  1. This might finally get me to buy one.

  3. See, I don't need mine to be fancy. A folding stock is a plus, but side rail is a must for a red dot.
  4. Yeah, I have some notifications set up on the Russian red. As soon as it does, I'm on it.
  5. According to AK Operator's Union, the PSA AK is no joke legit. Great barrel and great material. Also looks like they took all the positives of all the various versions and rolled them into one. One of his most accurate he has. I'm waiting for the Russian Red to come back in stock.
  6. The VZ.58 are great rifles. Outstanding, actually. Just remember, they are their own system. Worth the buy tho.
  7. DDI, Lee Armory, Definitive Arms, Arsenal, and pretty much anything on Copper Custom website. He only stocks the finest.
  8. I'm with you there. I have been a long time AR guy. I've built nearly 20 to date. I love the "Lego" aspect of them. They are a great fun to shoot and you can get sub MOA with then. They are great guns. Then there is the AK. While not very modular nor the most accurate (yet it is practically accurate and can reach out to 300m accurately enough), it is a very fun gun to shoot. It's very hard to describe it. It's just a fun gun to shoot. And let's not forget the reliability of the platform. It'll spit just about anything you feed it. Mall in all, I'm in the same boat. I own an Arsenal SAM-7 and took it for a spin about a month back and just fell in love. Previously, it was one of those "I don't have an AK, guess I need one" situations. Now it's my favorite rifle. All in all, I'm with you. I have an Arsenal 5.45 now on layaway too. You're not alone in this. Now I too am going to be parting with my money.
  9. If they don't, I'm sure we can get the shop that first made Tavor 300blk to look into going into production with them. Also, Gearhead Werks is also a local company so we'd be supporting a TN company.
  10. How did I miss this thread this whole time?! I was a die hard AR guy who's now a die hard AK guy. Just getting my first 5.45 too. Put an SLR-104FR on layaway last week.
  11. Any new AK purchases? I have a Arsenal SLR-104FR on layaway through K-Var. I'm taking advantage of their 90 day layaway. Anyone gonna try the Dead Air Wolverine AK can?
  12. I think the 300blk is more likely to happen now that the Israelis are testing the round for battlefield use. They have barrels in full manufacture as well. The biggest hold up here in the US is Remington. Israel wants 50k proof loads and Remington doesn't want to produce. That's the biggest hold up. They have the barrels. Israel is testing the round for adoption. Remington proof loads is the massive hold up. I have been in pretty close contact with them through both IWI US and a supplier.
  13. Anyone tried filing post 41F?
  14. I eventually called. Basically the ATF agent told me to break the law. If the jail that my can is in won't let me use a new address (which my class 3 dealer are all ass holes) then to keep my old DL and just use that. Otherwise, they may require me to file my 5320.20 then wait for the response before picking it up. Wish we cad a better NFA dealer.
  15. As we all know, NFA items take far too long to process. That was just increased with 41F. Now we are looking at a year. Well, life goes on while we wait. Sometimes those changes are big. In my case, I'll have a child by then and will have a change of address. That leads me to my next question. What do we do when we have a change of address (within the state) while waiting on a Form 4? Notify the ATF before hand? Mine won't be approved this year. It was submitted 7/12 and check cashed a week later.
  16. I use it and own3 different safeties. Of the Manticore and HB, this one is my favorite.
  17. Personally, I love the Gear Head Works reverse safety. http://www.shop.gearheadworks.com/Scorpion-reverse-safety-lever-SCO-revsftyRH.htm
  18. I like it. I'm still working the bugs out of this one. The upper, lower, and hand guards were involved in a low temp shop fire. They weren't directly in flames and were thoroughly MPI and quality inspected. They were all found uneffected. That inspired the finish on it. It's all cerakote. I had some feed issues, but that's primarily an issue with the feed ramps on this rifle. It is chambered in 300blk. Other than that issue and everything on this build was tight tolerances, it's fine. Better images of the finish:
  19. I have one... Reciprocating, but haven't shot it yet. I was trying to go for a rugged AK style AR. This one has stories.
  20. Don't know if y'all have heard, but Silencer Shop has given an estimate on Form 1/4s filed in June-July 12-18 month turnaround.
  21. Welcome from Cordova!
  22. You can get them from your local police station.
  23. While not really survival, Harry Turtledove, the alternate history guy, has 2 great books out on an alternate Cold War that's not so cold.
