Fear The Walking Dead (Los Angeles spinoff)
Titansfan replied to monkeylizard's topic in General Chat
Viewed the premier last night. It was a slow start and I was disappointed the the cause or orgin on the microobe or virus is still unknown. If we recall in TS-19 episode in Season One of TWD, Dr. Jenner stated that the virus came out several weeks prior to the global outbreak. There was a kid in the school that had suspecion that something was going on and he was dismissed, only to be thought to be right. I go to thinking that in today's Internet, Infowars, Drudge and other like sites would be reporting on a mysteries virus long before an outbreak. -
This morning I stood guard at the recruiting center in Paris, TN. Made contact with the leaders of the guard duty, whom are in a group called the Oathkeepers (for which, I am not a member), I told them I'd do the duty Friday morning (today). Duty was simple was sitting out front of the center. The guard leaders requested that long guns not be seen, but whatever I had in my truck was fine. I had my AR-15 with three 30-round magazines available. I do have my permit to carry and carry concealed with my shirt over my Glock 17. As the office opened, I met with the Army recruiters, a SGT and SSG both with combat patches, one with a CIB. The SGT has the CIB but hasn't put it on, he also has a Purple Heart. They expressed their appreciation for me and told me to make myself at home. While at my station, a man in a truck drove up and got out with a bottle of cold water and thanked me for what I was doing. When the recruiters departed, I left since I was not going to be there to guard an empty building, I am there to protect the recruiters. I did not have any negative feedback or comments while I stood guard.

I've been in contact with the team/group leaders whom are providing security at the recruiting office in Paris. They are of the oathkeepers group, but not all those pulling security are members of the oathkeepers. They have invited me to pull guard duty tomorrow and I plan to be there. The team leader asked if I have a rifle to keep out of view (keep in my vehicle) have a permit to carry and it's my decision to carry concealed or openly. He also advised against wearing tactical items such as body armor and etc.

I saw photos of guards with long guns and knowing that open carry of long guns is not permitted in TN. But was one pointed out, the property is private owned and no one complains so be it. I have inquired via text message and email if the recruiting offices close to me (Paris and Union City) if citizens are providing services and not received any confirmation. I'd join them if I had the contact information of a group leader. I'd hate to run over to those locations going out of my way.

Pastor shot, returns fire in North Nashville
Titansfan replied to monkeylizard's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Thankful the pastor took the advice on the Book of Luke to sell his cloat to buy a sword. -
Saw it on the news tonight that D. Roof's gun was purchased illegally and he should have failed the background check. He had a felony arrest 2 months before purchase of the .45 caliber handgun. Unless I am mistaken, had the youngster been to court and matter resolved? If so, at the very least, he would have been on a Judicial Diversion and been on probation, background check would have caught it. FBI Director was complaining that the 3 day waiting period in South Carolina was not enough time. I figure something is up and now the battle flag if down, elected Conservatives (what's left of them) are on the ropes and since it's a hot issue go after the guns too. Prior to the Brady Bill, there wasn't background checks on long guns in TN, but became part of background check after the bill went into effect. Anyone remember the 15 day waiting period on handguns? I am concerned the waiting periods will return......

Carrying into someone's home?
Titansfan replied to Grayfox54's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Going to someone's house, I'd carry or leave in my vehicle. When I get a ride in a vehicle that belongs to another, I inform prior to getting in. If I plan to be drinking, my gun stays at home. -
Guess where you can not carry in SC….
Titansfan replied to timcalhoun's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I carry at church. If a gun-buster sign goes up at the church I attend; my membership will go elsewhere. Gun-buster signs go up on all churches, then I'll catch the service via Internet or radio. -
She turns 21 in mid-November. She and I will depart for Utah during first week of January.
-
Thanks I called Range USA in Jackson and verified the online registration is not require prior to taking the safety/shooting class. It was advised she take the class next month or in August, in November, do the online registration and complete the rest of the process.
-
I have had my permit since the late 1990's, so the question is not for me directly. My daughter will turn 21 in November and reading the Dept. of Safety website, she has go online to pre-register, take the class, get fingerprinted, complete application. Since I know that the class certificate is valid for 6 months, I wanted her to take the class this summer and then complete the application in November. Being she is not 21 at this time, can she complete the pre-registration (online) and complete the class? One may ask about my urgency. She turns 21 in November and in January, she will be part of the National Student Exchange program where she can attend the University of Utah in Salt Lake City (all while paying only the rate for UT Martin). Utah is one of the small handful of states where students can carry.

