  1. Of course, it never matters how big a bullet you miss him with. However, I still say throw the most effective lead at him you can as long as it doesn't hinder your accuracy and/or shot placement.
  2. Full house 10mm loads in the 29 are going to be pretty wicked. I haven't shot one, but in a G20 they are stout, but it is a good stout if that makes any sense. Along the lines of " It has authority, but doesn't sting your hand or anything". I can imagine in a, well, basically a 26 sized (just thicker) gun they would be nasty. With that said, I say go for it. If I had more money and/or had reload equipment to reload 10mm I'd probably have one right now, perhaps a 20. edit: also, about holster options: I'd imagine you could use some of the holsters for the G30, if not all of them. The dimensions are identical basically.

    Glock 19 vs Glock 19c

My feeling on the subject is: compensation is simply not needed in a 9mm. If you want it for carry duty, then I say no C. If it is a range gun only then rock n roll. If I were you, I'd wait and snag a 4th gen. Worried about the double spring recoil assembly? (assumign the 19 gets one) Who cares, I think the 26&27 have been doing fine with it for decades and it is a similar design to that. If any issues did arise, rest assured Glock would fix them right quick fast and in a hurry.
  4. 9mm rocks in my opinion. Very size effecient, and has proven itself over the years. No need for a caliber to start with a "4" or any of that silly bs. I also love .45, but not for carry. I carry DoubleTap 147 +p in my G26. Why +p? Well I feel that in the shorter barrel it helps keep the velocity up. Also, the 147 gr round is slow to begin with, and in a +P it's as fast out of my 26 as standard pressure 147 gr is out of say a g19 or g17. DT 147 +p is about 1050-1100 out of a 26 give or take. I'm of the mentality and thinking that I want the heaviest round in a given caliber, and I want the fastest load in that weight. For me it is all about pure physics and terminal ballistics-- momentum not energy. DoubleTap's "bonded JHP" is a Speer Gold Dot bullet, they just just can't say it is for licensing purposes or something but they used to advertise this fact on their website. I shoot this load well, it is fairly inexpensive (less than a dollar per shot) and I trust the DT stuff.
  5. I agree about the nemesis, but it is comfortable. Do you use an aholster instead? I've never tried one and I was thinking about giving one a shot.

    I'm torn G26 or G27

With respect to getting the 27 and a conversion barrel, here is my thought: If I'm going to buy a gun, I'm going to buy it in the caliber I want it in, not so that I can convert it later. Why? Why would I want to buy a gun in .40, convert it to 9mm for practice, but carry the .40? Since I'm carrying the .40 should I not practice with the .40? In other words, what exactly do you gain from the conversion? Another gun that shoots a different caliber but isn't realistically usable in a combat or self-defense situation. Most people aren't going to trust a converted firearm with their life, me included. Sure I know you can swap the extractor and ejector yadda yadda and get "full" reliability out of the thing, but my original point stands, if you are going to carry it practice with the caliber you are going to carry. Or at least that is my $.02 YMMV

