  1. I'll bet you never see Glock make a 1911. That would be like admitting Gaston can't hold JMB's jockstrap.
  2. I'd recommend the Youth class at Range USA...since I see yer from 'round these parts.

    S&W M&P headache...

+1 on this. As silly as it may sound, sending it back to SW probably would have gotten it back to you in working order much faster. I've done so for light striking and it's been flawless since. I'm 'knocking on wood' for the dry fire issue. I've done it a few times, but mostly use snap caps.
  4. I went Saturday. It was so-so. Didn't hear about the breakins, and fortunatley I wasn't one of them. Yeah, this no guns thing is a bit ironic. Perfect place for thieves to scout out loaded cars.
  5. Oh yeah...get yourself some brass punches and a nylon/hard rubber hammer. No kidding on the hammer.
  6. FWTIW...some MK3 instructions here. Not sure how close they are to the 2. I've done the 3 myself. Once you've got the trick down near the end of reassembly you'll do it better the next time. Good vids on YouTube and Ruger itself. Also...Mark III Fieldstripping Procedures
  7. Here's a good forum dedicated to the dark side... Glock Talk Home
  8. Post a pic and maybe that will help the G experts here.
  9. Just cut to the chase and get a "real" 1911. You will never look at your polymers the same way again.
  10. My condolences.
  11. That was great...and really accurate.
  12. I think if I were looking at it from a collector perspective, I'd go with a Colt.
  13. Just got my 3rd DMB holster in about 5 weeks wait. Their quality is pretty good. Like the Dual Carry model (like OS has in his avatar).
  14. G26 here too. Good carry gun. Being 9mm, I would look into some good JHP's.
  15. This is a good site that has a lot on Rugers (Mark I, II, and III). Lot's of good info there. RimfireCentral.com - Hobby and Info Source For All Rimfire Caliber Ammo and Firearms
  16. I watched a video of Doug last week, which prompted my email to him. The video was posted here somewhere. Doug actually thinks that people will walk into a place and ask questions (at the door) about what their liquor license is, or look it up on the internet before going in. How crazy is that? Is this really practical? What other (Southern) states have better carry laws in this regard, 'cause I may have to move there?

    1911 options

I'd go with a DW Commander Bobtail, if you can find one. In 2010, the new DW Valor Bobtail (it's replacement). Bobtails = carry.
  18. Hex, I wrote Doug an email late last week. He took a few days to reply. He was just on NRA (Cam & Co.) tonight. You can tell he's irritated at those of us who've written criticizing the new legislation he's proposing. I thought my email was fairly tame, and short. I just questioned the need to distinguish between a "beer only place" and one that serves liquor. In his reply he said that allowing carry in a "honky-tonk" is never going to fly politically. I think he'll get back to you. We'll see where this goes.

    S&W Warranty?

Great customer service on my one experience.
  20. Roses may not help.
  21. Welcome. Need more ladies here.
  22. Welcome aboard. East TN is truly that.
  23. Good for you man. Keep on rockin'.
  24. It's a fair question Hex. Not sure I have an answer.
  25. The Valor is and the VBOB will be true forged frames, not a casting. The Guardian (GBOB) 9mm will be alloy frames. Not sure what to say about the price increase there (in comparison to the current CBOB). Is DW taking some risks here...for sure, but if you know the kind of shop they are, they probably needed to attempt this move. They are not mass production and never will be. Being the niche player was nice for a while, but I don't think they could have held that position for long. They're attracting new fans daily. Just check out the DW subforum on this 1911 site. Always has the most attendees. 1911Forum - Powered by vBulletin
