lyman 17a globe front sight and three marble tang sight aperture. -
your best scale is a beam scale. but they are slow when loading a large lot of ammo. i got two dillon digital scales and a rcbs chargemaster combo. any brand and all digital scales can give you problems.

Press Bullet Pullers... which do you prefer?
frankmako replied to NeveSSL's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
i use both. -
back in the 60's it was hoppie #9 for cleaning with 3-in-one oil and wd-40. in the 70's it was hoppie #9 for cleaning with lsa weapons oil, wd-40, and 3-in-one oil. in the 80's i used hoppie #9 with clp and/or lsa weapon oil. then in the later 90's to now, i use hoppie #9 with mobile 1 and/or clp. also i use some wheel bearing grease when needed. this has worked well for me in my high volume match rifles over the years.

frankmako replied to gregintenn's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
if you do any type of reloading a chronograph is a must. today they don't cost much and with one you can make some good safe loads. got my chronograph in 83 and it has been one of the best reloading item i got. -
Pulling bullets...lesson learned
frankmako replied to gregintenn's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
been there, done that, and got the t-shirt. i pulled many reloads in my life time with the hammer and/or a press mount puller. then i got smart. now i load 20 rounds for testing. i run five rounds across the chronograph and the rest on paper to check grouping. then i load about 20 of the best lot to recheck grouping. that way i have a small number of rejects rounds to mess with. most of the time i use these rejects to heat the barrel and check my shooting stance before the match starts. -
s&w model 19 that i pickup from ace hardware in 73 when i came home from overseas and my marlin 1894 lever gun.

Planning to run some fencing around my land
frankmako replied to Wingshooter's topic in General Chat
after survey is done drive metal pins in the ground for markers every 50 feet along with some metal poles that stands about one foot high. that way you got pins in the ground that is hard to move and high metal poles that can be seen. that way there is no question on where the line is. back fence off line 12 inches. clear cut the 12 inches and fence area and build a good fence. -
hard to beat a old jm marked marlin without the cross bolt safety. when they started with the cross bolt safety and rebounding hammer the marlin went down. then when remington took over the quality went way down.

What size backup generator?
frankmako replied to maroonandwhite's topic in Survival and Preparedness
go as big as the money you have. if you go to small it will not run the items you need. refrigerator and well pump has a big pull on startup then goes to a lower pull when running. -
to me gun shows are a waste of time.

frankmako replied to Mark A's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
been a while since i have order from powder valley. what is their shipping fees now. at one time they were not to high. -
got my first dillon 550 in 84. got my second dillon 550b in 2002. both are running today as good as day one. yes small things have broken, but dillon sends the part to fix what is broken. i have looked at the square deal,,,,but the working area is smaller and it harder to change calibers. it would have to be a great price before i would buy a square deal. the price different between the square deal and the 550b is not that big for the base models. but,, if i found a square deal on the cheap i would get it to load a single caliber only.

sportmans warehouse is the place to go. lately they have had lots of powder.
-
just call dillon and order from them. the price will be the same. or go to dillon's web site to order.

Alabama, Georgia declare state of emergency after pipeline spill
frankmako replied to Grand Torino's topic in General Chat
i like how some stations jumped the price up when this started and some stations did not. i got gas at $1.99 during the weekend. several stations around me did not jump up the price and they had gas too. other stations went to the $2.29 price. one speedway station went to $2.29 and the other speedway station five miles away went to $2.11 a gallon. to the stations that jumped up the price i am putting them in the same boat as the guns stores (i.e. bentons) that jumped 22 lr ammo to a $100.00 dollars for a bulk box. never again am i going to spend my money there. -
we have got some big problems. these people don't need to breed. thank you government control schools for giving people like this to us.

i pickup one of the first gen 2 p3at when they came out many mango seasons ago. dropped it in a pocket holster and never looked back. gave it a good cleaning and used grease on the rails. never had any problems with it. it just shoots. it is not a range gun. my p3at will fire two mags as fast as i can pull the trigger/reload with out any problems. i can not ask a small pocket pistol to do more. it rides in my pocket everyday.

Looking for Gunsmith near Chattanooga
frankmako replied to driverman_1's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Non-chlorinated brake cleaner from Wal Mart is what I use when I can not break down all the parts. I blow it out with a air compressor, then I give it some Hoppie #9, then a second blowing with air. Oil and grease appropriately. Make sure it is the non-chlorinated type. The other stuff will mess up a gun.
