It was good to meet you also. Glad you liked the place, maybe we'll be able to get a group out here to shoot sometime. With any luck, I'll get everything bush hogged this weekend so I can plan out how much dirt work will have to be done for the range. I'll be running around trying to get all my ducks in a row to reload my first few rounds sometime this weekend, though.

One man's trash, is another man's treasure. Really glad you didn't care for it.

The only instructor I've heard mentioned that does that is Buford Tune. There's a photo of it around here somewhere...
-
He said the instructor's name was Chuck.

new bills that guns must be registered?

I'm guessing C&R inspection? -
After reading a bunch of posts, I figured I'd ask. What are the crazy, untrue gun related rumors you've heard lately? A guy at work was telling me about an instructor in Dickson that claimed Obama was going to prevent any new carry permits from being issued, and apply a 1,500.00 tax to all current ones. Then there's the ever popular "All ammunition will be serial numbered", along with "They're going to put a 500% tax on every bullet". Was talking with another guy, who told me that he filled his hollow point bullets with candle wax, because it made them expand better. I know y'all have heard some good ones, what are they?

Good luck with the move! Just curious, who did you work for?

DM Bullard makes a nice one for the P30.

new bills that guns must be registered?
56FordGuy replied to my82cam's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
On the national level, there was a bill introduced called HR 45 that would require gun registration. Last I heard, it was essentially dead and nothing to worry about. -
Not sure what part of the state you're in, but there's a place called The Safe House on 4th Avenue in Nashville. I haven't dealt with them, but have seen their setup at the Smyrna gun show, and a couple of folks have recommended them to me.

Sounds good. Just found a left handed Blackhawk Size 7 IWB holster, one of the nylon ones.

I'll take the 38 special brass. I'll offer up a right handed Fobus paddle holster for a 1911.

Might be 7mm Mauser? 8x57 is 8mm Mauser.

Phil Bredesen to (possibly) sit on carry bill.

That's how I understand it. The only way for it to not become law would be for him to veto it, and then the veto could be over ridden. -
So if the long gun bill passes...

It's interesting to see how times have changed. This is a page out of a Ford options catalog in the 70's, advertising the Ford Rifle Safe. http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w269/frostedford/page10.jpg I linked to it, because it's a rather large image. -
Yep, that's it! Thanks!

PRO Gun vs. ANTI Gun Business list
56FordGuy replied to whiskey's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I stopped by the GreenBerry's restaurant in Gallatin today. A friend and I had a good conversation with the owner, he seems very pro-gun. We talked about the carry laws currently working their way through the process, he seemed to be in favor of them all. Lunch wasn't bad, either. -
Do You Have Fun With Your Cheaper, Simpler Guns?
56FordGuy replied to DavidCBaker's topic in Handguns
Fancy, evil, black guns with optics, lasers, flashlights, and all sorts of whiz bang gadgets are a lot of fun. But there's just something about a .22 rifle that makes it just as much fun, to me. Two of my favorite rifles are a Remington Fieldmaster that my uncle gave me when I was born, and a Marlin/Glenfield Model 60 that I bought when I was 12 or so for about forty bucks. I have just as much fun shooting hedge apples with my .22 as I do tearing loose with the HK, and a whole lot of money left over, to boot. -
I need some help from the bluegrass music fans on here. I know we've got to have at least a few. Several months ago, I heard a song on the Sirius radio Bluegrass channel that I've been trying to find and can't. I don't recall the name, but I've searched for the lyrics on Rhapsody, Google, and even emailed the Sirius DJs. I still haven't been able to find the name of the song, or the group that does it. The lyrics I can remember are; "They're burning Georgia down, Smell the smoke and the cinders. They're burning Georgia down, But we never will surrender." Obviously, it's about Sherman's march during the war. If anyone can point me toward the name of the song, or the group, I'd be really grateful. Just for clarity, I'm not trying to find a pirated download or something. I'd like to buy the album, because I'd like to hear more from that group.

Grimel, glad to hear the rain's good for someone. I've got a field to bushhog, a yard to mow, and more fence to get put up. Too wet to do any of it...

I didn't realize that there were so many variations of the P30. I thought it was only available in one barrel length, in the DA/SA configuration. Learn something new every day. Mine is the standard DA/SA, and it does take some getting used to. That said, it's one of my top two favorite handguns. Save for one minor, nitpicky issue with the slide release (the right side one is kind of loose fitting, but works fine), I can't find much of anything to criticize, functionally.

Not my Jeeps, not my trailer. Text copied from a post on the military vehicles site linked above. Between 5 PM May 6 and 8 AM May 7 an enclosed vehicle transport trailer (made by Horton) was stolen from my dad, Everette Doyle in Brownsville, TN. Inside the trailer was a restored M170 and a rewelded M151A1. The M170 has a WeeBee top, is painted in Marine Corps colors and markings, and can be distinguished (in part) by the Red Cross markings NOT being painted on the tailgate. I can provide detailed descriptions of these if needed, or, if you have a copy of my book Field Guide to US Military Vehicles, the M170 shown in the book is the one stolen. If either of these vehicles are spotted, please contact the Brownsville Police Department at 731-772-1215. The exterior of the trailer is white, the interior is painted in a variety of colors. It is a tandem axle. I suspect that the goal of these folks was to steal the trailer, not the contents....and my dad is more concerned about the contents than the trailer. This was an enclosed trailer, tailgate is a ramp, tiedowns in the floor for securing the Jeeps. And truthfully, to dad the trailer isn't the big deal - the Jeeps inside are the big deal - and likely the crooks haven't a clue what they are other than "old army Jeeps". If you spot Jeeps matching these descriptions (the M170 in USMC markings without the tailgate red cross markings is pretty unique, and the 151 has a convoy light mounted on a radio antenna mount, and can identified by the fact that the cowl vent has been removed entirely.) The M170 carries registration number USMC 22887. The 151 has bumper numbers that begin 194 BDE - give me a little time and I'll find the hood numbers for it as well. If you spot such vehicles, call the PD at the number listed, and they will handle the matter. Again, not my Jeeps and not my trailer. I just hate a thief.

Really? I didn't realize that. Let me see if I can get the text portion.
