  1. S&W makes good 1911's with external extractors. Unless you're a 1911 purist, don't let that stop you. JMB will not come and haunt you.
  2. OMG...here comes the Wild West!
  3. I got what I made into a range bag at Lowes. It's a heavy duty tool bag basically. I like it cause the floor is very thick and will stand up to a couple of guns and 500 rds of ammo without sagging. Plus, I'm not big on logo'd bags a la the Glock.
  4. Sounds right. They might cut you a break on the transfer fee to the G&A on Summer. I think ordinarily G&A is pretty high on transfers, like $100? Could be wrong here. Would be curious to hear how it goes, if...
  5. Good people at Arms Fair in Cordova. Kind of a small selection. You might get lucky though. They usually have some 1911's around. I'd definetly use them for any transfers. They are the cheapest in town.
  6. Yeah, don't do like John Travolta did in Pulp Fiction and leave your Uzi out on the kitchen counter when you take a dump. Take it in there with you. He gave Bruce Willis a freebie.
  7. Oh, I love the one in MS. Good people, decent selection, but not compared to the stockpile on Summer.
  8. Don't know about that side of the state, but here in the "drain-hole" you cannot find 10mm.
  9. Link, your best bet is Guns & Ammo on Summer...as far as being able to walk in and maybe find one. Then you get to put up with their 'tude. I would not trade your M&P unless you have little choice.
  10. I've heard too many love/hate stories on Kimbers. I hear very little SA hatin'. If those are your two choices, I'd go SA.
  11. I can do Nashville, but Chatt works as well. I'm in the arm pit of TN. I'm always looking for an excuse to travel.
  12. Think you have to have a member sponsor you, or vouch for your abilities/sanity or something. I would not mind joining either. I really get tired of indoor ranges.
  13. +1 here. I for one have not seen the particular thread being quoted here. I'd prefer to stay on the shooting topics myself. But sometimes it's a little thread-bare (pun intended). So I'll go over to the political ones and I've been kicked a time or two. A couple of times I deserved it. Don't go.
  14. You handled it well, aside from not locking the door to begin with. Ever seen Full Metal Jacket...the scene with Private Pyle's unlocked footlocker? Well...
  15. As someone else pointed out in another similar thread, a Pearce mag extension (slanted bottom) kind of plays like a 1911 bobtail, in terms of printing. You get a similar effect. Some folks find the extra pinky room helps their shooting. Personally I don't see much difference in my own shooting experience. Now, I find it a bigger help in getting a good handle on the draw.
  16. I've talked with people who claim they had never even shot before, break 70%. You have to be horrible to blow the shooting portion. Tell your mom not to worry about the written. It's real easy. As OhShoot said, the drivers license written is much worse. Where I took it the instructor was "very kind" in pointing out the "testable" material. Need I say more?

    HD and CCW handguns

    Could not resist huh OS?
  18. Just look at Va. Tech. Pretty sure that a__hole used a .22.
  19. WHO DAT???? SAINTS WIN!!!! TOLD YA!!!!!
  20. Good pics. Thanks for the effort. Think you've got 9mm covered pretty good now.
  21. Jack, ya beat me to this one. +1.
  22. Glocks can fire underwater. No worries.
  23. I would tend to agree with CK1 here. If you're looking for total reliability you cannot beat a Glock. That being said, I still like my M&P's trigger better and the fact that it shoots a lot better. Since getting a little work done on my M&P it's been flawless and I have not hesitated to carry it. Alternate between the two. Now...when my VM2 holster comes in, I'll be carrying my 1911 a lot more than the other two. I like the fact that S&W has started putting thumb safeties on the newer M&P's. Mine's an original so it behaves just like the Glock. I might be wrong, but I'm wondering if the LEO's are liking the thumb safety, which you ain't gonna see on a Glock anytime soon. Plus S&W is made in the good-old USA!!!
  24. Huh, that's funny. And it's not sitting on much that's for sure. I just wonder if it's even possible for it to disengage when it's all buttoned up. I might ask a Glock 'smith about it.
  25. Thought I saw something from Shot Show about this a week or so back. I swear they said the thumb safety worked the opposite of a typical 1911. Could be wrong, but if that's true, I don't think it's a smart design.
