1.
pouring water into a bag is cooking?
Not just water. Hot water, yup that's gourmet...
2. Mountain house is great but it's nice not to have to cook sometimes...
3. The problem with surplus MRE's is they can be quite old and not cared for. Still okay to eat, but of lesser nutritional value and taste. Here is a good source for civilian ready "fresh" MRE's. http://beprepared.com/category.asp_Q_c_E_100_A_c2c_E_ln_A_name_E_MRE(MealsReadytoEat)
4. Did you put in a rifle buffer?
5. If you want a budget red dot check out vortex.

7. 10/22's and AR's are like barbie dolls for men. You can dress them up anyway you like... It seems like Ruger has produced hundreds of variations over the years, coupled with all the aftermarket goodies. No two are ever alike. Decent accuracy out of the box and good reliability makes for a good fun toy to mess with.
8. Here's a 10/22 I just put together with some odds and ends. I think this one has a walnut stock. Added a tactical innovations 16" finned and threaded barrel and Volquartsen bolt I had picked up on trade.
9. This is not my rifle, but it typical of the many many many FTE's I had.
10.
I bought my RRA LAR-9 from Bud's Discount Guns in Lexington, KY. I have put 300 rds thru it with no problems. No feed problems and very accurate, fun to shoot for almost no recoil. My wife calls it her gun. She can tear up target at 25 yds and can hit top portion of bowling pins. I bought my mags from Outpost Armory, they hold bolt open on last round.
What kind of ammo are you shooting? The rifle does seem to be very accurate. I'm sure my problem just an extractor or ejector issue, they could fix in 10 minutes. Its just frustrating trying to get it there and back...
11. Emailed RRA, they said to call and they will issue a call tag. Problem is been calling since 10 am monday morning and the lines are busy...
12. I just peeked....
13. Well I must have been a good boy this year. Diawa Mini Spin! One of those things you always want, but are too cheap to buy for yourself. This thing will see a lot of use this spring. I just gotta figure out how to keep my cub scout from seizing it under imminent domain. Thanks Santa! 14. You've just gone from a Yankee to a damn Yankee. Fortunately there are integration programs.... damn yankee A yankee who moves South because of the warmer climate and friendly people, and decides to stay. (As opposed to regular yankees who return home because they like crappy food and weather cold enough to cause death).
15. Mine is shipping out today.
16. Well finally made it to the range yesterday. I am sad to report this one so far is a DUD. Prior to the range visit I field stripped the rifle and lubed it up real well. First round fired FTE, some how the spent brass went back into the receiver and was blocking the hammer. Had to pull the rear pin to clear the malfunction. Next mag ran through completely no hang ups. Then SHTF, I could not get more than 5 rounds to run through the rifle without a FTE. The stove pipes were many and of various severity. Most I could drop the mag, rack the bolt and reload. Several were jammed so tightly it almost took 3 hands to clear. The bolt was moving rearward enough to strip a new round from the mag, so I suspect an extractor problem. I have 4 RRA mags with BHO and one converted UZI mag RRA supplied with the gun. I deliberately only loaded the mags to appx 20 rounds vs 32 to give a little leeway. Went through over 100 rounds all 115 grain WWB. Tried a few wolf and some PMC.
17. I saw a 10/22 yesterday with what looked like a plastic receiver. It had a textured finish on it. Maybe it wasn't plastic though. Looked really cheap.
18. That is a slick rifle! Do you think a custom 1022 built on the new plastic receivers would be as accurate as the metal receiver?
19. Yeah I don't like super human zombies either. After all they are human at their base and should not exceed the laws of physics.
20. I have a bunch of those Chinese clips laying around too. I have used some that work no problem, but I also have a bunch laying around that I haven't tried at all. Wouldn't be surprised if I have some out of spec too. I know some of them are tighter than others when loading ammo...
21. Once BHO ends the import of foreign ammo 5.45x39 is likely to become rare and expensive. I have a converted Saiga 7.62x39 and had a Wasr10. I just dont see what the big deal is about an ak. Had more jams with that wasr than any of my AR's. I'd buy ammo and save for a 308.
22.
Hehe. My grandfather has mentioned a couple of times how he always had his 1911 handy while pooping during ww2.
My grandfather operated a landing barge in WWII and always told us a story about almost getting hit with a mortar while sitting on a bucket dropping a deuce.
23. I have stripper clips that work with both my Russian and Norinco SKS. My guess would be that your clips are out of spec and not your rifle.
