That's what I was thinking, but I'm looking at a thing of Federal small rifle primers that say "100 Small Rifle Primers and High Velocity Pistol." It had me wondering...

A lot of the x54 I've shot is brass or copper washed over steel. Something to look out for. That said, I've got a few brass cases out in the shop. I'll get them to you sometime.

Beretta Model 948 A .22 LR version of the Model 1934. It has either a 3.5 or 6" barrel. This model is designated as a 'Sleeper' with rapidly rising values or significant collector potential. Excellent: $350.00 Very Good: $300.00 Good: $200.00 Fair: $125.00 Poor: $90.00

My book lists two versions of the Woodsman that look similar to that one. One is the Woodsman Target, the other is the Woodsman Sport. The Target version lists for 1100 in Excellent condition, and 750 for Very Good. The Sport lists for 1400 in Excellent, and 1000 for very good. The Sport version has a 4 1/2" barrel, as opposed to the Target with a 6 5/8" barrel. Your friend has some cool stuff.

I just went out and put 23 rounds through the little carbine. Odd number, but I took a full magazine and the handful of loose rounds in the can. I love this little rifle.

A friend's M44 does the same thing. I've never shot mine at paper, hits hedge apples pretty good with the bayonet in or out. I say shoot it extended. Looks cooler, makes people at the range do a double take. Besides, if you miss the target, you can just reach forward a few inches and poke the hole in it. I may go run a few through my M1 Carbine before it gets dark...

what is on your adult beverage menu for the evening?
56FordGuy replied to Mike.357's topic in General Chat
I'd avoid going from beer to liquor in the same night. Do the liquor first, then switch to beer. Remember, "beer then liquor, never sicker..." Having a Fat Tire now, probably a Boddington's and some homebrews before the night is over. -
Alright, this is probably a dumb question, but I've heard a couple of different things lately. Can small rifle primers be used in small pistol loads? Likewise, what about small pistol or small pistol magnum primers being used in small rifle loads? My initial response is No. However, I've heard a couple of people say that they either have done it, and a few others that think it can be done. It just seems to me like the burn rate would be too different for it to be done safely, but I'm still new to reloading and being very cautious. What do y'all think?

Scary stuff, glad nobody got hurt. I have a thing of those exact primers that I got from Okey, that I was going to load into some .223 for an AR. Now, I'll use them for .30 Carbine and find something else for the .223.

This has been happening for years, and quite honestly I don't think anyone should be surprised by it. I lived in a not so great part of East Nashville for two years. I can not count the number of times I'd go in the grocery store and see someone buy food with an EBT card, then roll the cart out to their Cadillac, or old car on 22" wheels, etc... People have been taught that the government just gives. I went through school with kids driving modified diesel pickups, swapping parts, drag racing every week, and getting food stamps. They had no sense of...pride? I don't know how to describe it. Why work more, why work harder, why take a chance, when the government can give it to me for free? They don't understand, and they don't care. I can't count the number of folks I've seen, met, or dealt with that are siphoning off of the government in some form. I can count the two I have met that I knew for a fact could get government help and just wouldn't. One was a young black guy I went to school with. We were in class 8 hours a day, five days a week, then he and I worked another 40 hour night shift together in a truck shop. He had a wife and kid at home. He could've gotten assistance from the government, but he just wouldn't do it. The other is my uncle. Back several years ago, he was laid off from a factory job and at the time, could not find similar work. He has a wife and two kids. So instead of filing for unemployment benefits, he took a job at McDonalds. He, along with my grandfather, are some of the most stubborn men I've ever known, and the world could use a lot more like them. But instead, I'm left seeing people like Jesse every single day. Where are we going, and why are we in this handbasket?

The weather takes getting used to. 95* heat in Cali is way different than 95* in TN, just due to the humidity. Likewise with the cold. I'd rather do -25* in Montana than +25 in TN. Jobs depend on the field you're looking for and the area. Some parts of TN, like Spring Hill (where the now- closed GM plant was) aren't doing well at all. Other places are doing okay. What type of work are you looking for?

Funny, I like almost anything better than Bud Light... Really. 1/2 price beer night (Thirsty Thursdays) at the Somet Center during hockey season mean nothing to me. I can't drink that...stuff. It almost sounds like the last couple of picks have gotten boo'ed. Is that just me?

Really, we need to convince you to leave CA? I'm kidding. Welcome to TGO, enjoy it. Tennessee is far more gun friendly than Cali, that's for sure.

Great story, there's a lot of history there. Congratulations. Like everyone else, I want to see some pictures.

Yep, it's draft time. Nashville picked 11th, and took...Ryan Ellis, an 18 year old defenseman. Brilliant. Our offense stinks, our defense is pretty good...who needs to score? We'll just defend the whole game. That works, right? I don't get it, but who else is watching? What do you think?

At a Smyrna gunshow not too long ago, I believe Specialty Arms had one for 7000 or or, might have been 7900. It's been a while.

I didn't intend my jab at all lawyers. Just a bunch. You're right, there are a lot of good ones. My best friend is one. But at the same time, there are a lot of 'work the system, make a quick buck' lawyers out there, too, and they usually seem to be the ones that make the news. Suing over coffee, suing over dry cleaning pants, suing over anything they think they can get a quick settlement over something frivolous. Perhaps I should've been more specific in my post. There are a lot of good lawyers out there, including the often- maligned criminal defense lawyers. Even criminals are allowed to legally defend themselves, and innocent people are occasionally charged for crimes that they didn't commit. They need representation. Everyone else, though, needs to realize that coffee is hot.

Watching it right now. Interesting stuff. It's either this, or Home Improvement reruns. When does hockey season start, again?

I'd extend an invitation for him to walk through a few parks in Nashville at night. I think the results would be very similar to your scenario. -
Agreed. It's good to know some politicians still have some common sense, or listen to their constituents.

I got the joke, I just never get to use all the humorous icons I've collected. Didn't want to pass up an opportunity.
