  1. I'm still going to write-in Ramsey, even if he's not the Repub in Nov.
  2. Beat me to it Greg. A 29-2 or earlier is the way to go. You might pay about the same for a new 29, but the old ones are superior. With the dash 2 you wil get a pinned bbl and recessed cylinders. After dash 2 you will not see that.
  3. Ronnie still got a problem with the roads around his complex? Maybe Zach said he'll fix it.
  4. At the risk of dragging along another thread that won't die... It sounds like you're doing the right thing. It pays to be patient during 1911 break-in, and follow what they advise. Doesn't sound like you're freakin' over the ftf's....that's good. It will come around. By 500 (or so) you should be "clean" and be able to trust it for carry.
  5. Not a big fan of Rem Oil, especially as a cleaner. Hoppes 9 cleaner and FP-10 lube myself.
  6. Drive thru window.
  7. I dunno, if I want to look at a lot of cool guns, I just go to Guns & Ammo on Summer. Admission is free. The show I went to in DeSoto county a few months back was better than any I've gone to at the Agricenter.
  8. +1. A very sad event for all involved.
  9. Yep, I think it's that subconscious waiting on (shoot until) slide-lock. When you have 17+ semi auto mags and then drop down to a six shooter you tend to forget to count.
  10. Aside from old S&W Revolvers, I can think of no other style handgun that warrants obsessive collecting.
  11. While I might go, these have been fairly disappointing overall (Agricenter ones).
  12. Hard choice between 1 & 4. Went for 1 (Kegger)
  13. I'm kind of surprised how poorly some of these guys are doing (this season). Saw one guy almost miss the "vote off target" one week. Nerves on camera? Time for some Class 3 competition. Some of these shows were a bit boring.
  14. Read in the Commie Appeal the other day that according to someone, the shooter stuck the gun in the victim's mouth prior to the evetual shooting. If this is true, I can't see how this ends up being justifiable.
  15. That'd be "King Willie", for sure.
  16. and they keep voting him back in...idiots.
  17. Ya got good taste dude.
  18. Be that as it may, still should not have even been "for temporary residence".
  19. Good article. Some folks are starting to wake up finally. This constant race card throwing by the left, at anyone with a different opinion is just pathetic. I happens here in Memphis all the time. Former Mayor Herenton wrote the book on it. He's using similar tactics now against Steve Cohen. His angle is: 'if you're not black you are not qualified to represent the district'. If a white candiate used this argument, the press would have a pointy sheet over his head and he'd be hung out to dry. Folks, racism is racism no matter the color of the bearer.
  20. Out of the box, looser (i.e. cheaper) 1911's tend to be more reliable. Many of the high end 1911's are so tight they need several hundred rounds to loosen up and get rid of the minute trash on the rails. So, yes a lot of them recommend a break-in period (500 rds min.). Now if you want to call that defective "out of the box", so be it. I don't mind going thru the break-in period (and cost). A 1911 is fully capable of being depended on for full-time carry. They can also be less bulky than some of the subcompact, double stack, tupper-guns.

    Ain't. No. Way!

Ouch! Ever see "A Man Called Horse"? Richard Harris gets his Native American initiation similarly.
  22. Colt made the original 1911. Today there's plenty of 1911 "pattern" makers. Don't think that if it's not a Colt it's not good. There's plenty of folks who think there's many better 1911 options that Colt (me for one). Here's a 1911 site that I cut my teeth on for about 3 months before I got my first one. Good luck. 1911Forum - Powered by vBulletin
  23. He didn't really say why he joined, but said that he left because he didn't like the direction MAIG had taken (or something to that effect). It's the same thing he said to me. This is his stock answer. He doesn't really explain what that direction was (i.e. Gun Control).
