  1. Whiskey congratulations. I went Sat. morning heard 2 birds. One was at least a mile away, and the other I sat up on but, he flew down later the other direction. Never heard another peep from him.
  2. Whiskey glad you've had great luck with a 20 gauge. There's times when shooting on the range that I wish I had a 20!
  3. I used to really enjoy squirrel hunting but, don't do much of it anymore. It seems the older I get the busier my job gets.
  4. Does anybody know what thread diameter and threads per inch 835 Mossbergs have for their chokes? Thanks for any help.
  5. Whiskey, how does the 20 gauge guns work for you. I'm thinking great because you use them. I just wondered because you don't see many hunters using them. My brother in law and his wife have always used 20 gauge guns for turkeys.
  6. Wow! Mean looking cutters on that old boy. Congratulations.
  7. I use a Mossberg 500 12 gauge with 3" Win. XR Longbeards. Works grrrrreat! I use a Hastings .640 choke in it. But, when I get time to test it, I may use a .665 that I made. Been working a lot the last month. I've got several calls that I want to try out too. Good luck to everybody.
  8. Very nice. I kicked myself several times for not ordering a Finnish while they were still lots available. You got a nice one there.
  9. I've owned a Trashco or two myself. I can't really recommend them to anybody. I've had good luck with Nikons over the years.
  10. Warm weather sucks for deer hunting. I didn't nothing Yesterday. Going again here in a little while.
  11. Omega that squirrel has been shooting the juice. Heavily pumped up.
  12. Maybe the paint job will take care of it. But, like peejman said, if you didn't get all the rust out it may rust again. Hope this cures it. Give it some time and let us know how it done.
  13. Alright man! Congratulations.
  14. I A 12 will probably serve you a lot better. I heard about a kid years ago that killed a turkey with a .410 but he got it pretty close. I normally use a 12 with 3" mags. #4 shot. Works really good. But, this Fall I'm gonna use my old 16 gauge.
  15. Randall, my season didn't go good last year either. I'm was working a lot (and still am) and didn't have a lot of time to hunt and one of my neighbors has a lot of dogs. Anyway I think I saw more dogs than deer. I went home mad a lot. Good luck to everyone this time.
  16. That sounds a lot like my situation. I work a lot of consecutive days now and usually don't like to be out in the woods when its hot. I take the turkey and deer seasons pretty serious though.
  17. Nice. I should've bought one of them when they were cheaper and I had my C&R..............
  18. Does anybody on here squirrel hunt anymore? I've really slacked off the last 10 years or so. I'm thinking I'll get back into it this year.
  19. I like the thumper 230- 250 gr. bullets in .45 too.
  20. 1. As far as a barrel goes. Barrel blanks in .451 bore diameter are available. 2. I'm aware of the differences in cartridge length too. Several cartridges have been chambered in Mosins. Magazines have been reshaped and reworked too. 3. The rim can be reworked too. Rimless cartridges have been used before. Bannerman used the .30-06. The extractor would have to be reworked. 4. Have you priced a repro Thompson?
  21. For furious bang bang purposes of course.
  22. Anybody heard of a Mosin .45 ACP conversion?
  23. I was gonna say about $800.00 or so myself. I'm just glad I've got way less than that in mine.
  24. I've heard about this company coming to Tn. and have looked at them on their site. Nice looking guns and have heard good reviews. I wish they would come out with other calibers. Bigger calibers would require a bigger gun design though. Might not ever happen..........
  25. Looks good. The stocks on a lot of these Type 53 rifles are in bad shape. That's probably why somebody put the synthetic on. You gotta love Mosins.
