  1. Another option might be to just use a regular AC TV run off an inverter.  Especially if he already has a small TV.  That way it works in the hunting van, or at home.  If he doesn't already have one, small LCD/LED TV's are pretty cheap these days.
  2. Prayers said for you and your family. God knows the specifics!
  3. Prayers sent! Keep us posted as you can.
  4. Glad you had a good visit!
  5. Congratulations! And you also get points for the creative announcement.  That was cool. I bet those two will be his/her best friend!
  6. I'm sorry for your loss.  Thoughts and prayers for you and for your family!
  7. Great story! Thanks for sharing it with us!
  8. Haven't yet, but will before the end of the month.
  9. They look like they're made for each other!
  10. Nice.  Can't wait to see it finished with scales!
  11. Congratulations! And great job being patient waiting for the right door to open.
  12. We've had over 3 inches so far today with more on the way.  In West TN, near Millington.
  13. Congratulations! Sounds like you're planning on spoiling him just like any good grandparent should!
  14.   About 10 years ago some of the great grandkids asked my grandmother (she was in her early 90's at the time) what life, especially Christmas was like when she was a child (she was born in 1912).  She said she tried not to remember those days because they were so hard!  This while the great grandkids were opening so many Christmas presents they couldn't even keep up with what they received.  Most of us really have no idea what it was like back then.
  15. Great story and fascinating history lesson.   Your parents (like my grandparents and parents) clearly came from a generation that just did whatever they had to do to survive, without expecting anyone else to take care of them. Good lessons there for a bunch of folks today.   Thanks for sharing your story with us!
  16. Thanks for posting! We have 2 rescues now, and they are definitely our kids.  That video was incredible.  I've never seen that one before.
  17. Great story. Thanks for your service, and thanks for sharing your memories!
  18. When I saw the title I assumed this was going to be about cooking outside, eating with friends, etc. While that might have been an interesting story, the reality was so much better!   It's amazing what can happen when an adult takes a little extra time with a child!   A friend sent me a link recently to an old Jerry Clower story with a similar lesson that I had never heard before, "Little Red". This isn't a great recording since it sounds like it was recorded from an old vinyl record, but it's still worth the time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3R9q4gObQQE If the link doesn't work just search youtube for Jerry Clower and Little Red.   Thanks for sharing your story!
  19. Local Wal-Mart had some last week.  I walked by the counter and saw CCI and 22 on the label and nearly shouted from excitement.  Then I realized it was just the shot shells instead of regular ammo.  Still, it's the first 22 in any form I've seen at Wal-Mart in over 18 months.  I know they get it in, but since I have to work for a living I can't go stand in line at 6:00 am.
  20. Beautiful pictures and beautiful fish.  Looks like you had a great time! When you can, you really should do a quick write up and post it.  I know I would love to hear more details about it. Thanks for sharing the photos.
  21. Good for you! Sounds like you're making great progress.  It's always encouraging when you can actually see concrete results! I work in healthcare (non clinical) and I'm amazed at how many folks refuse to take any personal responsibility for their own health and well being.  So many just seem to expect the doc to give them a prescription to "fix" whatever goes wrong.  I think most of the population could be in better health with the same small steps you're taking; eating better and getting more exercise.      Great job Vontar!  I hope you can tell a difference in how you feel and how much energy you have, along with the improved lab results.
  22. I've never seen that one before.  That was awesome.  Thanks for posting the link.
  23. Prayers said for both of you!
  24. Congratulations to both of you! I hope you had a wonderful day and were able to spend it together doing something fun!
  25. Lost my dad in Feb of this year at the age of 80, so I feel your pain.  Prayers said for you and your family! I suspect his granddaughter will treasure that truck.  What a neat story.  Thanks for sharing it with us.
