Saints Coach Payton "I Hate Guns"
frankmako replied to NextExit's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Fool. Just another fool. -
I am using some sr 4756 that I got on 1988 and some unique from 1981. I called the powder companies and they walk me through on how to test gun powder to see if it is still good. There are four simple tests. Smell, look, rub some on white paper to see of it makes black marks and a small burn test.

This weekend at Chattanooga Rifle Club will hold it’s second NRA Smallbore Rifle Silhouette and Smallbore Hunter Rifle Silhouette match of the year. 26 shooters shot the matches last month. These matches will be held between the two Cowboy matches. Practice at 11 a.m. and match starts at 12 p.m. See Steel Chickens Topics for more information, http://www.steelchickens.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=11028 and http://www.steelchickens.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=10866. This shooting game is one of the most challenging, yet rewarding. The object of the game is to knock the ridiculously small metallic targets (chicken, pig, turkey and ram) from their stands at their respective distances of 40, 60, 77, and 100 meters with a .22 caliber rifle. While shooting from an “offhand”, standing, unsupported position, under the clock. There are 2 groups of 5 of each animal at each of their respective distances. The shooter has 2 ½ minutes to fire 5 shots (plenty of time), 1 at each of the targets from left to right in order. A hit is when the animal is knocking off the target stand and a miss is a miss; only 1 shot at each target. 40 shots per match. All you need is a .22 caliber rifle and a steady hold. Scopes are allowed and encouraged. The ammunition is any .22 short, long, or long rifle cartridge, standard-velocity. “High” or “hypervelocity” (Stingers, Vipers, etc.) are not allowed. It is extremely helpful if you have sighted your rifle in at the various distances and have recorded the sight settings prior to the match. “Kentucky Windage” is not much help in this game because of the physical size of the targets. The Ram at 100 meters is a bit smaller than the average hand and it is the biggest target of the four. Bring your lunch and see how well you can shoot.

The weekend the Chattanooga Rifle Club will hold a NRA Cowboy Rifle Silhouette Small Bore and Pistol Cartridge match. Start time is 9 a.m., with practice starting at 8 a.m. See this topic at Steel Chickens for more detail match information. http://www.steelchickens.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=10866 Cowboy Rifle Silhouette is focused toward shooters who enjoy shooting hunting arms and do not want to make the investment required of other specialized types of shooting competitions. The matches are designed so that a competitor can shoot either or both small-bore or pistol cartridges. Listed below are rules that apply to both small-bore and center-fire rifles. 1. Rear sights may be open sights, receiver or tang sight. Front sights must be a post or bead, may be hooded or if interchangeable may use post inserts only. 2. Any cartridge causing target damage or deemed unsafe may be banned. 3. Binoculars may be used for spotting. Spotting scopes or stands may not be used. No shooting jacket, shooting vests or gloves will be allowed. 4. The small-bore rifle can be any lever action, pump or semi-auto rim-fire rifle (No bolt actions rifles), .22 long rifle ammunition only, hyper velocity ammunition prohibited. 5. The center-fire rifle can be any lever action rifle with a tubular magazine. A rimmed pistol cartridge must be used, i.e. 25-20, 32-30, 38's, 357 magnum, 38- 40, 44's, 44-40, 45 Colt, 45 long Colt, 22 magnum, 22 long rifle. The targets are metallic animals set at different distances, so you get to use some “Kentucky windage”. A match consists of 40 shots, so you'll need a minimum of 40 rounds. There will be a sight-in and practice period prior to the match so take into account your practice rounds when deciding how much ammo to bring. If you want to sight-in prior to match day, the distances are as follows: Chickens at 40 meters; pigs at 50 meters; turkeys at 75 meters; rams at 100 meters. Anyone who likes to plink with a 22 rifle will enjoy Cowboy Rifle Silhouette. The matches are informal and lots of fun.

back in 92 we lost most of the house to hurricane andrew. i was able to get the correct plugs from northern tools to make a cable to plug my generator into a house wall outlet. i turned off the two main circuit breakers and plug the generator in. had power to the whole house. i could drop rooms off the power by turning off breakers. lived this way for months. check with northern tools and these people, http://www.electricgeneratorsdirect.com/.

Thinking through reloading .223... how does this sound?
frankmako replied to NeveSSL's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I clean all my brass before I reload. 5.56 is still cheap if you buy large amounts. Been some time since I reloaded any. -
