I've read several comments about this, and didn't want to derail those threads. Essentially, a lot of folks have stated that if a business posts a non- compliant "No Guns" sign, they'd just ignore it and conceal well. While that is technically legal, my question is why? The business has made a statement that they don't want your business if you're carrying. Personally, I tend to stay out of places that I'm not wanted, and keep my money with me. There are lots of places to go out to eat, I can find one that isn't posted. What's the flip side of this? Why ignore the signs, other than just because they're not legal?

what is on your adult beverage menu for the evening?

Tonight is Shiner Bock Bohemian Black Lager. Not bad. -
But wait...wasn't Obama just talking about the protests in Iran, saying something about dissent being important? Well now that doesn't make sense... Where are we going, and why are we in this handbasket? Oh, wait...I remember now...

Wjh, I think I see where you're going with this. But I think you may have misunderstood the posts regarding a long arm as the primary defense weapon. Given the choice, would you rather defend yourself with a handgun, or a rifle? I would choose the rifle, due to a better sight radius and more stability, which leads to a better chance of hitting my target, and only my target, on the first shot. I doubt anyone will be open carrying an AR to WalMart. I like the bill. I live on a fair amount of property, and in the last two years have had to deal with a few timber rattlers, copperheads, and coyotes. I usually throw my M1 Carbine in the truck/ on the tractor with me. Formerly, that was illegal unless I kept the box magazine unloaded. Now, I can legally put the loaded magazine in the rifle, so long as no round is chambered. I think that was the purpose of the bill, not so I could OC my rifle through Kroger just in case the world ended, and I think most folks understand that. Some folks will see a need to keep a long gun in their vehicle. I don't. Under different circumstances I might, but living where I do and going where I go my basic risk assesment doesn't lean toward needing one. This bill allows those who do feel a need to do so. I don't see how allowing us to excercise our rights more is a bad thing.

Plant guys? You mean you drive one of the tractors that mow the highways?

I can honestly say, I've never read this much about poo in my life. But, I do have a septic tank, so it might come in handy, someday?

Disposal of Confiscated Firearms HB2376 SB2334
56FordGuy replied to I_Like_Pie's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I looked over it, and have a question. I'm not familiar with what happens when a gun is taken from a criminal. I assume they check to make sure it's not stolen, before any type of disposal process begins? It would suck to have a gun stolen from you, only to see it later on the auction block. Otherwise, sounds great. I've gone to a few police auctions before, got some real deals. Makes much more sense to me than destroying the guns. -
The lumber market isn't doing too well, ya know. Maybe this is a stimulus that would actually work!

Just a note on the guns getting surface rust in the safe. Go to the local hobby store and get a bag of silica gel. It's used to preserve flowers and other plants, somehow. I'm not real clear on how all that works, but I do know they have it and it's cheap. A couple of bucks for a pound bag. Take it home and put it in a cloth container that can breath. An old sock, a t shirt sealed up, etc. It's the exact same thing as the desiccant packs you can buy at gun shows, and will absorb moisture, only a lot cheaper. Likewise, I've also heard good things about the Golden Rod dehumidifier systems, though I don't know much about them. Glad to hear you gave the old Colt a new home. Like the others, I'd recomend a professional reblue to do it up right.

Interested? Yes. Do I have a feasible way to go get it? No. Last I checked, it was 2.20- something at the local gas station, but it's been a week or two since I paid any attention. Check some local stations out, someone's bound to have it. Might try Craigslist?

I've used 0000 steel wool and oil to clean up light rust in the past. That might work for you, but I don't think you can get around a refinish of some kind.

TGI Friday's in Memphis on Winchester "no guns allowed"

Pretty sure they removed the age restriction. Any non- posted restaurant is okay after the 14th, from my understanding. -

Wow, that looks like a pretty big tree. Glad everybody is alright. Did it uproot, or just break off?

Still need the 9mm brass?

Agreed. I believe the primers are still in the factory boxes, they were just tossed in a larger box with the rest of the stuff. He wound up not coming out here today, planning on tomorrow now. I'll post pictures.

You've got a PM.

Whoo! Yeah! Take that, Wings! Seriously, that was an incredible game, the perfect end to a great series. The Wings played well, but the Pens pulled it off. Wow. Whoo!

Aaaahhhh! Lousy, pain in the rear Redwings! Who do they think they are, scoring? Down by one, 5 minutes left. C'mon, Pittsburgh!
-
I'll make it easy for you. NHL: We don't know yet. The Pens may do it, the Wings may score three in the next 8 minutes and change the whole thing. Life after People: Man made stuff collapses. See how easy that was?

Long story short, a buddy and I are getting into reloading together. He recently found us a shotgun reloading press, along with a bunch of primers. He's coming out tomorrow, we'll mount it to the bench then and look it over. My question is, what are the odds the primers are still safe to use? The folks he got the stuff from said they're from the late 80's/ early 90's, it's all been stored in a cardboard box in their closet. I don't know the brand of the press, primers, or anything yet, but should have more information tomorrow. Have shotgun loads changed much in the last...gosh, almost 30 years? Should current load data work with primers that old? What are the odds the primers will even still be good?

Game 7, 2-0 Pens going into the Third. Great series. Go Pens!

To a point, I feel the same way. Lately, following politics, especially from a conservative perspective, has become a real chore. This TARP, that bailout, Government Motors Chrysler, entertainment bunkers, carry here, carry there, it's in the Constitution but they decided that part doesn't apply to this part because of the other part over there...It's not easy to keep up with, and even harder to keep up with on a level where you can respond to it quickly, and even the best of us miss things. But what choice do we have? Sit back, close our eyes, and hope it all works out? Sounds nice, but as sure as we do, it'll wind up working out for the other side. One of our Founding Fathers made the statement "I have for you a Republic, if you can keep it." Freedom isn't free, etc. Keeping up with what your government is doing, and keeping in touch with your legislators, to me, is just as much your civic duty as jury duty, voting, etc. I guess what I'm driving at here, is that we've got to keep the pressure on, because the folks that want this bill, and the other gun bills, vetoed will keep the pressure on too. All that's required for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. I don't go out drinking, I haven't been to a public park in a few years, and have absolutely no intention of having a loaded long gun in my truck. But I'm still emailing, I'm still calling, I'm still leaning on my representatives. If we all just relax, and try to coast up this hill, we'll find ourselves going backwards in a hurry. Just a note, I don't intend this post to be aimed at Mike .357. It's simply my best shot at the general apathy I've been seeing and hearing with folks today. I didn't think it was that harsh. You should've heard what I had to say (and still do, frankly) about Mr. Bredesen and his entertainment bunker. You remember the one, the one under the Governor's Mansion that nobody lives in? Yeah...

I've been told Guns N Leather in Greenbriar has an MP5 that gets rented occasionally. Might be worth a call, if you're closer to there than Murfreesboro.
