How are you set for ammo and reloading components?
frankmako replied to gregintenn's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
if the next election goes to the dem's then all gun related items will go sky high. time to buy now just in case. -
finding a free shooting range is hard in this area. prentice cooper is the only free shooting range that i know of and it is closed. the indoor ranges all cost to shoot and they all have their good/bad problems. local club is the chattanooga rifle club. but there is a waiting list and the cost. i am a member and use it. best to find a friend that has some land where you can shoot. or just pay the money to a indoor range and/or club. one would think there would be more free shooting places here with all the open land we have, but it not so.

no reason unless you are towing heavy. even then no reason. i tow with a ford f450 and all my trailers have single axle brakes except one. adding a second set of brakes is not hard to do.

i use trailers on the farm and for the things you are wanting to do. are you looking at open or enclosed trailers? i use gooseneck for heavy things like tractors and hay equipment and the bumper pull for lite loads. i would look at the gosseneck trailer, wood floor, two food dove tail, and brakes on one axle. you want at least 7k pound axles and fold down ramps. if you go bumper pull i would look at getting wood floor, 3.5 to 7k pound axles, two foot dove, brakes on one axle, trailer sway kit, and a weight distribution system. you don't need the weight distribution/sway kit, but it is nice to have. i pull a 20 foot (2 foot dove) enclosed car hauler trailer without it. but i use the system on a 16 food bumper pull equipment trailer. i am not a fan of the steel deck, don't like them when they get wet, fell/slipped off one once when it was wet. i had one once and it did not feel/pull as good to me as my wood deck trailers. dovetail is best for loading over flat deck. you will need a trailer brake control box. i like the tekonsha prodigy p2. now it cost more over most brands, but it is worth it for the proportional braking of the trailer over tow vehicle. don't buy more trailer than your vehicle can tow. if your vehicle is straining to tow the empty trailer then it is to much trailer for your vehicle. i would look a graigslist and local sales network for a used trailer. you can get some great deals on a used trailer. most people buy a trailer, use it two or three times, and then it sets in the back yard for some time. you can save over a new.

Anybody here have or have ever built a smokehouse?
frankmako replied to gregintenn's topic in Survival and Preparedness
i had one on the farm that was build before 1900. it was hand cut logs and was around 16 by 16. big walk in smoke house, on a dirt floor. my granddad used it when he had the farm. it had a salt box on one side. i remember hams and other stuff hanging when i was young. over the years it was used for can goods and other things. i sold it to a man with deep pockets that wanted it for his bbq place in central tennessee. they came with a grew and number each log before removing it. if you build one go as big as you can. -
had a old ww2 8mm in the 60's and 70's. man that was a great gun. not a cut down gun, full off the battle field rifle. 8 mm ammo was not hard to get, lots of old surplus ammo around. then in 83 i dropped a 308 barrel in it and never looked back.

Thanks to the Internet, this countrry is in deep doodoo!
frankmako replied to E4 No More's topic in General Chat
we are going to have a reset. things will be bad when it happens. it is best to be ready for it. it will be hard on everybody. teach your kids the basic things they should know to make it when the reset comes. it looks like there are more of them than us. -
everybody knew this was going to happen. but the butt heads in dc did nothing to stop it when they could. we keep voting in the same crap, so we get crap. until we get some new people in dc it is not going to get any better. just pull out your billfold and pay.

in the 60's when i was a kid the streets were full. i would bring home a big bag full of candy. the 70's, 80's and 90's there were the same as for the amount of kids that came to my house. that was in five different major cities that i lived in. sometime in the last five to eight years it has been not so much. last two year i got none, before that one or two. i still buy a large bag of the good candy bars, the ones that i like so i can pig out. last night i got a grand total of six at my house. it look like ages of just starting to walk/talk to about 1st grade. let me tell you they made out. they were nice kids and only took one candy bar and say thank you. then before they could walk away i would stop them and tell them to get some more. i would let them get several. better for them than me.

if the tow vehicle has a tennessee tag you are good to go. i do it all the time with a 20 foot trailer. i use to keep a one sheet print out of the tennessee law in the truck to show if i got stopped. but never needed it.

plus one. just another way they are trying to control us. you are born, you live, and then you die. it is just a basic fact. move on, nothing to see here. i had twice my normal amount of bacon this morning because of this.

Harvard Drops The Hammer On Anti-Gunners
frankmako replied to tennesseetiger's topic in General Chat
the government, the left, the low information voter, the freeloader, and other dirt bags don't care what the facts are. they do not want us, the normal person, to have guns. any type of gun. they know if we have guns they can not control us. -
22LR ammo....now if the price will just drop!!!
frankmako replied to Randall53's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
prices will come down but they will never be low like they use to be. the factory found out people will pay the higher price for 22 lr ammo. look at the fools that paid the "scalpers" price. they kept scalping going on for sometime. -
chattanooga got matches each month at the chattanooga rifle club. sometimes you have to dive to get a match in. i drive each three weekends each month to get a silhouette match.