    I'm torn G26 or G27

I was in the same boat. I went with the 26 due to cheaper ammo, and quicker follow up shots. Plus it holds 1 more round.
  8. PF9 is very easy to carry and easy to shoot but it will not be fun to shoot. It pops hard with +P... very snappy.
  9. I use a Desantis nemesis pocket holster usually.
  10. I just got a P14 and it has been awesome so far.
  11. Awesome, great choice. I love my 26 it is my EDC.
  12. barewoolf, after I posted last night I decided to tinker with it some. I went to pull the firing pin and firing pin spring out, but the pin wouldnt drop out under its own weight... hmmm.... I had to use quite a bit of force with some pliers to pull it out. I read about using a drill bit on KTOG to clean up the firing pin channel. So, I used a 5/32 drill bit and BY HAND ran it up an down in the firing pin channel to remove any metal burs or crud in there. Quite a bit of metal filings came out on the bit itself, and as I worked with it I noticed it got "slicker" feeling as I was smoothing the channel out. Then I chased that with a cotton swab with CLP on it to get any remaining crap out. It got quite a bit of crap out of there, and to remove any left over filings. Then I tried the firing pin and it would easily fall out under its own weight. The last step I did was take some fine grit paper and polished the fat part of the firing pin to slick it up and help it out as much as I could. I haven't gone back to the range to test it. but I can tell that it is louder when it hits the snap cap, so it looks promising. I'll have to get to the range soon and try it out for sure but I think that may be the ticket.
  13. I'm in the same boat as the OP. I too am getting light strikes with a PF9, it is going to be my father's carry piece. Had one tonight that didn't light, put it back in the mag and it fired off on the second strike. I picked up some brass that I shot through the gun and it also had very small dimples, too small to be comfortable with. I'm used to my Glock which knocks a really nice hole in the primer. I may call KT and see if they will send another firing pin, it may be that it is out of spec... that or the hammer spring is too weak or something like that. I'll keep you updated with what I find out barewoolf.
  14. If you want to deviate from your 2 original choices, a S&W 642 or similar would be awesome for her.

    Glock 23

I shoot my 26 better than the larger Glocks... lol. To me, what makes glocks more accurate is, well, me. They can outshoot me no problem usually.
  16. PF9 is going to be more comfortable I'd think. She will most be able to get her entire hand comfortably on the grip, where as with the p3at she probably wont. The 380 is pretty snappy in those little pistols, but the 9 is of course snappy in the light weight pf9. The PF9 comes with the base plate pinky extension as well which would help. Another reason to go with the pf9 is the 9mm cartridge of course, and it being larger it is easier for most to manipulate the whole gun...but since she weighs 100lbs the p3at may fit her like a glove. My father has a pf9 and it is almost too small for my hand, so I'd think there would be plenty of real estate there for smaller hands. The best advice I can give you is to have her look at them, hold them and see which one she prefers. As far as recoil, I think the p3at will feel like it has more simply because it is so much smaller. Though one thing I have found with firearms in general is that different people are sensitive to different types of recoil. Snappy vs. push or punch.

    Beretta Tomcat .32

I agree, go the kel tec route, but I'd go at least 380 like the p3at, but that's me. The PF9 is larger, but you are getting a larger caliber to boot. Decisions decisions.

    Two questions

I use CLP on my knives, and some parts of my guns. The rest of the time I use Pro-Tec products. And yes, you can get CLP at Wal-Mart its in a black "Winchester" can but has "Break Free" written below the Winchester logo it.

    1911 Help

Guns and Ammo in Memphis had one a few days ago.
  20. If your pants have slightly larger pockets, a kel-tec PF9 would be a good option. I pocket carry my g26, but that is in jeans... I also have a 642, and I agree the "bulge" looks natural and is not a problem at all. A better pocket gun than a g26 for sure. However, I shoot my g26 much better therefore that is what I carry. I just convinced my father to buy a pf9, and I was trying it out around the house in my pocket and it fits great. If you don't mind 380's the new Tarus 380 is awesome, or of course the p3at or the Ruger "Little Copied Pistol" are good options as well.

    Decided on a 1911

If it is a true "hi cap", its probably a 1911 slide on a Para Ord frame kit. Which is a wicked setup. I have a Para P14 stainless on order right now, and I'm very excited. I ordered the 15+1 factory mags for it, just waiting for the gun. 16 rounds of .45acp will really ruin a zombie's day.
  22. If you don't have another 1911 and you like this one you have, I wouldn't do the trade. Every collection needs a 1911 represented somehow or another. I am a Glock man, but I am also a 1911 man. Go figure. Though I do not believe you could go wrong either way to be honest. Like you said, you can shoot them for a little bit, sell/trade them off for another 1911 like a Para Ord. Rock n roll.
  23. looks to me like they carry them empty, with safety off. What is that? Condition 4.5?
  24. Me too!!! +1

    GSG-5

I love my GSG-5 SD. It loves the Federal 550 pack from Wal Mart, so I've got that going for me... which is nice.