Has a small issue yesterday in Cookville!
Titansfan replied to bersaguy's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
This trend I do find alarming. According to wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cookeville,_Tennessee), the area is less than 4% African-American. I occupation places me on the road often and I have stopped or passed through Cookeville from time to time. Encounters like the orginial poster mentioned, I could see common in many areas of Memphis, North Highland in Jackson, the Crossing in Humboldt, Lakeview Circle in Martin, Eastgate in Union City....... but I would not be concerned when I am in East TN and most parts of Middle TN. As for my knowledge of this places mentioned; I take precautions and avoid those areas especially on Friday afternoons. -

I agree with some of the replies to call the Police afterwards, at least to CYA. I have been working with juveniles a long time and have seen more the 'pack' mentality and I am beginning to come to the theory that some youngsters believe, if they get shot, it's part of the culture and afterwards, TV/Media/Al Sharpton will make a marytr of their pathetic life. Having been through Cookville many times, I would suspect this encounter there as I would in Memphis. -
Memphis Gas Station Attack(video)
Titansfan replied to Erik88's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
My job takes me on Poplar Ave, sometimes once a month. Did anyone notice the gas station mgr/owner locked the door to keep the man evading the kids from safety? You can bet that I won't stop and shop there. I haven't stopped at any of those places in that area, choosing to make my restroom break or anything else at Exit 25 as I come into Shelby County. -
Anyone born in Tennessee can go to any Health Dept. in our state and have a certified birth certificate printed for about $7.

Watched "Talking Dead" and re-watched "Conquer". I was wondering about the Glenn vs. Nicholas encounter and like someone pointed out, Nicholas was luring Glenn out for ambush. They fought, Glenn came out on top, wonder how those two will go on. Abraham and Eugene patch things up. However, Eugene needs Abraham than Abe needs Eugene. Now that Reg is gone, Eugene maybe the one to step up in Reg's role. We all know the Wolves, will be the antigonist next season and we did meet two and Morgan's relunctance to deal for good the two at his campsite will come back to haunt latter. I wonder who many Wolves are out there? I assume there are more traps around too. One thing I observed, the first Wolf had an unloaded handgun. Are they that low in supplies? One thing is missing is someone with the moral compass.....will Morgan be that compass next season? Morgan meets Rick again, last meeting was at "Clear". Only for Morgan to show up has Rick terminates Pete. On the moral issues, both will be and different ends of the spectrum. With Pete gone, that leaves no one with any educated medical experiences. Carol has some basic know how; I assume she may step into that role. Will Deana still be in charge and have Rick as the "enforcer"? Or is Rick the Ricktator?

"What if the Wolves are the group that the 2 dudes in the bar were with in "Nebraska"?" I recall the episode, they said they traveled down I-95......which is next to Alexandria.
-
"have they ever shown or mentioned disposing of the deader walkers? Sasha plugged a bunch of them, who is carting them off? Maybe the Wolves are part of Alexandria? How is Deanna in charge? Stuff does not add up. Why would anyone follow her? Daryl would just as soon stay outside the walls. Michone needs to remember how to." There were dead walkers at the fences at the prison and only one time did we see the group burning the walker corpses. Maybe just one of those things we have to assume. I doubt the Wolves are part of Alexandria, but maybe part of them at one time. Deana stated during second episode of group's arrival in Alexandria, she exiled 3 men that "didn't work out" . Rick knows that throwing someone out is a bad thing. Exiled people know the layout of the community, strengths and weakenesses. If the Wolves were part of Alexandria, why would they venture off nearly 100 miles destroy Noah's community in Richmond and then backtrack towards Alexandria? Aiden mentioned that on supply runs, they clearned 53 miles if semi-circle. Why not cross the river to make supply runs in D.C and/or Maryland?

