when you walk up to the front door that says "absolutely no soliciting". Most companies have a policy against knocking on doors with a no soliciting sign.

    Looking For Advice

Thanks for the advice. I definitely need more practice (lots more), but I've been told by other people who have shot my Taurus or their own Taurus that the gun has the tendencies mentioned earlier. It sounds like most of you think the Springfield xd is a much better gun. I'm going to handle one this week and put some rounds through it to see how it feels in my hand. If it feels good, then I'm sure I'll trade my Taurus for it. Thanks for all of your input. Jay
  9. I'm looking for advice about trading in my Taurus Mil. Pro 9mm (3rd generation). I bought the pistol about a year and a half ago mainly because it was small and relatively inexpensive. Although I haven't gotten around to getting my carry permit yet, I will, and that's what the pistol was purchased for. I've been thinking about trading it for a Springfield XD9 sub-compact. I've heard good things about both guns, but more about the Springfield. I've put about 500 rounds through my Taurus and it seems to shoot a little low and a little left of the center of the target (of course, this could just be my lack of experience ). I understand that all short-barreled pistols will be inaccurate, but I wonder if the Springfield would be any better. In your opinion, do you think it's worth the extra money for the Springfield? All of your opinions are welcomed. Jay
  10. I plan on carrying IWB, so it looks like the concensus is leather. That's what I was thinking also, but wanted some other opinions. My carry weapon will be a Taurus Mil. Pro 9mm. Its very small, so concealing it won't be a problem. Has anyone had any (positive or negative) dealings with High Noon Holsters? They have a nice-looking tuckable IWB for only $35.00. I'm not sure if I would always tuck a shirt in, but the option sounds appealing to me. Thanks for all of the replies. You guys are fast. Jay
  11. What's your opinion, leather or kydex holster (especially for IWB carry)? Just curious as to what you think. Jay
  12. Rumor has it that a Taurus PT 111 Pro (millenium pro) will fit nicely into a holster for a Glock 26. Does anyone know if this in fact the case? I'm looking for a highly concealable holster. Thanks, Jay
  13. Yup, the gun goes bang when I pull the trigger. It's small and has the Taurus lifetime warranty (two reasons I bought it).
  14. Hello to everyone. I've been a member here for a very short time, but haven't had much time to chat. At present I own a Taurus Millenium Pro 9mm (I know...not the best, but I don't have a lot of cash right now). I will be getting my carry permit this summer as soon as time allows for the class. --Jay
