Suggestions on home defense shotguns
Troutburger replied to jwinter's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Mossberg 590 A1 starts out a little rough, but after a little break in its nice and smooth. There have been some finish issues on the 870 Express tacticals. But you can't beat a 870 Wingmaster. One of the best value priced shottys is the Maverick by Mossberg. It aint pretty and the stock set is cheap plastic but prices are good. Benelli Nova makes a nice hd shotty too, but the one I had was so light it kicked like a mule. Had a plastic receiver and could chamber up to 3.5" shells. Never had the guts to run 3.5's through it. But 3" shells would put a dent in your shoulder... -
BHO is the worst president since GWB.

Tactical Solutions TSG-22
Troutburger replied to Troutburger's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I had an FFL order it direct from Tac Sol. Took about 8-9 months to ship. Will try the grease if I start having issues, so far the mobile 1 seems to have done the trick. -
Picked up a Tactical Solutions TSG-22 Conversion for my Glock 17. Definitely not one of my most frugal purchases. I could have had any number of .22lr pistols for the same or less money, but this one just seemed interesting to me. First impressions were: Well packaged, nice slide, cheap mag, easy install/removal. All is pretty simple and straight forward. Not good, first round fired second round failed to feed. Here we go another customer service fight. Minimags are the recommended break in ammo, plus I added a little Mobile one to lube things up a bit... Proud to report over 100 rounds through it flawless. When loading the mags to the full 15 round capacity, sometimes the first round wants to pop up a little bit, but if I stop at 14 no problems at all. Yeah, a lot of the acting stinks in Revolution, and its not exactly believable. Still, it is WAY better than the jersey shore and top model....

Best moderately priced weapon light??

I have a couple TRL-1's. Good wide beam, lights up the room. No issues with them. -
Sorry to hear this terrible news, but glad everyone is okay.

I expected to hear the dragnet theme music...

The CETME will dent up your brass. I had one for a while, Century build. Was fairly accurate, but mag changes were brutal. Go with an AR10 over a CETME for sure.

If you are thinking about Blackthorne AR's, look inside

That should make for some interesting barrel harmonics.... -
We went through the Verizon phone scam too. My wife had 8 HTC's that were just garbage. She returned phone #6 and got phone # 7. Phone # 7 turned out to actually be phone # 5 that she had just sent back as it still had some of her photos on it. Refurbished my @$$. When phone #8 tore up she sent it back, and verizon said it had water damage and refused to cover it. It was a monsoon when she mailed it back, so my guess is the box absorbed water in the mailbox overnight. We raised hell and they were gracious enough to let her pay the ins deductible and get into an Iphone for like $150 or so. My Motorola Android had the best operating system I have ever used, but they tore up all the time too. Our Iphones have been flawless. Hers even took a dip in the pool. Not as good a system vs the android, but it always works which is a plus. Verizon vs Charter battle of the crappy customer service...

Wow, that's nice! Let's have a range report...

So is it like assembling a standard 556 lower for the end user? Standard hammer, LPK etc? Did you buy the DDLE bolt?
-
Why shoot a 9mm AR. Easy answer, Its fun. Plus, 9mm ammo is inexpensive compared to 556 and down right cheap compared to .308
-
I HATE it when that happens.

How long should it take a receiving FFL to check in a gun?
Troutburger replied to a topic in General Chat
It really just depends on the volume delivered and how busy the shop is. To actually log the gun in 5-10 minutes, but its a matter of having time to get to it while helping walk ins. If a shop had several guns delivered it would take a while just to sort through the inventory. -
PSA has always come through for me. You just never know when....lol
-
Whoa that is awesome! Where can you find those lowers?
-
I got one hasn't killed me yet...lol...yet...

I think when you compare features to the dollar the RRA Predator and Varmint series are hard to beat. They claim 3/4" MOA.

My point is that the blog is clearly one side of a two sided story. Also, Let's say couple of customers throw vague flags suggesting a straw purchase, and you complete the transaction. Then said customers turn out to be BATF&E secret shoppers. Well you just got your business fined and potentially cost them their FFL.
-
Yeah, I think maybe the blog is a little one-sided. The employee is legally bound not to sell the gun if he suspects its a straw purchase. Obviously he had a reason to doubt the purchase and can refuse the transfer. I respect an FFL who is willing to lose business to look out for his community. No way would I fire this employee.

1) He's a terrible shot. Would hate for anyone to see me shoot like that. 2) He has created a SBR and would require proper paperwork.

Sounds fun, I'm in!
