  1. If she likes the P22, go with it...for now. Like the rest, I'd say she may not be so bothered by the calibers, but by the specific guns. A female friend of mine shot both my Glock 36 (in .45) and my full size 1911. She hated the Glock, but fell in love with the 1911. Same cartridge, but the difference in the specific guns made a huge difference. I actually looked at two Walthers today, the PPS and a P99 at Guns For America, right off Harding Place and I-65. They feel very similar to the P22, but both are in 9mm. You might have her try one of those?
  2. Wow, that's...something. Not a bad place for a bunch of lawyers...
  3. Sure, but I might have a better chance of hitting them if I just threw the whole round. I'm playing with the load, may extend the OAL just a bit. My last batch was a significantly tighter group, but still tumbling.
  4. Cabela's has the Lee Deluxe Turret Press kit for $109.00 plus shipping. A set of dies will add about $35.00. You will also need a set of calipers (I already had a set, so not sure on cost). Technically, you can reload like that, but you'll need to upgrade and add a few items to make it less of a pain in the rear. A powder trickler will be about $15.00, you'll need one. You can use the little scoop that comes with the die set, but it'll take a long, frustrating time to measure out a charge on the included scale that way. You'll also need loading books, the more the better. The Hornady book was about $35.00 when I bought mine. You'll want to buy a tumbler also, to clean yor brass. I think they're around $60.00, but shop around. You can reload like that, but it won't be a speedy process. At some point, you'll want to add a case trimmer. The Lee kit comes with part of a case trimmer, but you need to buy the caliber- specific bits to fit it. You can prime your brass on the Lee Turret press, but you may want to add a Lee hand priming tool. I'm sure I've forgotten something, but if so someone will point it out shortly. I'd allow for $250.00- 300.00 for start up stuff, depending on what specific stuff you buy, shopping around, having to buy components, etc...
  5. I probably read about the J hooks, then confused myself. I thought the bend on the bottom of the standard hook was designed for OWB use. That said, I've begun properly using the standard clips (over the belt), and it still fits great.
  6. Say what? I don't know why, but for some reason I thought they were meant to go under the belt. Could've sworn I read that somewhere, but I've been wrong before. In that case, I've been doing it wrong for a while now, and the holster still fits great. How can you argue with results like that?
  7. On OhShoot's indirect recommendation (he really liked his), I bought a DM Bullard Dual Carry for my H&K P30. It took 5 weeks from ordering to arrive, which isn't bad for a left handed holster for a gun that isn't too common yet. Not rare, but I haven't seen a lot of holster options. Break in on my Dual Carry was a job, but I've never owned a good holster to compare it to. For the first few days, it was like having a solid piece of plywood under my belt. Likewise, it took some tinkering for me to find the best body position for me to wear it in. Once I got over the learning curve, and it got broken in a bit, I love it. One nice thing about the Dual Carry is that the supplied clips are designed to go between your belt and your pants. I'm very happy with mine.
  8. Looks great! Have you gotten to shoot the PS90? Is the ejection lefty- friendly?
  9. I want to get your opinion on my press being slightly out of line, too. As for what time, no clue. Yesterday I was home about 4:30, today I got home about 6:00. I'll text you when I have an idea.
  10. Castrol 10W-30 in the truck, both tractors, and the lawnmower, because it was on sale. I don't buy into the fancy add ons, high mileage, low wear, super crud scrubber stuff. Keep it changed often, and you'll usually be fine. Put 305,000 on a truck that way, put 164,000 on another truck like that, put about 3K on my current truck. Changed every 3K, oil and filter.
  11. Just let me know, I'm usually around. Changed the oil in the tractor tonight, hoping to get back to bush hogging tomorrow afternoon. Stop by on your way home, if you want.
  12. Thanks! You know where it is, come on down sometime. You can even shoot it, if you want.
  13. Naturally, we don't want terrorists to have guns. But, do you really think that a terrorist cell is going to walk into a gun store to buy their weapons? I don't. I don't like the bill. Don't think it'll do a bit of good.
  14. My question is, how will the Federal government know? Let's say XYZ Machine Shop starts cranking out SBR AR uppers and lowers, and stamps them Made In Tennessee. If a person were to buy one, what in the new law requires that any government agency be notified, unless the rifle was to be transported across state lines?
  15. That looks great, David. Really nice.
  16. I burned through 45 rounds of .38 Special today. Some Hornday Critical Defense, to make sure my 642 likes it, then some reloads that I'm unhappy with. Need to play with the loading a little, they were tumbling to say the least.
  17. Yep. The M1 Carbine is one of my favorite rifles, would love to see y'alls. Mine is an early Universal commercial carbine, but all the GI parts fit. Planning to get an original someday to keep it company. Got a shot of it hanging out with it's "also wasn't there" 1911 buddy.
  18. Bringing an old thread up, because this thread got me interested in the AlumaGrips. I just put some Olive standard thickness AlumaGrips on my Springfield 1911. I love these grips. Haven't shot it yet, but they feel great. Very, very happy with these grips.
  19. This is my pitiful entry. No chance of winning, but I wanted to play, too. Do I get bonus points for shooting a J frame off handed with reloads? Ha! In all seriousness, I do need to tweak my load, looks like the bullets may have been tumbling due to the tears instead of clean holes. Yes, there are only 8 holes, I was out of ammunition.
