  1. but while we were sleeping, the beast reared it's ugly head again..... don't be too hasty to dismiss the determination of some of those in power... slow, steady and quiet movement of unpopular 'ideaology' remains very real.... http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/lautenberg-renews-push-to-shut-gun-show-loophole-2009-04-21.html +++++++++++++++++++++++++ lest we sleep away our rights as citizens and awake to find we are subjects...
  2. changed address (moved 2 miles). I went in for renewal. they confiscated my current HCP (very unhappy about that) which did not expire for another year. the waiting began. so far 3 months and counting. have the piece of paper, but am a little anxious to get the actual HCP. Went in to request duplicates and they said no dice, as noted above, need current passport, etc and fill out additional paper and submit for long wait. just my experience so far...
  3. the G23 is an outstanding tool. it is not sexy. it is not macho, but it is versatile, very hard to break and it works every time. can carry anything at any price point, and this is my goto sidearm for all but ultra concealed carry. Sleeve a few G22 mags and you have a strong sidearm kit. the XD is running right there with it...
  4. agree with most. Bushnell Holosight. much cheapers, very tough, just can't drive a truck over it like the EOtech... I have and use both, and would be very comfortable staking my life on the Bushnell... robust, bright, accurate, easy to power (AA batts), watertight, even function when lens is cracked or broken... and you may never need to upgrade from there... lest you are a PC and heading to the sandbox... IMHO...
  5. XD or XDm 9 sc. every time.
  6. yep... pull the grips and run the whole gun wet with brake cleaner. Acetone is fine too. The grips may clean up with the non-chlorine based gun cleaners, not sure.
  7. top shelf. worth every penny.
  8. ok, thanks! anyone else want to add their 2 cents?? i appreciate the feedback. j~
  9. Gents Have a odd question presented to me and i don't know the answer so i thought i'd present to the collective knowlege here. I assume that at some point, a barrel of any length in any caliber (assuming quality ammo) will not need a flash hider to hide flash. I see barrels under 18 in. and under with hiders, but rarely lest it's a true military configured rifle... Rarely see FH on 308 bolt rifles, but typically on tactical semi auto types. My question is: in a 5.56/223 rifle, at what length do i have to bring the Barrel to to eliminate the need for a flash hider. Do i need one at all on an 18 in.? or on a 20 in.? assuming military grade ammo... thanks for your feedback.
  10. experience here is that you must set up an acct with them, (and i'm told they do not sell to the general public in order to protect their regional dealers, which is respectable IMO) place your order at least a couple of days before you plan to pick up. They are an outstanding group of folks. With the current climate on stuff they sell, they are a little slammed and working very long days, so be patient.
  11. crossbreed.com... love their stuff. very forward thinking.
  12. couple of thoughts... in my experience, they work fine when all is well, you are relaxed and not in a hurry... add anxiety, stress response (sweety hands) and a healthy dose of urgency, and things can become dicey. I know spinning a dial or punching a keypad/fingerpad can as well, it can overcome the one thing the biometric cannot, the stress response/sweety hands... just my humble opinion~
