I would not want to carry a 5" 1911. Get a Commander size, 4.25"...specifically a DW CBOB.

Where's T-Town? If you're near Collierville TN there's a great boot shop in the old town square, Hewlett & Dunn I think. Have some good belts for carry. I have 2 from there.

+1 on all the 1911 criteria. I wished I'd had someone steer me towards a 1911 before I bought all this CR_PPY plastic. Now all I want to shoot is my 1911. It's like someone told me recently: "There's 1911's and then there's everything else".

Yeah, at the one I referred to, the sign is very subtle. It's a faded almost translucent sticker. Print is incredibly small. As far as the UofM area, true that. Be armed for sure.

I'd avoid models without a slide stop. I'd say a G26, but that might be a little thick for you.
