  2. Great story. Just make sure you write some of those down now while you remember the details. Those will make some priceless memories in years to come.

    New job!

    That's great news. Congratulations.
  4. Jeff, Here's a link to the TWRA site that lists all of their shooting ranges, if you want to include them. Not gun shops, but they are additional places to shoot for those that live nearby. Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - Firing Ranges
  5. That's great. I just sent it to several friends.

    TGO MAP

I just added mine. Definitely interesting to see where folks are from. Thanks.
  10. This is a great idea, thanks. Here's another one to add to the list. I've bought several new guns from them over the last year or so. They're good guys to deal with. 51 Pawn Shop 14382 Hwy 51 Atoka, TN 38004 901.837.2274

    Quality of the Judge

I bought 1 early this year. It's definitely too big and bulky to try to carry concealed. But it is a blast to shoot, and I haven't had any problems out of mine at all. Whether you'll be happy with it probably depends on your expectations and your intended purpose for the gun.
  12. My suggestion is to try to shoot as many of your options as possible before you buy. Last year I was in a similar situation. I didn't like the blocky look and feel of the Glock, but couldn't decide for sure what I did like. One of the local ranges had about 4 or 5 different 9mm pistols in their rental case. So I rented a lane, paid my $10 to rent, and shot a mag or 2 from each one. Originally I wasn't even going to shoot the Glock, but I still had some time left after shooting the others, so I bought another box of ammo and took the Glock back to the range. That Glock 26 felt better in my hand, and I shot it better than anything else I tried that day. So the next week I went and bought a Glock 26, and I've been very pleased with it. Now the range didn't have an XD so I haven't had the chance to compare those 2 head to head. Good luck with whatever you choose.
  13. I went early Sat morning. My biggest complaint with the show at the Agricenter is that parking is a pain and the room isn't big enough for all of the tables. As soon as it got a little crowded you couldn't even walk down some of the aisles. I did buy 1 box of ammo at a decent price, but I saw bulk packs of 22 ammo priced 50% higher than Wal-Mart! I actually did buy a pistol that I've been looking for, it was only about 10-15 bucks higher than it should have been, but since nobody locally has had one in over 6 months I bought it anyway. And they did have several new vendors I haven't seen before. All in all, it wasn't great, but it was better than the last few I've attended.

    keltec .32

I bought a Kel-Tec P32 last summer. I've fired several hundred rounds through it of both solid and hollow points. So far I haven't had a single problem. It's been utterly reliable. And the size sure is nice for times when I can't easily carry something bigger. Around here they're getting pretty scare too. Some of the local stores always had 2 or 3 of them, even just a few months ago. But I haven't seen a single one in a case in the last 3 weeks. Go for it if you can find one.
  15. Welcome to TN and to TGO. You may have to go online for the 380 ammo. Doesn't seem to be very much in the stores here.
  16. I think in my class, out of 7 folks, including at least 2 who had never fired a handgun before, everybody passed easily. You shouldn't have any problems at all.
  17. I've bought a couple of things at G&A in the last 6 months. I've learned that if the parking lot is full I usually don't even stop. And unfortunately it's that way most of the time these days. As other folks have said, the older fellow behind the revolver counter is always friendly, pleasant and helpful. And a couple of the folks on the main side are ok once you've been in there enough times that they "kind of" recognize your face. I usually start the conversation by reminding them of the last thing I purchased. But there are still a couple of guys that I just avoid. They're always obnoxious and unfriendly. Unfortunately they still have absolutely the best selection of any gun shop in this area. I go there to look, handle, and check prices, but if I can find it at Classic Arms, Range USA, or Brighton Arms, at a reasonable price I'll buy it there instead. If you live in north Shelby County or in Tipton County, 51 Pawn Shop in Atoka has a decent selection. And Dan and Micah in there are real helpful.
  18. Thanks for the nice welcome folks. eapking - I love the G26. It's a little thick for concealed carry for me, or at least I haven't figured out a way that works for me yet. But I do love the way it handles and shoots. I just need to use it a little more and get a good holster.
  19. I just stumbled across this site a few days ago. I'm glad to have found some semi-local folks who share some of the same interests. I live in Shelby County outside Memphis. I've shot 22's for years, but only recently picked up a Glock 26 and have started shooting it quite a bit, usually at Range USA, once in awhile at Top Brass in Millington. Lots of good information here. Thanks, Charles.
