  1. ok, after a quick read through,    i have a few  questions and a few thoughts:   did you build this upper?  or factory?   see if the upper is accurate while ignoring the optic. try this: set up a paper targer at 25 yds.   put the gun in a rest or on bags and try to shoot a 5 shot group on paper without the glass. if the group is tight, it's not gun. (doesn't mean the gun can't be improved by lapping, but i wouldn't go there yet)   and if you can, run some commercial loads.     i don't doubt your handloading ability, but before tearing into your gun, you may want to run a few commercial rounds through it and see how they group first.   had a similar issue with a friends rifle.  he was going to tear the whole thing down and start over.   when boresighted in a vise, his rifle would shoot a nice group once on paper when NOT using the scope.   but as soon as he went to the scope, he was all over the place.   his scope and rings were loose.  they felt tight, but they werent.   unmounted and correctly remounted the rings then the scope and he was good to go.   keep us posted.
  2. in my opinion, primary arms advanced micro dot with a good QD base (like Larue) simply the most rugged and best value red dot sight combo available for under $500 solid, amazing battery life (50K hrs) small, light, lifetime warranty, crazy rugged, and good enough to bet your life on if needed.    I realize many will take issue with this, and thats cool... here's my perspective:  i own ACOGs, Aimpoints, Eotechs, among others.   the  primary arms advanced micro dot is an incredible value.
  3. Have many just irons I believe you need skill with irons. Also if running just irons, skip flip ups if you ever think you will need to fight with it. Ideal is a standard FSB on the front and a non folding rear like those mentioned here. Simple Should you someday choose to enhance your rifle for little money then ad the red dot of your choice. Currently I am amazed by the advanced micro dot by primary arms. I have aimpoints and eotechs and the micro is an insanely good optic that you could bet your life on with a 50,000 hr battery life. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OD2L62M/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_2?pf_rd_p=1944687502&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B00KB8RQTY&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1J28Q3B94R1TVW0KGKJ2
  4. I know most of us don't run in the circles that can put this kind of glass on a rifle, but i found this to be a very interesting study of premium glass.   http://precisionrifleblog.com/2014/09/19/tactical-scopes-field-test-results-summary/         (i searched to see if this was posted prior, and didn't find it.  if it was, please redirect me to the thread and delete)
  5. nice
  6. TAG Hard Plate Carrier   excellent piece of kit.   pics to follow
  7. question:   WHY do people KEEP sending letters to the BATF on this...  seriously!!!!!!!   they ruled it fine, and now we have several more attempts to clarify what was a perfectly clear letter to basically everyone, except for three or so meatheads which have so far only resulted in further confusing and narrowing the scope of the intent of the BATF original statement...   keep poking the bear and it will wake up!   Probably too late, but  LEAVE IT THE FU*K ALONE
  8. nice.  actually like the new grip but would want it on my original size LCR...   any sources on grips only yet??
  9. As pointed out above: shipping to and from is different then working on for profit Technically, you can send it to him via USPS. (Also a shotgun) Q: May a nonlicensee ship a firearm through the U.S. Postal Service? A nonlicensee may not transfer a firearm to a non-licensed resident of another State. A nonlicensee may mail a shotgun or rifle to a resident of his or her own State or to a licensee in any State. The Postal Service recommends that long guns be sent by registered mail and that no marking of any kind which would indicate the nature of the contents be placed on the outside of any parcel containing firearms. Handguns are not mailable. A common or contract carrier must be used to ship a handgun. 15. $120 with the extra %25 off. excellent tent and REI will always make it right if theres a problem. http://www.rei.com/product/878559/kelty-grand-mesa-3-tent-2014-closeout roomy and good ventilation with a full fly make this an excellent 3 season 2 person plus gear tent. also, it's rugged and is not particularly garish with the colors, as some tents are. the REI brand tents are excellent as well... i have one over 20 years old and it's still bombproof. a bit more money, but i don't think you can buy a better tent than the Halfdome or the quarter dome for the money.
  16. i know a guy that basically built one in his attached garage. his BOV remains stored in it and inside the BOV are his BOBs containing many of the things listed above. it's interesting to note that his cell phones, car radio, ham radio, FRS etc simply do not work inside the cage. basic mesh construction. I don't know him well enough to get into the details of his construction or cost, but seemed like a clever idea for someone that is concerned about it. who knows if it would be effective or not.
  17. biggest problem with the G is that it made me much less satisfied with the other triggers i have. it is truly a pleasurable and worthy upgrade that few upgrades can compete with. agree with above. a boatload of ammo wont make up for a good trigger. and if you want precision, the G is a good choice (one of the best), but only one of many parts of the equation.
  18. would love to attend.... checking my calender