Episode “Try” Sasha: has gone off the deep end, but for the better, she may have hit rock bottom. I do agree with her view point of taking the “offense”. Almost 2 years into this scenario and the only “offensive” actions against walkers was by the Gov. and people of Woodbury. Rosita and Michone going to look for Sasha, only armed with a knife and a handgun? It really appears that Michone is burned out and like I pointed out with Sasha, she may have hit rock bottom saying she was “asleep”. Carl and Edin, Carl is trying to figure out this girl, and she is up to something. Get approached my herd of walkers and hide in a hollow tree???? They were lucky, walkers would have smelled them…..but it’s drama TV and have to show a “love” relationship. Carl is interested in next step in relationship, Edin is NOT interested. Darryl and Aaron are finding more evidence of the wolves. What gets me is that intelligence is not shared. Darryl was not in the group that visited the survivor community in Richmond, but Rick doesn’t bother to tell anyone about the dismembered bodies and the “W” carved on foreheads? Last but not least….Rick and his dealings with Pete. Or maybe I should call Rick …..Shane? Difficult for me to cheer for Rick since his motive is to “get some”, maybe Rick should listen to Naughty by Nature: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xGuGSDsDrM “O.P.P” Rick gets about bested by Pete????

I will be 49 next month. Paying the $750, will not be to my advantage.

“Spend” 3rd from last episode of the season, lots of action, suspense, most gory scene since 1st season. Rick’s group is correct of their assessment that current population of Alexandria is soft and incapable to take care of matters and Deena knows she needs Rick & Co. Probably the scene that irritated me the most was Gabriel’s treason of Rick & Co. I counted at least 3 times, Rick & Co. pulled Gabriel out of certain death (where they met on the rock) , the food bank (costing the life of Bob) and outside the church. I don’t think Gabriel understood, Deena soon won’t have the power to force Rick & Co. to leave, if she has not already lost that power. Rick and Pete conversation, Pete tried to intimidate Rick. I don’t think Pete has any idea what Rick can do….and may soon find out. Rick can use the justification of Pete being an abuser instead of being caught up in a love triangle. Carol…..stone cold killer Abraham, views the construction crew as ate up as a soup sandwich, takes over the construction. So now, we see Abraham in charge of building, Rick and Michone and police. Glenn will soon take over supply run. Darryl will run or co-run recruitment runs. Noah was beginning to come around, but his loss will not be a big factor. Good to see Eugene stepping up.

As "Talking Dead" pointed out, very ackward episode. Sasha's PTSD is going to get herself or other killed. Rick going after a married woman? When this goes bad, will Rick's group continue to follow him? Darryl is getting comfortable. Maggie and Rosita looking good. Carol will be the one to watch. Aaron suprised me, he was able to take care of himself outside the walls par to par with Darryl. Rick is right, the people in Alexandria don't have a clue what's going on outside.

"Just Wolves. Not werewolves. And I'm curious who the wolves will be. I'm pretty sure I already know who their leader is and what that means for our group but I'm curious which of the groups from the comics its going to be. " I stand corrected, it is Wolves. Watched the episode again after watching Talking Dead. When Rick was talking to the Congresswoman, he looked at the church steeple on the outside of the walls. I mentioned there was very little line of sight from the community, but allow a steeple that would be a vantage point for sniper and/or recon. I would be taking down that church ASAP. Talking Dead has nothing about the reserved teenage girl that is the wall jumper. She is totally up to no good. Darryl will be the one that has a hard time adjusting to the new community life.
